  1. not to mention kill your fuel milage. chances are this "chip" is just a resistor you can buy at radio shack (10 in a pack for $1.99, iirc) thats just marked up to profit from the not-so-car-savvy.
  2. i think subaru pioneered 4wd on cars, or at least streamlined it and made it affordable. i think audi is credited with the invention of AWD though.
  3. youre talking about heat treating a set of oe headstuds, right?
  4. chances are its a fulltime 4wd (AWD) if its a 5-speed. ask the owner to look under the hood for a plenum that says 'subaru 4wd turbo'.
  5. just did a search on naisoc classifieds, lowest price i found for a vf39 was $200. mine was in mint condition when i bought it.
  6. will is refering to injectors from a USDM mitsubishi lancer evolution 8 or 9.
  7. i think i know what daves talking about... bring it!
  8. try cleaning up the ground wire for the wiper motor. a poor ground will make the wipers act screwy.
  9. :drunk:cool! we didnt have a huge turn out last year, this year id like to see a few of the older subies out there. the oldest we saw was a 360 van. now i doubt anyone would bring anything older than that, but any subaru is welcome! if we could get one model of every subaru ever built, that would kick rump roast. id love to have a line of subarus showcasing the company's history and evolution!
  10. $1000 for all that is a bit on the low side. if youre lucky you can get all those parts on a REAL good deal. a REALLY good deal. i paid $300 for my vf39 alone. i dont think an sti IC is a direct fit for the forester, but theyre usually $300-400. then you have the dyno tuning, which is $150-200 an hour, depending on the shop. plus you still have an UP and TBE to go get.
  11. i dl'ed my copy last night. thanks guys!!
  12. find a new shop in the boonies!
  13. ive been thinking about this show since november. does this indicate i have a problem?
  14. i yanked my a/c out. but then again, my wagon isnt a daily driver. i dont see how that compressor would run air tools efficiently.
  15. i smell evo aftermarket
  16. took me long enough too. took forever to find because its kinda hidden, and then i decided i needed to go to sears to get a socket that i didnt need anyway.
  17. oh ok, makes sense.... too bad its not as cool as it sounded.
  18. whats a mustache bar? some sort of light bar/push bar?
  19. i pulled mine out, and the cap was all green and ugly, like a penny after its been in water. the contacts themselves look good. i dont know if it needs to be replaced or not, so i took a pic...
  20. i dont think the switch got me. i like to push buttons and press levers and whatnot. my friend's 87 and 91 300zx's both did the door lock thing. the buggy does it too, i think its a PITA.
  21. the buggy does the exact same thing, tim.
  22. ive already put in to have that friday off! should i look into getting a keg?
  23. i have just been informed that there is no rev limiter on old school subarus.... so i dunno, 6-7k should be more than sufficiant. i think dont these things have top end power...
  24. first off, are you dyno'ing for an emissions test, or just to see how much power youre making? if there is no AWD dyno you can use you may be exempt for emissions. however, if youre looking for power numbers, yes you need an AWD dyno. third gear is most commonly used in dyno pulls. i would think the tech would take it all the way til the rev limiter kicks in.
  25. linky this might offer some insight?
