  1. Sounds to me like kind of a blend of Spirit in the Sky and La Grange ... with the riffs changed-up enough so that they don't have to pay any royalties to either.
  2. Woah! That's VERY interesting! Both my turns were 270s and via right hand cloverleaf, and at a pretty decent G ... the 1st time when I thought I smelled it, and the 2nd time when I actually SAW it. Dude, you might have hit it on the nail! Question is ... why smoked sausages? Maybe I should check under the hood again - hehe!
  3. Okay, I’ve got one for you guys … I don't take my Booperoo out on the E-way much ... see, I'm paranoid. And today didn't help. Last time I took him out on the E-way, I popped a timing belt & ended up having the heads rebuilt - that was last year. Anyway, today was the 1st time since then that I did (about 8 months). Was driving from one town to the next, and I was on the E-way for about 25 minutes @ 3500rpm (70-75mph). I noticed a smell while I was making some ramps from one expressway to the next, but I didn’t know it was coming from me until I got off the exit ramp. At the light right off the ramp, I looked in the rear-view & there was thick white(ish) smoke coming out the back, and then I got the full-thrust of the smell – I wish I could describe the smell – it really reminded me of something but I can't think of what (ever notice how smells can really jog your memory sometimes?). Anyway, I pulled-over, checked the oil – nice level, nice & clean (next oil change in like 500 miles), no milk, nothing like that – smelled around the motor – nothing odd. Zero. Started it up again, drove here, no problems. Now it seems to run fine. Any ideas at all? I mean… was I just "Burnin' the gunk out"? to quote Bill Cosby. What do you think?
  4. Yeah, mine started the Exterior rust thing this winter. HUGE difference between last year and this year. Bummer. Do they make crash-panels for these things? I pretty much rebuilt the body on my F150 piece-by-piece for $1000 bucks from JC Whitney - I'm talking fenders, rockers, corners, floor-pans, Doors... the whole shmeal. But then of course ... they made a bazillion of those. I'd have to look, I bought my Soobie for like $500 bucks, but I have a couple three grand in it making sure it starts every time, so I don't mind spending the money. But I'm clearly in the bratman18 camp in that I think it's a shame to let a car go to rust .... maybe I'm just not being realistic. I suppose if I found a rust-free AWD Turbo wagon from the South, I could just switch motors & call it a day ... I'm sure it'd be cheaper than trying to chase all the rust, and not good @ fabricating.
  5. They make all kinds of stuff for it. If you're replacing the head unit, you'll probably need to come out 1/2 inch or so, which throws everything off kilter. You might want to check with Crutchfield - they say the head unit is 5.25" deep. Sounds about right - most aftermarkets are deeper than that (plus plugs/wires). I made mine out of a generic "Blank" one with knockouts. I'll try & look-up where I got it -it's been a couple years.
  6. Hahah! Lmao! I gotta say - I had NO idea about Soobies when I got mine - I had no idea that I had gotten lucky in findingone - it was just a cheap car on craigalistatthe time ... and I think I have seen like THREE of them on CL since then here in Michigan. I dunno. I look about 2-3 times a week, and I NEVER see them. I have seen maybe 1/2 dozen of them in my area on the streets since I got mine 4 yeasr ago. It's bizarre. I ordered new OEM Fenders for $82 bucks each shipped (shipping was 1/2 the cost). Hey Ivan - where in MI are you?
  7. Definietly has to do with the temperature changing - CTS is my vote, too. Is the oil pressure ok during those 1st few minutes?
  8. Well ... when it finally looks like I can say "I've done the most I'll ever do", it turns out ... nope. Okay, so I needed some DurRock - Basically drywall made out of concrete. it was 4:30 yesterday, and I didn't want to wait until Monday to do this job ... so ... I rolled-up on the guys and said "Let's do it!" You gotta love the hubcaps on the forklift, hehe. I admit, it was a slower drive home than normal in rush-hour traffic. I don't know which is more impressive about carrying the 2" think slab of concrete (and the 8' pallot to go with) - the roof not collapsing, or the YAKIMA RACKS that held just nicely! And to think I emptied the thing, thinking I was gonna slide them thru the back, hehe!
  9. The voltage COULD be just the RPM revs, but the needle movement shoudn't be abrupt - it should be slow - if you have abrupt moves, you gotta look for shorts somewhere. If it's gone after you got the revs fixed ... then thats probably it.
  10. Wow - I'm just now catching up on this thread ... what an adventure! Keep the pics coming.
  11. Hehe ... I cut & pasted it instead of clicked on it ... http://goo-net.com/cgi-bin/goojp/use...e=maker_search I like that link better
  12. I think I finally found something to do with that space ... GPS I'll take out the existing clock & replace it with a GPS ... hopefully, I can find something with close dimensions. I can route power cables up & hard-wire it directly instead using the of ciggy. Anyone done this?
  13. Yeah - I see now. I had a 21ft pole on mine yesterday and I would say those boards you have must be at least 18s ... or even 20s ... THAT is impressive!
  14. Lmao! Wow! You gotta love the "Roof Extenders" ... and the air defector, hehe! Dude, your car looks almost airborne! Must be the way the light's hitt'n it.
  15. Holy crap!!! hahah!!! And I thought I was nuts! omg, that's great, haha! Are those removable, or you just get crappy mileage? HAHA!
  16. Hahah! Well, yeah. I mean post stuff you don't mind having the world see, hehe. Today, I am picking up a 20' fence top pipe ... but I'm gonna have to cut it down a little... but I've had my 40' extension ladder on the Soobie ... I bet I can find pics of that ... nothing on the expressway, tho, haha!
  17. Ok .. last one for awhlie: I moved my entire warehouse with this guy ... including the metal shelves I got from an out-of-business hardware store. What kind of crazy things have YOU done with yours?
  18. Here's a better shot of the kitchen, hahah Refrigerator with the hatch CLOSED ... Trash Cans, anyone? Cant remember why I didn't put any in back ...
  19. heh heh ... Dryer on top, Washer in the back ... If I remmeber, this was a stove, and 2 Air Conditioners in the back, and something else ... I forget now I demo'd a kitchen & decided to re-use some stuff ... 18 feet of countertop, base & wall cabinets, lazysuzan... I admit, this one took 2 trips, haha!
  20. That was BEFORE I got the racks, hehe! Once I got my Yakima Racks ... all bets were off ... Couches ... Lumber ... I think this is a couch, and a double-bed-set ... maybe something else - oh yeah - my tools, hehe!
  21. Heh heh ... when I 1st joined this board, I would have never thought I'd ever post pics like this ... I do construction & maintenance as part of my job(s), and I used to have an E350 cargo van as my daily work vehicle. When I got my Loyale, my main concern was the ability to carry enough stuff around with me ... Well, I think I have passed that fear, hehe! Starting Small, we have Walnut Slab ... Mixed Firewood ... This was my first experience ... I forget how many cabinets I got in there, but I remember the guys betting against me lost, hehe!
  22. I have a maybe dumb but hopefully related problem with my blower: sometimes, it just won't work, at any speed setting. No rhyme or reason as to when, but it just plain doesn't work for a driving session or two ... then, like magic, it 'decides' to work again. SOMETIMES, when the blower motor speed is @ "high", there is about a 2-3 second delay between the time the car starts and the time the blower motor kicks in. When it works, all 3 speeds work. When it doesn't work, no speeds at all work. Not sure where to start. Are we talking Relay? Resistor? Motor?
  23. The idea I had was to get a couple plates of 3/16" plate, as long as the existing rails, and about 3" wide each. Then, drill/tap holes that match the threads on the body of the NEW seat, and then mount the thing like a normal seat.
  24. I've been lookng around, too. I tried some junkyards, but they must be blind over there, considering what they're asking for them. I have a kinda almost perfcet color-match new seat that I'd have to make some brackets for ... still holding out. I saw some on ebay this week that I thought were PERFECT ... but I don't think so, and shipping would have killed me. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OEM-CLASSIC-SUBARU-SEATS-NEAR-MINT-BRAT-LOYALE-DL-XT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem130270838746QQitemZ130270838746QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
