  1. Its not an axle, definately not, I drained the fluid and a tooth popped out as soon as I took off the drain plug. So, I am about half way done with taking the tranny out. Im tired, and angry, the car is fighting me every step of the way. Hope to have it out tomorrow. Then ill do a tear down and see what we got. Someone send me the latest STI transmission please!!! for free. or just buy me a quaife sequential setup.
  2. Yup, thats how mine sounds. However it didnt give any warning. Mine had plenty of mobile 1 GL-5 synthetic gear lube in it. I actually changed it about 15 thousand ago.... So something else is amiss here. Possibly old age, Definately not too much power, However I drained the fluid and as soon as I unscrewed the drain, I hear a clunk, and sure enough, a tooth from somewhere on the front diff.... Broke right off. Hopefully Ill get it pulled apart in a week or two, and then decided weather it gets a new diff, or a new tranny. Its getting pulled apart this weekend.
  3. What have I done to my Soobie lately? Well, last night I somehow damaged something in my drivetrain. Somethings wrong in the front diff case. Sounds wonderful too. I love loud popping/clunking coming from the front case.
  4. I decided to post in here yet again. Well, along with my usual subie woes, the car demons have struck again. Were thinking that my front diff just went boom. I decided to give the car beans once on the way home, about a half mile from my house, and it pulled great, eased it into third and then it started, no loud noises, just the constant horrific booming/clunk and it sounds like its coming from the diff case. I just got the car insured and registered, and the engine actually running very decent! and just started full time at college. This is how it goes i guess. Im not giving up, if it is indeed the diff, its either OBX front diff, or full AWD swap. Ill keep the few people that actually care posted in this forum, im still hoping its the front right axel, but it cant be. :-\ Wish me luck, and large sums of money since im out of it right now.
  5. If you have an automatic center punch you may be able to coax it out that by making the punch unscrew it. Works for me alot.
  6. Didnt you just get done with one of these? If I recall you just painted one, but im too lazy to check which one. And also, how the hell did he not see you, I dont care how wasted he was, that thing is one big highway reflector!
  7. Ahaha, Amen to that sticker. Im trying to get stock out of mine right now. Its fighting me.
  8. That thing is great! I wish my paint looked that new. Mines starting to oxidize. is this going to be a commuter?
  9. The only problem I have with HIDs, I dont care that there illegal, is when you use them with a lense that has a deflector, because they blind people when you drive by. Just a heads up. And also silverstars are ugly in my opinion, they are just blue ive never noticed an increase in brightness, if you like them then thats fine, im not here to tell you what to do. but if you can find some hotter bulbs then thats the ticket, and relay the headlights. Trust me, my cars relayed and the lights are quite a bit brighter, just need some hotter bulbs and we got some fun time. The car looks sweet. I wish I could fine a car that cherry.
  10. Merkatroid and I replaced the head gaskets on an EA-82 TBI and we only torqued them once, however we brought the torque a tiny bit higher than spec. and the car has been running amazing since. Its merkatroids $200 Loyale, that wont die. The thing has been overheated to amazing levels before we fixed it, and it just keeps on chuggin. So, I think you will be fine without retorquing them.
  11. Yeah, check the flashy light codes, and check them a couple of times, since there confusing. Is it spfi or mpfi?
  12. Check for simple vacuum leaks, or exhaust leaks before the turbo. But the idleing poorly part leans more to the vacuum leak side. If there big enough you will beable to hear them.
  13. Hey now, be nice to the poor slow subs. Im trying to make mine "fast" but fast is all relative. As long as it doesnt blow up while Im tuning it, it will be "fast". Or at least thats what ive been told WJM, im trying to beat your power levels, just friendly competition, but I dont know if it will work. We will see, and dont hold your breath. Since I just got the turd running. Actually I wouldnt even call it a competition, you made me aspire to making a faster EA. Is there a medal yet for getting the highest power out of an EA-82T? There better be one just incase someone cracks the record. Subaru_dude, what are you driving now? And even if a Honda beats you. Your car is still cooler than theirs.
  14. Finally changed the front axles. Sounds good without the clunking. Clayed and waxed the car, Tuned the MSII a bit more, still has a way to go but it can rip tire in first kinda, and trying to figure out the water to air intercooling setup for it. OH you wanted pics? Sorry, dont have time. Maybe later though.
  15. Car is registered, Insured, claybar'ed and currently recieving a wax. My car is officially road worthy again!!! Merkatroid helped me tune it some more, the car is running decent at stock boost with no intercooler. Time to figure out my Water to Air setup, and then push the boost up a tiny bit. And if it all works out. Videos will be posted. But only if the car doesnt blow up first.
  16. Seriously, I know how you feel. I go to change exhaust gaskets, and I have to redo my exhaust system...
  17. It is slightly an old thread, but its due for an update. Cmon ladies, what are the tallys now? I dont feel the need to post mine, since its been in my driveway for the better part of a year...
  18. Turtle wax ICE has to be the best car was I have ever used... Have you had any problems with the trim around the windows? meaning the black stuff that is around every window frame peeling the black plastic off? My car is apparently getting sunburned here in the desert and its starting to peel and look like butt!
  19. I dont mind the price, if these things are reliable, then if mine goes out. I might slap one in. Who knows... If this thing ever gets on the street again, it might be due for some RA lighting on the bumper and roof rack for off road usage. Great post.
  20. I would replace all of the timing components... But thats just me. Maybe the oil pump and the water pump which is part of the timing componets...its always nice to have fresh bearings in there! That thing needs to be scrubbed with some serious TLC!!!
  21. What the crap batman?! Did someone take their car into the lake and forget it? I like the 22 but the 25 in my opinion is just as reliable. They had problems with head gaskets but that was fixed, although the timing belt price is a plus with the 22. If all else fails on the CEL coming on, Megasquirt it!
  22. Jeeze guys, take it easy with the replys I just recieved my PTP Turbo Blanky and Header Wrap for the car, Matt from DIY autotune is helping me figure out my MS issues! Hope to have the car on the road for real in a week or two.
