scorpion springs
https://www.renickmotorsports.com/ is the place to go to order the Scorpion Springs. But for some reason there site is under maintenance. Weird. They will import the springs for you which sometimes takes up to 3 months with a cost of about $420 with shipping for all 4.

205/75/15 tires on a stock outback?
subieman replied to subieman's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWell I went with the Yoko Geolandar 205/70/15. They look great on my car, very aggressive looking. Only problem I have noticed in the 20 miles I have driven on them is they like to follow the groves on the freeway. So it kinda tosses my car around a bit. Strange.

205/75/15 tires on a stock outback?
subieman replied to subieman's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHum yeah, I think I would be more worried about the rear tire rubbing on the strut. In my tire search I have narrowed it down to two different light truck tires... The Yokohama Geolandar which come in the stock tire size http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=Geolandar+A%2FT-S Or the Firestone Destination which offers the 205/75 sizehttp://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Firestone&tireModel=Destination+A%2FT I have a friend with a 97 Legacy and he has the scorpion springs which raises his car higher then my stock outback. Hes running the 75 profile Destination tire with no problems. I dunno, maybe I'll the toss a set of All season tires on it and call it good. It's almost summer anyway. Here is my friends 97

Do I really have a blown head gasket?
Since it overheats at freeway speeds I would suggest its the radiator. When they get old and clogged they don't cool as well at speed.

91 Legacy SS seats in a 96 Outback, what do you think?
subieman replied to subieman's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMajor reason for replacing the seats was because originals were so uncomfortable on long trips. Made me really fatigued. I could drive for hours with out any problems in my 88 GL cuz the seat was soft and comfy. So far the new seats seem far better then the old ones. Time will tell. If not I'll be in the market for 00-04 seats. Here is another picture but the sun was kinda in a bad spot.

So I put some legacy sport sedan seats into my 96 Outback. I'm undecided on what I think about them. Maybe its the color thats bugging me. What do you guys think?

Tensioner broke, bent valves? 99 Outback
subieman replied to subieman's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI believe the only way to know is to pull the timing belt cover. Its a pretty simple job to do. You just need to pull the two end covers to check both belts. Good Luck

Tensioner broke, bent valves? 99 Outback
subieman replied to subieman's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThis car is in cherry shape except for the engine. I drive now a 96 outback with the OBD II EJ22 engine in it. The body is not as good as shape, so I was thinking I might be able to swap the 96 motor into the 99? Gary, how would I go about doing a leak down test? Thanks

Tensioner broke, bent valves? 99 Outback
So I have a friend with a 99 outback with the DOHC EJ25. The tensioner bolt for the timing belt broke off the block, because of a shady mechanic that over torqued the bolt. The bolt threads can be saved, but how can I tell if the valves have been bent? Maybe with a compression tester? or fix the timing belt and try to start it? Maybe I'll just throw a EJ22 in it and call it good. Thanks for any input,
