What will cause this weird tire wear?
I need some opinions on what is causing my tire to wear on the outside. Is it a simple alignment problem? Camber? Ball joint? Bad shocks? Thanks!

Lake Tahoe Meet **CANCELLED**
Did that pesky thermo switch bite the dust again. They can be had for cheap at the auto parts store. I had the fans wired to a switch once but I kept forgetting to turn it on... I have the rear strut extensions that came with the lift. Then you can use the stock struts... Let me know if you would like me to dig them out of the garage for you?

Replace HG's without pulling engine?
Slow progress so far. Had a stripped out head bolt and a stubborn rusted intake bolt. Gonna put a helli coil in the block and I was able to get the intake bolt out. Now in cleaning and preparing for the reinstall. Also found one of the idler pulleys for the timing belt was frozen up and my belt was just about to snap it was rubbed so thin. Just dumping more money into this thing. Blah! Now I'm starting to rethink is it really worth fixing a 20 year old car? If the head gasket job give me any more problems off to the junk yard it is!

Replace HG's without pulling engine?
Thanks a bunch everyone for your tips and opinions. I have decided to not pull the engine at this point. If a reason arises where I do have to pull, I'll will. 10mm ratchet wrench....CHECK!! I'll post up when I'm done.

Replace HG's without pulling engine?
So I'm about to tackle my first head gasket replacement on my ea82 this weekend. Can the work be done without pulling the engine? I have the resources to pull the motor but the less work I need to do the better due to time constraints. Any tips before I dive into this project? Thanks

Which tires for the Brat? 175/50R13 or 215/50R13?
If it were me I would use the stock 185/70/13. Then you don't have to worry about the speedo being off or any performance, stability or gas mileage problems...

1st time Subaru - Which one should I get (BOTH PRE-1986!!!)
Ok let me give you a few pointers. Stay away from the turbos. They run hot and eat auto trannys for lunch. (Trust me I know first hand.) I live in the area, well Reno but I make many trips to the lake. If you must have an old gen soob I would recommend a SPFI EA82 that would be 1987 if it's a calif car and 1988+ if it's federal. They run forever, have good power for higher elevation. Make sure you get a manual, auto's are slow. I own a 88 GL and it's great in the hills, yes it is a little slow but I can keep up with traffic over donner summit. It did just blow a head gasket but it has 250K miles on it. Just keep your eye on Craigs list, something will come up. Oh yes the Carson City Pick N Pull is the place to go for parts. But remember these cars are getting old and the are slowly disappearing from the yards. Parts may become hard to find soon. Good luck with your purchase on whatever you decide. Remember it is your car and not ours Oh and those 84 Turbo wagons are very rare. If I had the space I would buy it.

How do you remove a transmission?

How do you remove a transmission?
Wow my old wagon is looking good! Im glad the transmission swap went well. I bet it feels like a new beast! Now that I think about it I don't think I did the clutch on that wagon while I owned it. I asked the previous owner and he said the he had the clutch done by a shop in Chico. Got pictures of the front end? Looks like you did some cutting! Good luck on your road trip! Let me know how she does.

Just bought a 96 Outback!
Oh, it feels so good to be back in the EJ series wagons again! I love the EA's and all but, it's nice to have comfort, safety, air conditioning and POWER! I just bought a dream of mine, a 1996 Outback with the EJ22 and 5 speed 133k miles. RUNS GREAT and I'm gonna be taking some time off work to go play in it! Pics!

Need input on restoring a 88 wagon or to toss out
Ok here is the story. I own a 88 GL wagon that recently blew a head gasket. Knowing that the repair really is not worth the value of the car I decided to buy a newer outback or Legacy. After a few months of searching I have found ZERO cars that hold any interest to me. They are all beat up really bad or have super high miles. I wanted to get into something safer and more reliable and more power. I have $3000 to spend. I feel very comfortable in the GL so I have decided to maybe keep it. But if I do I want to restore it to cherry condition. I would like to do a EJ swap with a EJ AWD tranny, have the interior reupholstered, new carpet, new door panels, have the dings in the body taken out and repainted, maybe have a air bag system installed and possibly ABS. Pretty much have the whole car gone through. Am I a fool or is this something that is that might be feasible? I would like peoples input on what they would do in my situation. Maybe I should really let these old Subaru's die and keep searching for a EJ.... but I dunno
