yep, tipped the car over, crushed the passenger door, shattered the window and crushed the fender in. wasn't over my head. if she would of quit b!tching and arguing. i wouldn't have been playing with the gps, arguing and driving at night... bad combo...

look it up, i'd rather race in a modified class that has 20 to 30 inches of independent suspension travel. i.e. class 10 buggies or class 7 trucks. i don't really feel like murdering my back, cause the suspension sucks at 60 to 80 miles an hour over large terrain changes. if you can even get that fast. i have enough back problems, from disregard to my body skateboarding and all sorts of crap. if i get to race i'd rather spend the $40k to $80k to build a stout buggy or truck. that the suspension, my body and the parts can take the hits at 60 to 100 mph.

Looking for tube buggy pictures with subbie running gear

unless you move to az, where you can make an atv street legal and a full on rock buggy street legal... -
you can research it. but there isn't a direct subaru class. like there is a bug class, or buggies that have to have bug suspension.

looking good, would like more on the 1/4 eliptic setup. does your friend like it? other than unloading on downhills. i know how i'll be fixing that problem, winch and center limiting strap. any pics of it twisted up? great pics, looks like fun!

it's what you'll need to do to your subaru next rob  sami frame yota axles and about 36's!
-
you going to have this ready by august? i'm planning on a weekend campout at naches and rimrock area. which vehicle i bring, depends on if the yota is done.
-
just save up and get the 30 spline longfield axles or also known as bobby longs. stronger than the ujoint conversion and i've never heard anyone that didn't have problems with them. the weakpoint in those dana 44's are the u joints. a 30spline longfield has a breaking strength around a dana 60. which is what i'm going to save up and pony up for the shafts. and then put chromoly's in the rear when i can. http://www.longfieldsuperaxles.com/ this is what everybody upgrades to if they keep the yota axles.

that first roll over, that you see the car coming up and then all you see is it on it's side... i was standing about where the car landed in the next pic... as i took the pic... it was an oh $h!t! and run!!!

stealing my frame:lol: , mine's a long bed '84, the mounts are slightly different than the extended cab '85. but the wheelbase is still 112" center of hub to center of hub
-
you know what year it was? the long bed's and extended cabs with teh solid axle were 112" till like 86 or 88 i believe. then the 90's extended cab and long bed were 123" wheelbase. the short cabs are 103"... go measure and i'll figure it out for you. cent of front hub to center of rear hub.

well i went down for the score baja 250 race in ensenada this weekend. here's a sampling of the 1000+ pics i took at the race and in ensenada, mexico area. http://1027469568.slide.com/p/0/4wheelparts?view=true i'll upload the pics individually later. but i only had time to setup the slide, for my myspace before i went to work... but figured i'd share. never did see jesse jame's trophy truck cross where we were (10 miles past checkpoint 3). and we left about 2 hours before the last racer was supposed to be across the line. he must of been one of the broke down trophy trucks.

lol! that's why all my cars look huge! i stand next to it...
-
my toyota with 38's is only 44 inches to the top of the fender... you going to slide the front spring mounts forward? so you clear the fender easier and a better approach angle. you going to do the yota axle swap like a lot of the samurai's do?
