  1. that's why you measure the actual std size then compute it...
  2. . 1980 wagon, built motor, 31's, dual cases, 4.11 gears, welded rear, lsd front........ . FOR SALE
  3. naches is over chinook pass on hwy 410. there's a trail from greenwater that also acesses the naches basin. the trail just so happens to be the naches pass trail. . . the majority of the trails we'd run are difficult to most difficult. no lift,no go. but always welcome to come hang out at camp, run the logging roads and easy trails, or find a seat in another rig.. . yes yotaroo's are welcome and encouraged to show up!!!
  4. :headbang: the way that subaru should look!!
  5. rob, you always have an excuse not to wheel with me... but if the same stuff is going on, that was a few years ago. i fully understand! but i hope you can make it. so, where's all those, "where's my hatch patrol?" folks... it's amazing none of them have the guts to pony up... don't post unless your actually thinking of going though:Flame: .
  6. i will. just emailed the yakima county sheriffs dept. see if i can get replacement maps, since mine were stolen... if it comes down to it i'll send them the money to get them. and start the trail planning. interesting... no subaru's interested?...
  7. i should be there late friday. if going pm me, i'll give you my #
  8. kaner flats, milk lake, tripod flats, summit/manashtash ridge (which includes the goofy and moon rocks), lilly pond lake... definately at least a 3 day trip. not sure about taking the naches trail over. depends on whether i'm trailering the toyota over. and whether i'll be running propane or not. we'd be camping out at kaner flats or another little camping area we used to go to across the little naches river from kaner flats. i'm writing an email back to the sheriffs dept to request new maps. the ones they sent me a few years ago, were stolen on this last deployment with all my other stuff.

i know this is far off. and well after i'll be back in washington. but i've been trying for years to get a weekend trip to naches going. . it'll be my self held welcome back run.no specifics as of now, but sept. is after the main fire season and when it should start getting wet again. and i should have the toyota on the trail... with luck. otherwise i'll be sporting the soob. . subarus, yotas and heep's are welcome.depending on how many people want to come, is whether i get an event permit or not. semi organized event, i'll be heading up some of the runs, and i like making trail itinerarys... . subaru requirements:. 1.8L or larger engine. welded rear. lift. d/r tranny. no fear of body damage... rolling or difficult trails...
  10. adjustable struts, and lift... yes, be smart about this and put a lift on it... i've ran them with a lift on an ea81. and i still had to trim and beat the heck out of the fenders with a sledge and use a sazall...work smarter not harder....
  11. still come, there's another thread on it. i'll be pushing the wire, i have to cut the welds and reweld my transmission crossmember, john welded it crooked, which is why i'm tearing transmission mounts. hope to get the majority of that done tomorrow. pipe up in my bday meet and greet post
  12. well, the funny part is really, look at the last picture... my car in sacremento... lol... or i thought it was funny... http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/off%2Broad/video/xiu3b_subaru-84-gl-wagon-off-road
  13. i've had one front birf go, 2 front cups, 6 or 7 rear stub shafts, broke john's welded diff, blew up the spider gears on an open diff, 2 rear axles sheared on the shaft, and a couple rear cup/bearing failures... all ea81 parts. not that the ea82's are much different in design.
  14. yeah, i never broke anything till i got the second t-case... now i find all the weaknesses in the rearend...
  15. dang! 8 days before i'm back in washington...
  16. well it's my birthday on the 9th, so i'll be out at superstition mt's by elcentro if anyone wants to come out and play. the majority of the runs will be moderate to difficult, options for other difficulty ratings... plenty of dunes and rocks, mixed with hard pack. directions are from yuma, az... might be able to find some from hwy 86 and hwy 78 Directions: 1. Merge onto I-8 WEST (mileage from giss parkway exit) 2. Take Drew RD/Seeley EXIT, after EL Centro 3. Turn Right on DREW RD 4. At first Stop sign Turn Left on East Evans Hewe RD 5. Turn Right on HUFF RD - go 2.2 mi 6. Arrive at 32.881894,-115.718398 7. 32.881894,-115.718398 at this point turn left on Wheeler RD, just before the little sand hills (it's a dirt road. follow wheeler road for a little ways, past the superstition mountains orv park sign. all the way to the base of the the big hills, with the radio towers, large rocks and sand. i'll be camping there, subaru, rei tent and possibly a few others. not reccomending camping for children, will be running cb channel 1, if anyone wants to just meet out there for a day run or let me know to be expecting you.
  17. i haven't broke them on the road. only when it's bound up under torque in the rocks and rutted sand climbs.
  18. southwest meet april 6-8 southern cali, superstition mountains, el centro, ca
  19. easter weekend, should be a good weekend. april 6th to the morning of the 8th. superstition mountains. i'll try to post directions tomorrow. i got a map with directions from the I8. hope to meet you and see you there. i'll probably bring one more rig or 2 from yuma.some of the trails may be difficult runs. i don't know about bypasses on on of the trails. the rest should be fine with a mildly modified subaru.
  20. you can remove it. it's better. but i can't, my car is rear wheel drive. welded rear and lsd in front. it handles great for a subaru. ain't the best on the street. but after you learn the quirks, it comes second nature, to compensate for the rear end being locked. but if you are still fwd, then disconnect a rear axle and stay in fwd on the pavement.
  21. no pics, no real comments... lol... here's a cookie. :applause: poser shots work too... solo=no excuse.... j/k
  22. especially on that spring snow, partially melted snow... it'll suck you in.
