but clutch after clutch gets spendy in the end. square driveshafts are fine for driving it on the street. just drive in 2wd and disengage the hubs. if it was awd the hubs couldn't disengage you'd have a problem. if driving in 4wd with a square shaft don't go over 25mph

this was on the nw-wheelers board. figured i'd pass it on. if i got a rig going by then, i'll be there.
-
if there's any open seats. rob? ken?
-
hmm, that's a hard one... gears or steering... front driveline can fab the square shaft if you know someone that has a welder. then shortening the rear shaft for now, till you get a HD one isn't too expensive. hy-steer is really nice and a lot safer, but how bad do you want to burn the clutch up with stock gears? if you aren't slipping the clutch alot, go with the steering first, but if you want to save the clutch, get the dual cases. just my 2 cents.
-
which is what gearing is for...
-
sweet! looks a lot better. second tcase???
-
yeah, lots of stares and wtf's! gotta get it all back together and sell.

well it rained... i got wet and everything is wet... went up friday, setup camp rode the trails around camp. but not to far cause i was waiting for my g/f to arrive. i definately need to get a full set of rain gear. and new boots. cause mine are no longer water proof...... saturday the other friends that were coming showed up late. we rode the whole overland trail to the gravel pit, then wound up on the overland trail to the bridge closer. tried finding the salmon trail to get back to camp from the gravel pit. so many mislabeled user built and main trails north of the gravelpit... got weaved all over the place. finally found it. took it to mission creek made a loop back to camp. whoops suck with a passenger... it preceded to torential down poor on us... sunday morning we packed up, and headed to the gravel pit to play around for a few hours before we left. people were bump jumping the little whoop access road into the pit. sketchy jumps, with no air. my buddy took my shovel and made a safer lip to a safer landing. it was hit.

yeah! pictures! looks like a blast. wish i could of joined you guys, but the car is in need of serious attention. i'm just glad it made it back to washington.

supposedly the mud pits on the lower half go between open and closed. do to some buried cable. but the upper half that doesn't have all that goo is supposedly open. or what was posted on nw-wheelers a while back. i'll try to find the post. ranger said it was open i guess.

hardest part, and why i keep refraining from selling is that this is my first car. she was mint when i first got her, hard to believe. she's gone through about 3 or 4 stages to get to this point.
-
i'll see if i can get the parts. i want to drive!! started the paint, since i couldn't get the parts though. pics in offroad section. are you guys running the naches pass trail over? raven's roost trail? haven't been on the upper part of raven's in years, i remember the last climb is enough to give almost anyone the hebbie jeebies! or just up kaner flats, and milk lake/ the rocks?

sort of looking around. kicking myself for selling my mud terrains. but at the same time the 31's were really too big. kind of like these 31's that are really 30's on there right now, don't rub near as much. but i need some mud terrains. i didn't put it in the wanted section, cause i wanted to ask the wheelers.

i've had it for 8 years. time to move on, and need parts for the toyota. otherwise this will be my tahuya state forest mobile, since the toyota will be over kill there.
-
planning on it. but not sure when. no one has wanted to really buy it yet. so just fixing it up for now.
-
that weekend is my brother's house warming party... if i go i gotta leave sunday morning, early.
-
well i've been meaning to do it for awhile. i've had the olive drab paint sitting around for the last 6 months to a year. and after my college assesment tests i didn't have time to hit up pull-a-part for some much needed parts... it didn't quite turn out perfect, but it's a start and a wheeler. got to go get 2 more cans to do the roof. olive drab will be the base coat, then some forest green, dark brown and black thrown in for good measure. then to fixing the running gear.
-
well hopefully i get to pull-a-part before they close today. seriously low on fundage till the first though.
-
if i can get the car ready by then.... and if that weekend is free. still got a/t tires though...
-
no lift, no go for a subaru. if my truck even gets done in timr to go. the reason is you will be running with modified toyotas and subarus. no one is going to want a winch fest to haul a car up a most difficult trail. not saying you can't possibly make it. but a lot of the trails out there are steep and some really good off camber towards drop offs. not near as bad as rim rock though. an unprepared vehicle in those conditions, make a bad day for everyone else. i'm sure you can see if someone would have an open seat though.

just going off of that, and everywhere is having problems with people running signed atv trails. from what was written it's easy to be seen as "we started wheeling on an atv trail." especially after the following post of another board member.
-
they don't go together. wheeling on atv trails, gets areas shut down. not to mention tears up the trail for atv's. 400lbs vs. 2800lbs... and irritates those of us who drive atv's... that's like if i took an atv down a dirtbike trail or a dirtbike down a wilderness hiking trail. it's illegal anyway you look at it. and we have been having enough trouble trying to keep trails open for 4x4's in the national forests...

i smell toyota envy... :-p
-
hmmm... the last pics were probably my last in a long time. till another owner owns lil' roo. if i have the toyota going by early fall i want to make a run to the rocks and raven's roost in the naches district. all with modified subaru's are welcome... i'll be busy and poor the next couple months till my gi bill starts kicking out checks.
-
wow! now i've seen 3 shafts do that. ken's, mine and yours! looks like a blast! any pics in the mud hole?
