  1. get the yota, a sami wouldn't be bad either. i'm getting one for a daily driver. but with a sami you'll be going to toyota axles anyhow. i know i will. after my toyota is done. if the engine is blown, i'd wait... that's an ifs rig and you'll want a solid axle. i wouldn't pay over a grand for one with a blown engine. and that's if everything else was perfect and pristine...
  2. http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/wenatchee/cle-elum-orv/taneum-jct-campground.html this site has all the info and maps you'll need for the manastash and cle-elum area. still all depends on money flow, if i have the car still, job and tires.
  3. ... wow... and i only have 12 and 13" of clearance with my subaru. then 14"+ on the toyota...
  4. as soon as i get enough money to drive that far. extremely low on funds. still waiting for my dd214 so i can get a job on vet status, get my gibill, or file unemployment...
  5. nice pics, top one's my favorite! i really need to get mine done... can't wait!
  6. only if they are really cheap... and a the car doesn't sell first...
  7. it was good. only eric's rig was ready to wheel. i drove the grocery getter. played around on the trail, and chilled. i won't believe any possible evidence of me getting a rig stuck...
  8. let me know. as far as i know, the day is wide open for now.
  9. cv joint. i have a lifetime warranty, and am replacing it. boot was torn, mud trashed it and broke, before i hit the trail. i don't have time with starting school to keep chasing problems. and that ea82 shock needs replaced and some whir sound. ujoints or tranny?? it's coming with another tranny and ujoints are like 10 to 15 bucks a piece for that car. also tore open a sidewall... so now tires need to be replaced. i need to be dumping money into the truck, not into the soob right now. if any vehicle at all... last straw, 8 years with this rig, time for a fresh problem child.
  10. definate no go. car's for sale, need parts for yota.
  11. well with a sadden heart, i'm selling the car. may she go to a good owner. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?p=641474#post641474
  12. i'll be there, whether in lil' roo, or my dad's grocery getter.
  13. you going to have it ready for your wheeling trip in sept? definately suggest a cage though.
  14. ready to play. still need to figure out if it's the ujoints or tranny going...
  15. well a last minute run. installed all the steering components. and headed out. need to tweak my alignment a little. but hell, it drives like a dream otherwise! compared to how it was driving. tahuya is 25 minutes away. so we just hit a small trail run of the steering... i think i need a new pwr steering pump is in need also... doesn't have much power in a bind anymore. could be from running dry for so long... no longer an eco disaster, so i feel comfortable bringing it on the trail. knowing it doesn't leak. rob you want to sell that pwr steering pump? pwr steering doesn't leak no more though!! thanks! well batt in camera went dead early on, so not a lot of pics. and what is a trip without a broken stub axle... it always breaks when i'm not really doing anything... luckily towards teh end of the day...
  16. my 8" lift still rubs while flexing and turning at the same time, with 30" tires.
  17. greg warned me about their kit. the tie rods rub the springs. i'd talk to heep. i got the billet sky-mfg kit. yeah, forgot that damn -
  18. hmm... depends on conditions... still have a/t's but should be running by this time.
  19. so, if your bringing a trailer... trailer the hatch, drop it off at the cabin. pickup xt, drop off at your stash point, drive back with trailer... trailer hatch home after playing...
  20. can i bother you for a picture with a coin in the tread??
  21. sticker and registration says gl... but who knows. it was a 1980 1600 4wd. i converted it to a d/r... now it's a 1.8L ccr engine and 5 speed d/r to a nissan tcase.... so i got these new ball joints before i left arizona... and the boot isn't already installed. didn't want to go on and tore when i installed them... it's too small of a boot the seal won't even seal.
  22. well got some work done this week. picked up "new" control arms from P-A-P, bushings were in a lot better condition. mine were toast. center metal on metal. sloppy steering. cut off the 1/4" steel skid plate on the control arms and got them welded to the new control arms. found out that the upper strut bushing was torn on the passenger strut. so found a replacement at P-A-P. another direct replacement EA82 adjustable. that's the 5th strut top i've torn in the last 7 years... time for limiting straps... tomorrow, picking up another new shaft for the passenger side, and some header wrap so that the exhaust will quit overheating the shaft's boot and cracking it. also picking up the pwr steering rack. then it'll be good for a thursday test run at tahuya. friday, it's time to replace the intermediate shaft's u-joints... saturday, with luck, eric's cabin! some progress pics tomorrow.
