late febuary at superstion mountains, el centro, ca area. lil' roo should be ready by the second weekend of feb. if you want to see the car go to the offroad page, under "saving lil' roo". come mid febuary, at least everyother weekend i'll be making runs somewhere between el centro, ca to pheonix, az. but superstition mountains, has plenty of options, easy trails, campout, hardcore trails, and some dunes thrown in the midst. so you can get a little bit of glamis, and ocitillo all rolled into one. the easy trail around the park should be able to be made by semi stock subaru's. the harder stuff spurrs off of the easy loop. will you have a lift on that ej-brat?

true, true! i like the font better on yours than the one i have. maybe i'll get that one when i replace my window.
-
that one's not torn. it's just where the boot was touching itself and when the suspension drooped it was the only clean part (didn't collect 2 years of dust). it is leaking at between the joint and boot. not worried about that. but the rear boot is turned and tore. its either the axle that let out or the locker's weld broke. gotta look into it.

you've been a member for how long!!... :drunk: i was wondering when you were getting it put on...
-
you finally got it branded!! i need to get a new window brand for mine! it's been dry rotted by the dry heat and scorching sun of arizona.
-
well it's still warm enough down here to paint about 60 as a high during the day.
-
good idea!

believe it or not, but it was a mint lil' roo before i started wheeling it about 6 years ago. i wheel, i have no concrete cowboy rigs. i do have a straight body to swap on, or if and when i sell it, it goes with the car. i probably won't change it till it rusts out, tip it over again or sell it. i'd say the roof is straight but that'd be a lie. the hood is the only dent free piece i know of.
-
well, got the reenfoced control arms and strut arms installed. the hood pins installed. installed new connectors on the alternator. and got her started after the engine pull yesterday. also trimmed up the front and rear fenders to clear the tires a little better. still need to tub out the rear of the front fenders. the tires rub in compression and full lock turn. reenforced hd control arms and strut arms before the front trim (second time, no more stock bumper. so i don't need to have the holes), didn't get pics of the back trimming. still need to replace the second tcase, front hub, tie rod and reweld the rear diff. and repaint with camo or olive green.

nope, i want to go end of july, beginging of august. probably for my self held welcome back camp out. naches and of course the goofy and moon rocks
-
repainting? looks awesome! so you gonna be going wheeling in naches this summer? i'm hoping to make a couple runs out there late in the summer. either in lil roo, or if the yota is done i'll take it.

yeah, well don't have the caliper, i only needed the hub, and it was already off a vehicle. and there's no parts for ea81's within 200 miles of me. i already bought one from monstaru and it's on the way. so just waiting on the postal service.

i'll get some arizona rock crawling pics next month. just keep an eye out. true a lot of people have switched to toyota's and stuff years down the road (me included). but subaru's are way too much fun to give up all together and the comunity in washington is awesome! when i get lil roo all the way back on the road, i'll get some pics on the rocks. the only pics i have of crawling with the subaru is the lake isabel trail in washington. but they weren't digital and well before my cars dual cases and 8"lift. i'll get you some pics... but patience young grasshopper. there's some that have some good pics around here though!

well got a little bit of work done today. pulled the engine and replaced the rear main seal. got it all back together and was going to start it. but the auto hobby shop on base was closing. so i had to go home. it still makes a wierd noise on start up, like the starter shaft is rubbing metal on metal or something... but goes away when the starter isn't turning.... well tomorrow i'm putting the reenforced passenger control arm and strut arm on. the driver's side i did before i deployed. i'm cannibalizing the tcase out my broken datsun 720, to replace the burnt up 720 second tcase that's already in there. and installing my hood pins. i'm tired of having to fight getting the hood open. i either have to have a spare tire sitting on my hood for it to unhook or someone putting their weight on it. then just standing by for the hub to come in the mail!!!
-
ooh, looks awesome! trying to pull my yota out next year? or lil' roo? awesome! i wish i had a winch on one of them! not in the budget anytime soon! but soobies don't get stuck!
-
your in spokane right? if i drive through there i'll have to swing by your place also. so, regular postal or ups? if regular postal, my po box will work. no because i have one of those. i accidently told john a non vented rotor a few years ago and it doesn't work. the brake bolts are farther apart... so i can only attach one brake caliper bolt...

haven't decided if i'm going to be going through salt lake, post falls id and up or just take i5 again. haven't been through salt lake or southern idaho. western mt, south east id and salt lake i just had friends move to all those places... so i just might need to go through there! haven't decided yet. keep watch on the board in 5 months it'll be determined.

a little square stock, here, a little there... and some welds inbetween and you can have that much lift!
-
very interesting i was following this pic on both boards... waiting and wondering? wierd stuff.

it's been that big since it went and visited sweet82 in the end of 2003. it was one of the first 4 or so known tcase lifts. mudrat did the lift. it's an 8" lift, nissan tcase, 4.11 gears, welded rear, lsd up front, ccr 1.8L, weber carb, ea82 5 speed, ea82 suspension, redrilled chevy rims with 31" bfg mud terrains, and a few other things along the way. it's made the drive 3 times from washington to yuma, az (1500 miles). the only reason it sucked last time, was it was a sheet of ice from eugene, or to grants pass, or. the lsd up front on sheets of ice sucks. there's no hubs to unlock like my toyota or datsun. well just got back from the junkyard here in town. they have no ea81 bodied cars!!! so who's selling a driver's side hub for a vented rotor 4wd? and is willing to mail to arizona?
-
well it's takin' awhile for me to get around to it. but it's crunch time and lil' roo is going back to washington with me! so... i started working on her yesterday. yesterday i got some stuff cleaned out the car. the electric fan relays remounted. replaced the battery cables and got a new battery. started her up and she purred like she just wanted to go play... next weekend pulling the engine and replacing the shot rear main seal, putting on the passenger heavy reinforced strut arm and control arm. i'm in a mad hunt to find a driver's side hub, the one i got awhile back was the wrong one... non vented rotor, i'm an idiot, it's vented... ooops. so if i can't find one in a local bend over here it comes junk yard... i'll have to locate one somewhere. change out the tcase with the one in my datsun 720 pickup (it needs an engine rebuild. then get another one from washington to get her driving...) reweld and reenforce the rear lincoln locker. re trim and tub the fenders... rework the stock tcase lever. so i can use reverse in double low... then off to the trail, then washington! duplicate of this revival is in "the garage", at nw-wheelers.com

looks like fun. that bumper looks like the one john was building about the time he was lifting lil' roo

yeah, the dmv in az is full of a-holes. i've had nothing but trouble with everything down here. same with some of my buddies that are now az residents... -
that's wierd, doesn't quite look subaru either.
