  1. hey figured i'd chime in. and say i'll be down that way. not in the roo, but going for a motorcycle ride down that way.
  2. sweet! hopefully i can get leave and i'll be there 4x4 or no 4x4.
  3. that's above your clearance level till it's unveiled. just think you haven't seen one that big or that set up yet.... with luck at wcss it'll be done and unveiled. that's if all goes well.
  4. i'm working on it. most of my money is going to the new offroad roo though. so i'm scrounging on little roo and have to fix her as low cost as possible for now. did take her out wheeling a couple days ago though. that's when i discovered that grinding noise. really hoping it's only a bearing that got sand in it and died...
  5. lil' roo is up and running... but the tranny is making a wicked noise. so as soon as i get some more time away from work i'm going to put some of that lucas oil in there and see if she'll shut up. it might be a combo of a wheel bearing going bad. the left wheel bearing was slightly exposed because of a broken axle, the whole time i was in iraq. so some sand might have gotten in there and killed it. that's hopefully all. i need to look into a leak on the engine also... but the tranny or wheel bearing, which ever it is or combo is the most impotant right now... this whole weapons training is winding down so i should start getting weekends off! which will help with getting lil' roo the rest of the way up.
  6. wish i had money!! i'd love to have that clean of a subaru!
  7. got an email saying free subaru... was able to get my dad to go pick it up! thanks dad! the body will possibly wind up on little roo. or i might just fix her to be a daily driver... don't know yet.
  8. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=177 here's a pic of my new subaru! it's a 2wd ea 81 station wagon. me adn wagons who would of guessed?
  9. looks good! but definately needs some paint!!
  10. happy 5th! happy belated 4/20! thanks for all the advice, and the help along the way!! without you, ken and the HP. i'd be a jeep driver! thank god that got cured!! imagine 4x4ing, if my dad didn't find that Hatch Patrol buisness card at Aaron's Auto Wreaking, 3 or so years ago... nightmares... shiver...
  11. with my old 4/3" pk davis lift and 27" super swampers ssr's. a lot of pounding fixed the front. but with my brand new 31's on the 8" lift i'm going to have to cut away at the wheelwell, and cover the hole with steel plate... make sure you trim the fender also if you haven't already. if you can roll the inner edge of the fender or cut it way away from where the tire could hit it. that way you prevent cutting or tearing the lugs with the fender.
  12. yeah but doesn't matter how much you lift it, you'll always find the bigger rock! trust me, maybe it's just me... dude that sucks! so now that you got the body damage started... you gonna make it a lifted 4x4?? the first dent always hurts the most...
  13. that's a sweet looking gen 1 brat!! i know i have a few pics on my computer somewhere of jason's old one. i'll try to find some.
  14. good to here you survived good. definately another testiment towards john's fabrication. i still haven't broken any of the parts that he fabbed onto my car.
  15. it's on the S.N.O.R.T. board. haven't got around to the pirate board. they really don't like us much. Jared
  16. it hit 100 degrees today. the dunes are in cali but we are on the same little plane about 20 minutes east. tons of sand down here though.
  17. you mind if i start posting this on the snort board, and possibly the pirate board. granted they ain't too popular here on this board...
  18. i know the blm isn't just arizona. most all of the offroad parks in washington are blm or forest service. but i know you aren't supposed to detour or make bypasses on blm land in washington. you stay on designated trails. at the carnival in yuma i was talking to the BLM personnel at their booth, to get clarification of where i can 4x4 at. and the definition is any navigatable wash that's not in a wildlife preserve or otherwise posted to keep out. basically the washes are rocky or sandy valleys or flood planes in the desert. which not a lot really grows there. let alone live there. flash flooding fills and tears through the washes. that's how i was told it's written in the blm laws for this area. not for colorado or any other state. it's Arizona. all other states that i know of, if it's not marked as an open area 4x4ing area, it's a huge no-no to detour from the trail. that's how stuff get s closed down.
  19. arizona... the BLM is Bureau of Land Managment. granted that's only in arizona i guess. there's no place in washington like that. as for what a wash is. its essentially in the desert there's a bunch of flood planes and valleys and all that good stuff. the reason they get called washes out here. is when it rains it floods and washes all sorts of sands and stuff in and through the valleys. basically a valley or gulley where lots... i don't know i'd have to show you. it's a desert thing.
  20. not really an issue the rear axles are totally differant than the front. and the rear bearing is just as sealed without the axle as with the axle. before you put the axle on you might want to wipe the dust off of the stub splines and put a light lube from time to time when you put the axle back on. that way you keep it an easy job.
  21. hey posted some areas in the greater yuma area. i'll post a butt load more when i get the car driving again. and i can clock the gps coordinates for some of the washes and ridge line trails. hey i wouldn't mind be a moderator for the southwest, west coast and pacific northwest. that's where i do most all of my wheeling. and also would like access to that other forum... but i can try to help a little with those regions.
  22. it's not that those trails are illegal or about to. but the fact there's certain areas you don't want to red flag to environmentalists. i've had conversations with people about why not put a large database up for trails?? but what some of it boils down to is not straight up stinginess. there's places in washington i'll take anyone out to. but they are places of sensativity, that environmentalist can flag and shut down in a heart beat. there's too many of them up in that state trying to shut offhighway vehicle areas down. as for arizona. as soon as i replace the tranny i'll load a bunch of trails up. cause you can drive almost anywhere. or at least in any navigatible wash. that is what the BLM instructed me. Jared
  23. replaced the 31" kumho m/t tires, with 31x10.50 BF Goodrich M/T. they look sweet, i'll post a pic soon.
