RWD Subaru Video Check It Out!!!!!(Reposted)
Rooinater replied to Vegablade's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
gotta love the rear wheeldrive and front ebrake! that's how i blew my first rear diff up... except i have 31's when i was doing it... oops... awesome video and sweet music! -
uh... i don't know what your talking about... that one cost me 392 dollars... not sure if i'm driving up yet. or flying and driving back... haven't decided. it all depends on the rest of the project build up and how much the rest is gonna cost. if i buy a tow rig i'm driving up. otherwise, flying in going to wcss. kicking around washington for awhile then driving back... if i'm not picking up the new rig. i might drive lil' roo. if she's in good enough condition at the time.
-
she is a little taller than that 3" lift huh? i forgot how tall she was till i saw my baby in the impound lot... i might be driving #2 through your neck of the woods after wcss... picture retake?

i would love to. if it wasn't in the middle of a training cycle. i'm working 7 days a week 12 hours a day until april 26th. we have operational comitments to to WTI. weapons training instruction for the pilots. we don't finish till the end of april. the earliest i could try, is mid may. both diffs are still messed up. all it is going to take is some parts from the northwest. shouldn't be too huge of a deal. hopefully... i should find out sunday, how big of a deal it's going to be, when i start tearing the diffs apart. i'm gonna try to drop them tomorrow. and as soon as my tax return hits. then i'm planning on ordering tires. there's a lot that needs to be done first. some test runs to make sure all is par and good to go for that long of a trip. but i am dieing to go. if operational comitments don't get in the way, i'll have the new rig for fall 4xing season... hint hint... lil' roo is staying the way she is for now. i got a yota axle for her, maybe some time down the line i'll put it in. but right now all my money is going into another project.... i still got the roll bar i need to put in to... i really need to before little roo winds up on her side a second time...

small pipe in. check my webpage. www.westcoaststompers.com go to the bottom of the main page. there will be a banner that says john's custom subarus... check that out. no kit better than the custom way. and if you are going that big. then you got a second divorced t-case option. redrilled chevy or yota rims are a good bet. or a 6 lug converstion. then you can straight bolt on yota and chevy rims. john did my 8 inch lift and divorced tcase mod. along with a bunch of other mods! he did a real good job and all his mods have held up to my heavy foot and abuse. i've only broken other things, like parts i decided not to upgrade. oops... well... today was the day. i got little roo back from the base impound lot. oh how ragged did she look... one flat, a dead batt and all the broken diff problems i left her back in the states with. filled the tire up and towed her back to the barracks. but it was definately an exciting day. got a new battery, some oil, ordered a new voltage regulator and cleaned my air filter. poured a little gas in the carb and keyed her over. coughed like she wanted to start. gave her another turn and she stumbled and rumbled to life! definately exciting! let her idle and warm up a little. the gas is not really the best gas, it's been sitting for almost a year... i knew she wouldn't drive, cause of the broken diffs and some problems. but put her in gear and 4wd... and checked the drivelines. to verify that they were all turning and it was a problem with the diffs.... all three turning away. so sunday i'm cracking open the diffs and checking what's wrong with each one. order some parts and get her back on the trail. my goal is mid april or so to get her running and on the trail again. with luck!! depending on how much time i can get away from work. mtsfab... i'd tow it not drive it. i'm buying a tow rig on april 1st. a full size 3/4 ton truck with a 460... i think it'll tow it just fine. cause i'm planning on towing the new rig back down to arizona. i really don't want to drive it all the way down to az.

trail rating system is now updated to the 5 point system. chart as borrowed from az backcountry.
-
well i started cracking at the first wave of redoing and updating the site. got a new start page, reworked the words around on the main page and updated john's custom subaru's and fabrication contact info. going to rework the trail rating page to the 5 point rating system they use down here, next. and slowly tinker down the line. and if i get off my but i'll start adding the flash links. but that's a little more work at the moment. you might have to refresh some of the pages if you have cookies already.
-
hahaha. that's pretty interesting. like the bed extender on the brat too!
-
i thought you were only contracting for us? where are they sending you? work-ups? or getting you ready to go to my favorite place... Iraq? good luck. are we going to the dunes this april?? i'm thinking mid april if you get the car lifted. that should give me plenty of time to patch mine back together.
-
i want the legacy... that'd be an eye catcher at the dunes. even more than mine is...
-
looks good! now we need to get you some wider tires.

Official welcome home get together for Jared
Rooinater replied to Qman's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
well either is fine with me. where ever the majority wants to go. still lack car in washington? so i need to bum a passenger spot somewhere. which i know isn't a problem. i'll be driving my dad's lifted wagon, but i can't take it offroad. or at least anything difficult. so i'll be parking at the campground or meeting at someone's house and riding from there. i'm dying to see the dirt, the lush green trees, hills and all of you guys. i hope to see you guys soon! Semper Fidelis, Jared -
Run to Tehuya...
Rooinater replied to Scoobywagon's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
that sucks... -
obviously you've never done any wheeling in northern arizona if you are thinking it's all tame... flagstaff is a short 30 min drive from the canyon's. and i bet you i can find a ton of trails near flagstaff you'll beg for mercy! as for moab that's fine. but it has to be done in the later time frame. and i have to take a week off of work. but i don't get back from iraq till mid febuary. then get off of leave in the begining of march... still got to fix my car. and from the sounds of it drive it up there. anyone using the planning board? guess not. sko' i'll get to you on that. i have some ideas.
-
nice car! i beat you though. i finally set it down on her side a little over a year ago... that passenger wasn't happy. and broke up with me shortly after...
-
sure... i'm saying shoot for the end of march begining to late april will be best. i won't be able to work on the car till the begining of march or so. because of duties to my country in iraq and do to my leave when i return... i'll try to check out that group tomorrow. Semper Fidelis, Jared
