westcoaststompers small site update
heep70 replied to Rooinater's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Nice job on the site. Where is pics of the new project . I am preping mine now for paint. -
Here is some good news on Reiter Pit from a friend who went to bat for 4wheelers and attended the meeting. "Yeah, it was pretty cool. Not one voice of dissention in the crowd or on the council. I think the unanimous voice at the hearing really helped. Plus, we got them to change the set back from 2000ft. to 250ft! That is for all of Sno. County, not just Reiter. So boys (and girl), Reiter Trails is basically legal to wheel in now and it will be just a matter of time before it's an official ORV park. Understand there will be some drawbacks to this. Once the DNR gets in there and we help them mark trails, no more cutting your own path and we'll need to stay of the single track stuff. It's all stuff we mostly do, or should do anyway, but it will be more official in the future. But the important thing is the risk of losing Reiter to some loop hole is gone. They'll need to get more creative, or we'll need to get more stupid to lose it now." http://www.heraldnet.com/stories/06/01/18/100loc_offroaddoc18.cfm

Qman mentioned the base plate gasket. I would not over look this. Its worth checking. -
Is the thermostat in correctly (backwards)? Is it the type of thermostat that the opening is offset? I was told that will make a difference.

I had another noise on the DS. It was a loose sound. Kinda clattery or a low tone slapping sound. Ended up being the dizzy. The shaft was very lose. Replaced it and the noise was gone.

Lifters, try some MMO in the case. How is the oil pressure?

If you don't want to get involved, why are you compiling a list of names this Mudrate guy owes stuff to?

They are located under the pass dash by your toes. If they are broke the fan will not work at certain speeds. The whinning is probably the bearing in the motor. -
Oh, I forgot these are Subarus. Ya, don't engage the 4wd on pavement. :-\
-
Turn a circle on the pavement in 4x4. It will feel like it is binding up.

Blower motor resistor pack
heep70 replied to 1985GLWAGON's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If it is the thin coil try a porcelain resistor from Radio Shack. If I remember right it was a .47 ohm. If you want I can check it out at home, I still have it. I just snipped the broken coil out and soldered in the resistor. Like I mentioned it worked just fine, but the middle coil decided to go like six months later. -

I tried to solder mine. Couldn't get the solder to stick. They put some sort of coating on the wire. I ended up putting a porcelain resistor in its place. Worked fine tell the middle one broke. I got lucky and found a good one in the salvage yard. -
Yes, I agree with the sticking relay. Thats a good idea with swapping them. If I remember correctly all four are in line horizontaly with the driver, so is it closet to the steering column or the drivers door?
-
THANKS! Are these relay(s) still available for just under an arm and a leg from anywhere? :-\ Do you happen to know which relay it is of the four? Sorry for being so demanding. My spare time is like gold, I ain't got any. Thanks again.

I posted a thread last week or two ago asking why occasionaly my blower motor came on when the key was off. Now the blower motor won't come on at all unless I get lucky by beating the bottom of the drivers side dash by the fuse box. I have checked fuses, they are OK. The resistors are good. Haven't checked the blower motor itself yet. Does anyone have a scematic of an 1986 wagon. I have a hanes, but you know how they are. I remember a line of four relays on that same side of the dash behind the fuse box. Is one of them used to direct power to the blower motor? I can here something like a relay opening and closing as I beat the dash.

Where is pull and save at?

Someone here mentioned a wrecking yard in Spokane that deals alot with Subarus. I need to find a D.S. front blinker lense for my 86 and thought I would check a few wrecking yards out while I was over there this weekend. Anyone know the name(s) and addresses of these yards.

Blower motor stays on after key is off?
heep70 replied to heep70's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
No, still the same old wiring. I think the radio thing is the ignition itself. But the blower motor staying every once and awhile on has go me stumped. One day I will walk out to the car and the batt will be dead.
