  1. I ran the General Grabber AT2s in a 205/75/15 with the outback struts and springs. Now it deffinately needs more lift. Will get some pics up when I get a chance.
  2. You can deffinately go straight down the drivers side rear of the intake manifold with a long extension and a 12mm socket
  3. Neo, I am thinking about going out when you guys go again. I should have it all lifted by the beginning of next week. Where is the Barrens? Either way I would be trailering it there due to it being the first time on the trail with it. I will probably just talk to you when you come out for the struts.
  4. Sounds like the NSS. It is located on the pass side of the trans held in with 3 8mm bolts. Pretty easy fix and they fit most suby apllications for close model years you I am sure you can grab one at your local yard or I have some. If you need one email me at rich@getusedsubaru.com
  5. I second that. They will deff work. You are goind to have to run 96 plug wire though with the square boots, and get the valve cover gaskets for the 96 heads as well. You will see the difference in the spark plug tubes. But a plus is you gain the cool 16V DOHC valve covers that you really cant see anyway
  6. Is that the jackstand lift setup
  7. good luck on locating the surrounds for those fogs. if you come up with anything let me know because I know like 5 people looking for them.
  8. I am deff gonna do a 95-99. I just don't think I want to go through the hassle of tryin to mod everything to make it work. I am just prob gonna take some wheel base measurements for other vehicles and figure out what chassis would work best, as far as a pick up or SUV
  9. Can anyone help me?....I have been tryin to find disgusting 95-99 legacy lift pics. Possibly even the body transplanted onto another frame. I know there was one floating around of a leg on a rover chassis. Tryin to show a guy at work but havin no luck. I want to do a lifted OB but dont think I want to go through all the processes of using the OB drive train....maybe throw it onto another frame.
  10. Check the shift lock box. I beleive on my old 93 it was on the left side of the radio when you pull the bezel. Little black box that says shift lock actuator.
  11. Just put it at TDC before you pull it apart and you have nothing to worry about. All of the pistons are retracted so if you spin the cams absolutely nothing will happen.
  12. Most likely that is going to be the scenario. I beleive in 99 they switched to the hydro clutch? So if that is the case you don't have any adjustment to play with.
  13. At TDC on a dual cam both the intake and exhaust are sitting close to the top of a cam lobe so they are going to be the ones that will want to snap away at TDC. The pass side will turn back and forth freely at TDC.
  14. I recently found a new favorite at wal-mart of all places, michelin wiper blades. They are only like 6 bucks a peice and I put them on all my cars now and get no streaks and decent life. Used to run Bosch.
  15. I just got to play with my 00RS in the snow for the first time, not as much snow as you but alot of ice mixed in. OMG!!!! This car is killer in bad conditions. With the LSD if it gets into trouble, steer out, hit the gas and go! I pulled into my dads driveway and felt it just kind of raise the car as the snow scraped the floor pans. Thought for sure we would be diggin it out, went to leave, dumped the clutch and and it pulled right out.
  16. what year is the car? some they are in the hood release bracket, some just hang by the box others are close to the column
  17. none of that stuff on your car, no distibutor even. maybe idle control valve, vacuum leak, TPS, ect...........
  18. It is more or less things to look out for. I was only listing engine issues. And as far as widespread issues there are def. more than HG's. HG's are pretty much are problem that if you own the car a while you WILL have to deal with, where the others are faily widespread.
  19. It is a 4eat trans. Other than that the only thing else that he could possibly be able to ask you is the ID off of the top of the trans near the starter which should be something like TZ102ZA1AA
  20. I was just trying to get a feeler out for different issues that people are seeing becoming common and maybe getting a list together for problems to watch out for when looking into one of these, and to give people an idea of what to expect they could be getting themselves into. Please add on anything you can think of and what mileage this has been commonly occuring. I work at a shop that we deal with nothing but subies parts and service and I am thinking about keeping a tally with problems dealt with. Phase 1 2.2 -one of the best of the newer generations of engines made in the opinion of manyd people, they are pretty much all good (finally did my 98 OBS at 237k) -cam/crank seals Phase 2 2.2 -limited production- 99 legacy and 99-01 impreza -electronic disasters- i have dealt with more sensor, TCU, ECU, and wiring problems on these than any other EJ -cam/crank seals Phase 1 2.5 -Obviously head gaskets- I have dealt with them as low as 70k -bottom end failure- seeing this more and more lately between 115k and up -cams locking up- appears to be mainly due to the size of the journal and the oil passage -if you are into buying parts cars are repairables inspect the cam gears no matter where they are hit- I have purchased cars that have been light his with the body pushed nowhere near the cam covers and put it back together only to find out the composite gear blew apart and belt most of the valves -cam/crank seals Phase 2 2.5 -HG issues as well- not as bad as the phase 1's but we are seeing our fair share- As early as 60K -planar type O2s need to be replaced fairly often- As early as 50K -catalytic converter problems fairly common (420 code) As early as 60K -cam/crank seals EJ20 -Haven't dealt a whole lot with but beware of boosted engines without supported fuel systems -Bottom ends! (I am doing the second engine in an 05 with 41k first one was used this time it is getting rebuilt) As low as 40K Again this is only a rough guide to what we have seen and dealt with personally. I am sure there are pleanty of things I havent thought to list. Feel free to add.
  21. I personally would just do the gaskets, would be saving a ton of cash and if you are pulling it that is half the battle. If you decide to do it yourself try do get a hold of a good straight edge and check the deck on the block and heads I am starting to see some that are over 8 thousandths out in warpage. But as long as you didn't cook it you shouldn't see a problem with that.
  22. TB normally seems most common in 95-98 trannies. After that in the external filter trans they used a steel bushing in the housing instead of just letting the shaft ride in the aluminum housing. I have probably personally done about 30or so 95-98s and none of the others.
  23. Deff. out. Trying to fish the head back in while trying not nick the gasket with bolts or head is a pita
