  1. Hello all. I saw Numbchux LSD fitment issues in his thread and was wondering if the Obx front LSD had been fitted to a d/r trans(Rx specifically). I'm getting close to picking one up and have a single range trans if need be. I'd hate to find out the hard way that it won't fit tho! Thanks, Sam

  3. 5* is pretty close, it's hard to get the alignment perfect. Once ms has control you can trim that out. Ms3 can do all you want to do and more. Ms1 can also, and save a bunch of loot on the way. It should run stable on it's own. Few ideas on stuff to watch for. The Edis sensors and wheels can be tricky re. gap and alignment. Have a scope to check your signal? Ms would give you a look at this. The sensor bracket can have vibration issues Electronic noise can also be a problem, are you using the condenser for the Edis coil? They are particularly noisy. Tidy, protected wiring helps with this also. The Edis wiring has the important wire bits shielded for noise. Sam
  4. Nice work getting a 36-1 and sensor mounted and working. Not an easy task on the ea. This is really the key for you going forward. Everything GD has brought up is spot on. I would recommend going full megasquirt as it will remove many, many headaches whenever you have to interact with the stock management. Fuel control is the reason to bother with any of it. Also, the Edis setup has been superseded with ms1 extra and on board coil control and having done both I would recommend the latter every time. Sam
  5. So far I have a 6 pt roll bar, strut tower to firewall brace and alot of stitch welding. I'll see how this setup goes for me and decide on a full cage/chassis car or swapping to an impreza. I haven't had this setup on the road yet. I can't really say much more than you did about the stock set up as my suspension was pretty worn out. My goal is to get a strong stable car that can cope with 350hp, big brakes and 8" (at least) worth of sticky tire per corner without having a full tilt race car chassis. We shall see. Sam
  6. Looks great. Your setting the bar pretty high with a nice build. I'm going to have to get back to fabricating to catch up.. I think we may be chassis and suspension tuning about the same time. Likely built with similar capabilities. I'm curious what your impressions will be of the chassis compared to your legacy and further to an impreza. Sam
  7. I love my soob and all but the evos are engineered really well. 15+ years of platform innovation. Much like subaru. I can get an evo transmission out almost as fast as a typical rwd transmission. they are built smart. Easy to take further apart also. Nothing beats the 60-90min subaru engine pull tho. Sam
  8. TheLoyale, the enigine is all ph1. 2.2t/2.5 dohc. The ps res is a modified subaru can, relocated to clearance the intake pipe. Sam

  14. Thanks Mr Loyale. I cant wait to put some proper suspension under it and learn how to drive this thing all over again. Im looking forward to putting in a front lsd someday. Any updates miles? this is seriously inspiring. maybe some back story on the garage o soobs? Heres a few of the windshield area repairs. seriously annoying. I dont have any of the after but I cut out the lower left and right corners and put new metal in. Sam
  15. My frame rails are pretty good, no repairs needed so far. floor pan in general is also pretty good. The areas I have repaired are the windshield channel, cowl below the ws, some in the spare tire area and what I mentioned before. my doors were and hatch and front fenders were junk also but have been replaced. err.. just remembered my carrier bearing mount totally rusted away and had to be rebuilt lol. I have a little in my rear wheel arch/flare also but Im gonna leave that alone till after my 5 lug swap. I may put different flares on it for wider tires. Im gonna try to put ALOT of power to the ground. I have had alot of fun with this car and hope to be able to enjoy it alot more in the future. Sam
  16. Thanks Miles, The welder is a lincoln sp175t. The biggest thing for minimal clean welds on sheet metal is haveing a welder that runs shielding gas. that allows you to see what the weld pool is doing. then run it as hot as you are able so every time you start its a nice small weld. you have to start and stop alot but that is necessary for sheet metal anyway to prevent warpage. The patches in the picture are all overlap and outside of the body so it wouldnt be ideal for a smooth finish. its a little cruder but much faster. To have a perfectly flush finish that wont require bondo you need a patch that perfectly matches the hole you cut out and no warpage. even better would be to use a flange crimping tool that gives a backing for the weld. Here are a few from last fall. stitch welding, chassis reenforcement and paint. one from tonight with the motor in. If we ever have a chance to meet up youll have to re-sign the back of the car. Sam

  19. Nice pics nncoolg. Have you(or anyone else) put your pics to work? Im up to 4 heads now, The rest are on motors I cant get too yet. 3rights and one left. The L is in good shape, 1 caracked, 1 cracked and repaired and 1 uncracked. I scratched at the crack abit to make it more visible. the repaired head looks like an epoxy type product? Sam
  20. That sounds wonderfully ambitious. I was toying with the idea of rebuilding them for practice and tuning but thier weakness' and availibility of more modern soob stuff has put an end to that. Sam
