  1. ya ths funny, i have the auto pull down option on my subie. you push the door up, it stays up just fine, you tap it, it slowly shuts by it self. ill just go measure the length and pick up a pair used for like a chevy truck hood or something. so its used to the added weight.
  2. incorrect, i built a prototype today, i have a hitachi, and its fits with plenty of room tog et the spare in and out, the vehicle i tested it on was my friends wagon, he bought it before i took it home so i couldn't get pictures. fit perfect. and i decided im leaving my sparetire in the back of the wagon, so i made a strait round tube one in like 15 minutes today. i just was given the wrong mesurements by my mom, she said 35 and 1/8th when it was actually shorter, so i am going to redo it tonight and make her fit, even though its raining, and try to get you all some pictures, now please understand, mine looks like crap because the shop saw brke the last blade, we where running low on gas for the welders so my welds look like crap, and i had to use an acedlyine torch to cut it because the ait compressor is still in the shop so i couldnt use the plasma cutter.
  3. ive been through about 5 AUTO Xing corces, had a buddy of mine that has been doing it for about 22 years now teach me and go on ride with me telling me what to do and such. also ive ran my camaro i had on the roadcorce at many different places and have had a great time.
  4. i did nothing but cut thout the stock speakers and splice in the new ones using the stock connector on the doors, and just plugs and spliced the connector tot he cd player. been out in my car, since 10pm, not 11:30pm listen to music, sounds sweet with the 2 pioneer 6 1.2's and the 2 front stock speakers which i still have to replace. i just cant wait till i get my 6X9's mounted to the rear gate, should sound much better. but it ends up the deck i have is too long, it sticks out like an inch too far, so tomarrow im gonna make a 16gage sheetmetal holder at school. and bring it home, that also give me a place to mount my toggle switches, for my turbo, interior lighting, and other stuff.
  5. thanks for all the help, i ended up calling car toys and they had one adapter left in the back corner, covered in dust, im serious, got home and spliced it tot he new deck and plugs it in to the car, bingo, all works and sounds great. i just have to go get some new pioneer speaks for the driver and front passenger door and run some wire to the back hatch where im mounting the pioneer 6X9's
  6. tried, no one carried them for a 86 subaru GL wagon.
  7. ok well i have aftermarket pioneer speakers. i dont plan on rewiring the crap now, dont have the time nor the money. but i see what you mean about shared ground now, i wasnt sure what goes to what, i just hooked up the stock settup with the acc, full power, and ground. and i got the wiring scmetics out of a haynes manual, but i dont understand the crap. like if im soposted to hook both grounds for the left front/rear speakers together then to the stock harness, or what. thanks for any more help.
  8. torxxx, i can try, but i was going to have it bend around the back of the air cleaner on my carbed EA82. i can try making on the does that but im not promising anything.
  9. how did you match the wiring. for the speakers and such, mine doesnt have the wire colors hooked to the deck like i thought, grey and grey w/black, green and green w/black, etc. how did you hook the wires up. please tell me how, color to color. like yellow to black or what ever. thanks for any help if you understand me.
  10. well then i will leave it up to the buyer if you want one that is out of the way, or a strait one. it will be $30 fot the curved, and $20 for the strait then, plus you pay shipping.
  11. i got a question. i just found a EA82 carbed engine and 2wd trans bolted together on a engine run stand in the back of our shed at school. im gonna talk to my teacher on monday to see if i can buy the engine and then go to a bone yard and find the fuel-injection for it, and if i can also the turbo settup to put in my wagon later on. but a buddy of mine told me that he probally wont sell it, school reasons since we both think it was doanated, so what parts should i grab if i can. alt, coil, starter, water pump? thanks for any info.
  12. im in the process of building a strut tower brace for my 86 carb GL wagon. im mocking up a piece of steel tube to bend around the spare tire, between the tire and air box and to the other side and welding it to the stock dinky little one. monday im bending the tubing, and ill bring it home and trial fit it, if it works ill take mine off and weld the new pipe to the old one. i will also doucument the whole process. so if anyone is intrested in having me make you one please speak up now. im going to start building custom parts for my subaru now so my car will be the guinea pig for them like all my other cars. in the past i have built custom lowering blocks for my 78 C10, a strut tower brace, sub-frame connectors and lower control arms along with reinforcing my panhard bar on my 83 camaro i had. ive never had a problem. so if your intrested please speak up. Thanks Shean
  13. ya ill be there for about 3 years, im gonna be at UTI for 21 months, and my girlfriend is going to a college there so im staying until she is done, then we are movin back up here.
  14. my stock gauge, which belive. idle 45psi crusing, 60-65psi w/ 20w50 pensoil, 131,xxx miles also, and its blistering cold. runs like a beast.
  15. ok well what do you guys think is te most important thing to keep these engine running, im a chevy guy also so im more used to V8's and such on their parts, im now getting into these engines AGAIN, keep tight on the 3k oil change, change colant every year. what else?
  16. sweet, thanks a bunch for the help, when i get home from school today ill have to try that. thanks again Shean
  17. ok everyone, i got a question, what year, model, and milage is your car? mine is a 1986 Subaru GL Wagon EA82 4WD 5sp 131,xxx and still going VERY strong.
  18. ok well we noticed this problem when we picked up the car, we took her out again today, me dad seems to think the carb is floddin at part throttle. the car just boggs down and makes the whole car surge forward, but if you let off a little its fine, or of you push right past it its fine. what do you all think, it happends if i have the turbo running or not. ("turbo" off a 84 300zx, its more of a electric blower) thanks for any help. im gonna fix this, and then probally try to track down the oil leak i have thats dripping onto the exhaust. and then try to make a new muffler settup taht will make it sound a little more beastly, but not loud.
  19. well july 30th of 04 im moving to phoenix to go to UTI, and i will be living there for about 3 years. but i dont wheel in my subaru, im tired of off-roading after building so many beasts.
  20. im trying to find info myself, cant find nothing on the net, im probally going to the dealership this week if my mom or girlfriend will take me
  21. what kind of wheels do you have? link doesn't work for me
  22. well its what datsun called a turbo, i dont really consider it a turbo because it doesn;t recitulate the exhaust gases like a normal turbo, its more of a supercharger but on a much smaller scale, since it just has a little electrical powered turbine. all i did was get my stock intake ducting and used the lower peace, it fits right on the outlet of the "turbo", then just built a bracket out of sheet metal until i get back to school from our snow. and just wired it on with the ignition power. i talked my dad into letting me drive it again tonight, but this time in the snow, last time was after the oil change to see if it ran better, (had lisence, but is now suspended for 6 months, only about 3 more to go) i put it in 4LO and it seems to pull harder then it did before. had my dad ride with me and i took him down the cultasac and back up, ginglrley shifted into second and was powersliding it up the street, kicking up sooo much snow, 4wd cars are fun. later i plan on doing it right with a EJ22T swap.
  23. ya i know, actually i got the link to this forum from your cardomain site today. i love your car, i think its sweet as hell. im like 4 miles south of the Sea-Tac airport. in normandy park which is between Burien and Des Moines.
  24. thanks, i paid $950 for it, the interior needed to be steam cleaned because it had like greask on the passenger seat, and needed to be vacumed because they owned a dog that shed BAD. but other then that and changing the oil because it had like over 5 qt.'s in it its a great car. here for pictures, it was a 40hp gain on the 300ZX but i dunno on my carbed roo, ill find out later, it seems to pull a little harder, but i cant really tell because i have a suspended lisence so i can drive on public roads. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/486505/4
