  1. with a disty I could just use the ea82t ecu. I've sen many higher power motors go in lower power cars and use the same ECu. I'd have to upgrade my fuel pump and FPR. with a disty I can runa ej22t and keep my digi dash and all. only real thing i think would be a problem would be that I believe the ea82t uses the disty for cam reference. but I've also seen vehicles (on OBDII) run with no cam sensor. unless the wiring really easy.. I would never drive the car again, lol...
  2. okay found that... I could actually put in an Ej that way... hmm. all the post relate to distys and carbs though, but I don't see any reason an Ej with disty couldn't work in my XT with very little wiring.
  3. what does it bolt too? the back of the head..?? I'm searchinf ord escort disty right now! but if you know i'd like to hear that too!
  4. zukiru posted a topic in Off Road
anybody run mountain trails or just dirt roads in Alabama?? could be fun to do a little cross country runin' or juat plain work on subies if anyone's around.
  5. nah I bought the XT for it being an XT.. I may buy the ea81t vehicle for a donor!! I thought I knew where one was but it turned out to be a 1600 NA, lol..
  6. okay I was sure I saw that ea81t was spfi... thanks for the correction. so EA81T would almost be a direct bolt in.. add mt t3/t4.. and some coolling and it's a party!! most folks wouldn't even know the ea81 was a swap. (not at the races anyway!!)
  7. okay so I'm listening to some advice.. and have almost decided to hunt down the ea81T curious will the ea82 heads work here? I'd like to use that block and have MPFI. or are the heads what makes the 82 suck? also how hard is an mpfi conversion to spfi?? the injector for spfi is almost always on am I correct? and probably increases out -put with revolution? got to be simpler than wiring in an EJ not too fond of the idea of making DIS sytem work in a distributer car...
  8. wish Ejs used distributers.. bah... I could make it work easy that way
  9. that's a little scary, lol!!
  10. this is what I want http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/pushbar/pbar-s2.jpg
  11. how do you lock a rear.. sorry for the thread heist.. but just curious..
  12. anybody know who makes it or who make one that's close. I want a black curved one with a light bar. thanks
  13. mercon-dexron 3 is used in my 98 zx2 (escort 2-door) never had a tranny problem.. the engine does suck balls though.
  14. it's a t3/t4 and I bought it on a ford focus forum.. the DP wasn't really right for that application, either.. so I'm not sure what is was for originally. but the pics give hope rather than doubt.. which is cool. on small thing, though.. the dp on my garret has the waste gate flap built into it and not the turbo. so I may have to use an external. also the downpipe portion itself is 90 degrees off from where it should be. but if the subaru pipe can bolt on it won't be a rea l issue.. I think the turbo was for a longitudinal four banger. or a 4-banger with the exhaust ports by the firewall like the newer focus and some hondas.
  15. glad you mentioned the high temp grease this is very important as the shipping grease IS NOT going to last..
  16. no?? it looks decently close actually.. the DP flange is very similar and looks like the inlet hole is the same size and 2 of the studs may line up... at least not so far off I couldn't make it work.. this garret is new and I couldn't find another buyer. I'd really like to get my money's worth out of it. thanks for the pics.. and good job with the gallery score, Mike Imma have to look at the gallery function.. looks like a good resource.
  17. why put anything non-subaru in?? most people go with subaru for 2 reasons.. boxer engines symmetrical AWD/4WD. anything else is just uncivilized..
  18. exhaust side.. exhaust in and out.. thanks!
  19. want to compare the flanges to this nice garret turbo I got..
  20. wouldn't have any problem driving that here in Bama!!!
  21. I am so sorry! i never knew posting an EJ would cause such a blow up!! I just thought the compare/contrast would make for a good post.
  22. you must have a clog somewhere else causing the gaskets to pop. maybe a cat or something..
