subaru offroad videos
whoever made them, and sold them... please make and distribute more! i am in no way being pushy, or angry, i just think these videos are a great contribution to the subaru way of offroading. i just sat up for who knows how many hours watching "subaru fun" part 3 and 4. very very good stuff. i couldnt sleep! made me feel like it is summer again, instead of crappy mn winter. it also helped me pick a final lift/tire combo for my hatch. some suggestions: use shorter tapes, to maximise profit(in turn motivation) maybe turn it over to someone who could pump them out, cuz they would sell like hotcakes, if there was a supply. sams sells cases of vhs tapes very cheap. thats about it. please consider my request, its just too good for everyone in this community! if nothing else, thanks for making them. its the best offroad video i have ever seen. and i've seen alot of toyota ones...

83-84 Clutch with 82 BRAT (UPDATE!)
there is a tob that will work for you! its got a small center and a big bearing surface, its the same one i used to put the xt6 engine/flywheel/clutch, with the ea81 friction plate. from a 90s nissan pickup. you have to press the bearing off of the cast piece, and press the nissan one on. 87-90 nissan/all should work. mine was nachi/hks brand. sometimes the brand makes the difference. napa sells them with the bearing on the nissan bearing carrier. or just the bearing, all you need is the bearing. hope i read all that stuff right. and i hope this is the key that makes it all work. i resently had a wierd clutch issue. everything looked fine when i pulled it apart, but it wouldnt hold enough power to go over about 60 mph.

I'm swapping spfi engine (88 GL) for a mpfi (85 XT)...
i surely wouldnt tear apart your stock dash for this. use the mpfi harness and computer as a stand alone piece of the car. you can easily wire in two relays, to the mpfi harness, and have it operated by a switch. then you stick your computer under the dash somewhere, or use the long xt harness, and stick it behind your passenger seats, or under them. doin it this way, you could have the engine runing on the floor, and you only have to wire in your stock spfi guages, which will all work, just like they did.

I'm swapping spfi engine (88 GL) for a mpfi (85 XT)...
no. one injector, opposed to 4 injectors to controll. no worky at all. you gotta swap the computer and wiring with the engine.

Upsizing the oil filter possible?
ya, my filter on my 3.0 4runner is about half the size of the one on my subaru... go figure, subaru already did the big filter mod =]
-
The car Subaru never built... but should have.
an open hatch will weigh less than a sedan. hatchbacks are the best!

Upsizing the oil filter possible?
the only one i know for sure that will fit, and is larger is a harley filter. they are meant for the older motors, on dyna models made, before 99. they screw on, and are about 50percent bigger. you can get em in chrome! other than that, anything other than fram, that screws on and has an anti drainback valve.

xt6 pulsating, and very low, to no idle
lookin for my issues with both my xt6s, i thought i fixed this problem, but it only left for a little bit, so i bet i never realy fixed it.

please never use fram oil filters again! (pics)
the main reason for this thread is because i got this filter on a car i bought from a board member... so please, dont mess up any of my potential future motors with frams =]

pics of my mostly finished hatch
heres my disclamer, my front suspension sucks, so i have yet to get a good 2wd dry pavement launch. starts hoppin and spinnin like mad. in 4x, it feels good, and fast.

please never use fram oil filters again! (pics)
i just pulled this filter off o my er27. the damn thing tried to eat itself. the metal pulled away from the body, and was circulating unfiltered oil through my engine. it is a tough guard. it is the second time a fram has done this to me. my friend had a 300z motor suck all of the guts out, and cram his lower end with paper! in short fram sucks. alot. this wasnt user error, or anything of the sort, just a horrrible filter.. use purolator, or subaru!

custom EA82T headers?
something tells me, if you dont buy the inital production run, your sol. they cant be making enough money only charging 400 bucks for the header. for our old cars, tha barely anyone realy mods up, were lucky they dont want 6-8. consider a real turbo can cost around 1k(yes i know about tdo4).... basicaly you gotta pay if you wanna play. unless you have skills.

ea81, and ea82 ball joints the same part?

solid axel subaru.
you guys are givin alot of good info out. thanks =] heres why hummers arent cool. they flex enough, but theres no warning when they will tip, they get to a point, then theres no saving it. we have all seen bigass rigs, with the same size tires damn near drive off an incline ramp thingy... well this video tells it all. http://www.big-boys.com/articles/hummerroll.html solid axles! all the way!

Subiesport Mag 'old school' Project
why not have the best of both worlds, i just did this for about 500 bucks total investment. well, that and alot of sick days from work. on the rx vs xt6 stuff... i have bought two xt6s in the last four months, and one was 100 bucks, and the other was only marginaly more expensive, with no rust. if its any 80s subaru, id say XT6. put 2.5 inches of exhaust on there, and watch the competition shrink away in fear of the big beast! =]

ea81, and ea82 ball joints the same part?
anyone know for sure, is it the same part? ps, i never trust parts stores listings for this stuff.
-
Subiesport Mag 'old school' Project
well, when i think oldschool, i sure as hell dont think rx or xt6. those things are damn near legacies, as far as im concerned. its gotta be ea81. if you can swap motors then a HATCH with ea82t, or er27! if you have to run stock motors, any ea81 with the ea81t.
