  1. So just got done with the SPFI swap and have poor idle and am confused on checking the codes. I have the green and white test connectors they are connected allready green to green and white to white. so right now I get 5 flashes of the red light even while driveing. ummm what do I do now?
  2. HOLY CRAP MY WIFE JUST SET IT ABLAZE BECAUSE OF THE FAN!!!
  3. IT'S ALIVE!!!! God I wish we had the right clutch cable. Pics updates and information about what we encountered to follow. Supernova has made his first Frankenstien.
  4. Yeah and a mention of hooking the switched supply from the reciving cars ingnition switched on circuit to the red and blue lead after the diode inline with the green and white(self shut off) lead coming from the relay on the SPFI harness could have saved us and will hopefully save others. will post pictures and possible video diagrams and explinations. USMB has been a wealth of information but more points of view allways make for an easier to read more complete puzzle.
  5. Yeah that we get and nither one is grounding, but the ground leads are good. If you hook a test light or voltmeter to bat 12v and then to thoose leads you get nothing. Am I missing a ground or power somewhere? Can't see that, every wire coming off the ECU can be traced to something........there goes another clump of hair....
  6. Well here's a bump and an update. everything is in but the disty due to a lack of disty gear that we are waiting on number 3 special long distance order. here is the next issue everything is wired but we have no feul pump signal. I have made sure that we have voltage and conectivity to ground through the ECU harness and there is nothing at the CEL signal wire either.....Is the ECU bad? how ealse do you check such a situation?
  7. It is going well after some work with the local parts houses the feul is 80% plumbed the intake is on new cluth cable is here and the wireing is looking better by the snip. should be soon enough that the Old School Subbie rolls again!!!
  8. Well that was just a thought about the same thought I had. At least I now know that I didn't have an original idea.
  9. Thanks for that! Think it's the same info for a 1990?
  10. Interesting, So you think it would be a signifigantly dificult project to run an WRX Drivetrain complete Arse backwards in a rod or Sandrail project?
  11. So here is something I have been pondering and wonder if I'll find any awnsers or opinions out here. I fell in Love with Subarus a while back and it only gets better. Here's the question. If a guy wanted to rear mount and use a 6 speed gear box and all the other running gear, is it as simple as getting reverse cut ring and pinnion gears cut to make it function(besides and electrical sensor gears). It seems odd that it would be that easy but after alott of thought it really does seem that it would go that easy. USMB ROCKS!
  12. Ordered the gear for a 87 4x4 GL EA81 Carb from the fine folks at Subaru Santa Cruz. Will just have to work on the rest of it till then.
  13. Man that's allot of stuff. and a finely painted garage floor I might add must be nice not rolling around on the dirt:lol:
  14. Just got off the Phone with Supernova and all the parts but feul pump are off the junkyard car. It was an EA82 not an EA81 he was high on roofing Tar or something yesterday and it is for sure SPFI I was looking at the manifold earlier. HEEEEERRRREEEEE WEEEEEEE GOOOOOO! just when I thought that thing was out of my garage for good
  15. MegaSquirt looks Bad Arse I was in love with that pick-up before I read more about it. dreamed of a twin turbo AWD rod and that makes it look easy. little pricey for the 87 GL FI conversion but Bad Arse none the less
  16. So what do we try and put on a stock height 87 GL D/R 3 door for cross duty off road dirt/mud and street commuteing?
  17. Vac leak at base of carb but thanks for all the help and advice!!
  18. So I have a can from a 03 WRX thinking it might just fit a 87 GL. Thought's? I'll post pics if we do it.
  19. Mid 80's GL D/R gonna be so cheap you could replace everything and still come out on top of a 90's car. and the money you save over the years in insurance alone is worth a trip to Vegas or maybe a second offroad car. Just my 2 cents.
  20. Same here would love to pick up one if not two but not worth the divorce that would follow.
  21. Idle issue was Vac leak Carb to manifold gasket. on order unless anyone knows a quicker way to get one.
  22. So should I have 28 degrees advance at 1300 rpm?? working out an idle issue and just wondering if I don't have a timing issue also. I've heard 35 or so total past 3,000rpm and 8-10 at 700 idle for a 9.5:1 carbed EA81 is resonable. any insite?
  23. Ever hear of a Idle Solinoind causing such a problem?
