  1. I think the hatch's are going the way of the BRAT somewhat. But,they really need to be cherry. I sold a really nice one, like yours, to a guy back east for about $1400 and,he paid a grand to have it shipped out there. If you truly want to find the right market for your Hatch, you need to advertise it Nationally. I believe good ones are desireable to folks who have money to burn. That's who your looking for. All that said,I'll give you $40 for it.
  2. Whaterver you do,don't half a$$ the job. It Has to be done with solid construction methods. The opening and closing of the door with the weight of the speaker will test your fasteners. If it's not right, the weight of the speakers will soon tear loose and leave you with a mess. Trust me. I know this.
  3. Well,it turns out it wasn't a blown headgasket after all. I was getting some really weird compression readings at first. I mean like 0 psi to 120 psi to 150 and then back to zero. Strange. So, I put some Marvel Mystery oil in the cylinders and let it set for a couple weeks. I blew the oil out of the cylinders and was getting some decent compression. At least 120 psi on all four. I put the plugs back in and she fired right up. After driving around for a couple hours,I pulled it back into the shop. I'm getting 150 psi on all four cyl. Runs pretty good. Free Rice.
  4. Yup...I agree with Rob. Why risk it. They'r just too hard to find in working condition. Besides,if something was to happen to the digi-dash before the car goes to paint, it might instead be heading back to the Crusher.
  5. Yeah, man. Get your money back. Or,at least try. If you don't you'll more than likely have remorse. Besides, that price is how much I'd expect to pay for a freshly rebuilt Weber. With the problems your clone has, no way would I keep it.
  6. Thats just sealent. Cam Tower Sealent,I think. It's suppose to be like that.
  7. Well.I went to the yard and every ea82 vehicle there, regardless if it was a XT,GL or Loyale has the throttle cable with the lead ball and poly bushing on the pedal end. So,the one everybody is trying to sell me,big barrel lug on one end small barrel lug on the other, is incorrect. That one is absolutly for a ea81. So,here's what I have decided. New loyale throttle cables don't exist.
  8. Well, nothing worked. I went to Schucks to pick up my new cable and it was diffrent. The end that attaches to the gas pedal on mine,'91 loyale, is a lead ball with a white poly bushing. The one Schucks had for a '89GL has a barrel style attachment like the other end that connects to the throttle body, but a little bigger. I called the dealer, too. They couldn't find one listed specifically for the '91 loyale:confused: And,the one they could get was also for the XT,all GL's and pretty much everything dating back to 1980. So,basically the same thing Schucks had. I think, anyway. I'm heading to the wrecking yard tomorrow. See what the deal is with these cables. I know the yard I have been going to lately pretty much has at least one of every model Subaru has made in the last 20 yrs. Except a brat.
  9. That was it. How crazy is that? Past 1989,when the wagon becomes known as the Loyale,"no cable available". But,everybody has one for a '89 and earlier GL. Thanks,Man..
  10. No...I didn't even think of that. I'll call and see if that changes anything. Thanks.
  11. Seems everybody has a throttle cable for the ea81 vehicles.I'm wondering if that will work for me. So,I guess my question is,will the ea81 accerator cable work for a ea82 loyale?
  12. I called a half dozen auto parts stores and looked at Rockauto. I can't find one for my '91 loyale, anywhere. It's not that they'r out. They are saying they can't get them. NAPA doesn't have it listed, either. I can go to the wrecking yard, but wanted to buy new. Anybody got a source for a new throttle cable? Other than the dealer.
  13. You can also put a intake muffler on it. Seems I read somewhere that thats where alot of the noise comes from. I think it would work on a direct drive as well as a belted compressor.
  14. I scored this neon off CL today. It was in the driveway of a house that a realtor lady had just sold. The owner of the house, and the realtor needed it gone before the new owners would move in. Anyway, its a bit of a project. Blown headgasket at the very least. But,its a 5 speed,Sport Coupe with only 130k miles on it. DOHC and,I got a supposedly "good junkyard engine" too. The PO was more of a "replace the engine" kinda guy instead of a "fix the existing engine" kinda guy. Me,I'm a fix the existing engine kinda guy. But,I had to take the extra engine 'cause they needed all of it gone. So,I joined the neon.org board today. I really have no particular interest in this sort of car,but my 15 yr old daughter does. In fact, out of the three subaru's that I have in my corral right now,she would rather drive this thing when that time comes. I'm gonna give the headgasket a whirl and whatever else may be wrong. I'm sure glad it's a 5 speed and not an auto.
  15. Hey man,I was just talking to my wife and she suggested you get ahold of these guys and file a complaint about your insurance company being difficult. It can't hurt. http://www.insurance.wa.gov/consumers/index.shtml
  16. Sorry to hear about all your trouble,Tex. I was burglarized the same exact way a couple years ago. Pryed open my garage door and stole a bunch of tools. They never made it into the house, prolly 'cause they were busy wheeling off my '79 Honda XL650. My insurance company paid for everything. In fact, they called me up a week or so after the burglary, and this guy just started asking what I lost and how much I paid for it and how long I owned it. He paid full retail price on everything, and adjusted down 10-20 percent for age. In the end,I made money on the deal. But,it was a bad experiece for sure. It was crazy, really.I never had to produce a recipt, pic or any other proof of ownership. The bike I lost was not covered 'cause I hadn't rode it in years and had no current policy on it. I did get it back, thou. Some guy bought it off CL and tryed to get a title for it at the DOL. I guess it was red flagged in their system 'cause the lady at the DOL called the state police and anyway. I'm blown away at the resistance your insurance company is giving you. I'd at the very least consult with a lawyer.
  17. It had a hood. I didn't look too close at it's condition. As for the cosmic blue,I only know it as light blue. It is the common light blue color that ea81 wagons came in.
  18. I was there yesterday. The one by the Airbase on Steel st. There is a lt. blue ea81 wagon. 2WD with a complete power steering set up. Missing pass. door. Interior is kinda rough. I only saw one ea82:confused:. Several ej22 vehicles.
  19. I'd take a two or three inch piece of vac hose and connect the two nipples to each other. And then I'd just move on. As to where they go,I have no Idea.
  20. I can't contribute much except to say that I have seen that valve in that location before. It was on a parts car I had for just a short while. I have always wondered about it. I just thought it was part of the block heater.
  21. I just ran across this ad on CL. I'm not affiliated in any way. In fact,I've never even been to it but,if I was home,I'd probably go check it out. http://seattle.craigslist.org/skc/pts/1394657658.html
  22. If I wanted to buy the best ea81 engine I could find, and didn't mind spending a few bucks,I'd seriously consider these guys. http://www.ccrengines.com/
  23. Did you check the fuse panel? The one under the dash. Maybe the jumper wire grounded and blew out the Ign./Fuel fuse. Or,some other fuse.
  24. Thanks for all the Great advice. In the end,I think it was corroded wires or spades. After pulling the relay out and unpluging and replugging a couple connections, the pump started working again. So,this wagon is shaping up. I have to do a little cleaning, but its straight and the paint is good. I'm thinking about staying with the Northwest Green color. But my wife and kids are really complaining. I may in the end have to go back to the burgandy/red.
  25. Welcome Back,JesZek!
