Probably why I haven't made one. I don't even put a engine hoist on them anymore so long as my brother is around. We just lift um by hand. For now,at least.
  2. Yup..Valve cover gasket. The last set I bought from NAPA came with the grommets, too. The grommets are installed on the valve cover bolts in place of regular washers.
  3. I never even thought of it,Jeff. I have been messing with the ea81 cars for so long,I kinda forgot about that. I'll do some research on it and check it out. Thanks,Man.
  4. I'm trying to make this 1993 Loyale run. I got it free with lots of timing components missing. And,the oil pump was off. Anyway,I have it all back together. If fuel is the intake,it starts. In fact,I bypased the fuel pump electrical system, put 12V directly to the pump and it runs pretty good. Initally,I could hear the pump cycle for a second or so when I turned on the ignition with the key. That ain't happening anymore. The pump is silent. Except,of course, when I put 12V to it. The fuse in the block that is marked Ign.Fuel is good. And,I have 12V of power in that slot when I put a Volt meter on the two tabs. I'm going to replace the fuel pump relay tomorrow with one I get from the yard. Any other advice on what I might check? What about the white plug that plugs into the back of the Alt.? I know its related to the pump, but if I have 12V at the fuse, can I rule that out as a potential problem?
  5. Just wondering what size tire size you went with? And,is your wagon lifted?
  6. Alright..Thanks. I'm going to just bolt it on and give it some hella torque. I pulled the crank sprocket off the engine at the yard. I looked it over and put it back. I don't remember seeing a pin or a key way.
  7. The pully has a hole for what looks like a pin. I don't know. Something doesn't add up. Looks like I may have left behind a pin that sticks out of the belt sproket.
  8. I'm trying to put back together a ea82 engine that someone didn't finish a oil pump/timing belt job on. I had to go the the wrecking yard today for a crank pully (original one was lost). Found one, spun the crank bolt off and was on my way. So,I go to install it on the end of the crank and it seems there should be a key way. Should there be? Or,is it just held on by the torque of the crank bolt? I just did a bunch of front engine work on a ea82 a month ago. I can't remember this part. Thanks. (I searched,no answer)
  9. Glad to hear it's just computer problems. Thanks for the info.
  10. Seems he hasn't been on the board in over a month. Hope everything is Ok.
  11. Did you pull the motor to do the head gaskets?
  12. I'm sure you have checked, but is the car out of gear? If it is,you need to pull the spark plugs and try turning it then. If that aint working, pull the dizzy and try it then. If that still isn't doing it, then I can only guess that the starter motor has jammed the drive gear into the flywheel teeth and isn't releasing.
  13. IMO,this is the million dollar question. And,the 800 lb gorilla. There's no better way to make a 13 yr old hate a BRAT than to end up having to take it away 'cause he ain't taking care of the school business. All A's and B's? That's pretty optimistic, maybe not for your son but for mine, I'd be setting us both up for disappointment. I say buy the Brat, give it to him up front, and explain to him you'll only help support the project if he's trying hard in school. The more involved he is in school, the more involved you are with the Brat project. If he'd rather screw off in school, the Brat can sit outside in the rain. He can explain to his girlfriend why they still riding bicycles around town. If he's focused on improvement in school, the Brat sits in the center of the shop under the bright lights. Personally,I'm more focused on the quality of my children's character than I am on their grades in school. Of course, I want them to be relatively honest and somewhat motivated. But,most of all,I want them to show up when they say they will,do what they promise and never be late for anything. Those are the things that are most important to me.
  14. Do you have a radiator flush kit? The kind that you splice inline into one of the heater core hoses? I would be for flushing the engine cooling system and radiator and stuff. You don't want or need that chemweld stuff in your engine. Sounds like your doing some good work.
  15. I just might hit you up. I have two.Need a couple more. This guy was willing to sell the whole car to me for scrap weight. But I didn't have my trailer and I wasn't going back. Besides,it was a runner with a knock. I probably would have kept the thing and tried to fix it. I'm glad I didn't go down that lonely road.
  16. I thought about that on my long drive back. Thanks for confiming that, thou,Jeff. I'm sure I'll run into the situation again.
  17. Thanks. Fixed it. And thanks for the other info,GD. Saves me a bit of a drive.
  18. Thanks guys..I knew I'd get some genuine sympathy here. I guess the worst of it is over now. I know where a peugeot sedan "yard ornament" is right here in Olympia. Been there for years. I stopped and asked about it once. I kinda got brushed off. I'm going to give that another shot. Maybe this time he'll call the cops.
  19. Hopefully it is just a hose. Yeah, some pics would be helpful.
  20. Did you guys know that you can't fit 13" steel Subaru wheels onto a Peugeot car? I didn't. But,I learned the hard way. Long story short, after a few emails, setting up a time and date, coming up with a set of subi steelies with tires on um, and driving a million miles, I had to walk away from a pristine set of eight spoke alloys with near new 205/60r15's. A CL deal gone bad. I had the sedan up on a jack, one wheel off and the friggin subi wheel wasn't going on. For one,the brake caliper was way too big. And,it looked like even with the caliper removed, the brake rotor was going to be too big. I think I could have mounted the subi wheels backwards, but the guy wasn't having it. That part kinda sucked 'cause in the beginning he just didn't want the car to not be able to roll. I think I could have got it done. But,I didn't get the chance. Anyway. I just wanted to pass that info on in case someone else was gonna go rescue a set of pugs from the crusher. Don't take Subaru wheels and think your just gonna do a simple wheel swap. In the end,the car went to the crusher.
  21. If you put some kind of block sealer in there and it worked ( I use the word worked very loosly here) than I would think its gotta be a small leak. I guess that stuff would seal up a cracked, external water line, but I would think its prolly something else. Cracked head? Did you have the heads pressure tested when you did the head gasket job? How did the valve adjustment go? Sounds like your at least driving it now.
  22. I'm wondering what kind of 5 speed came in the GL 4WD Turbo wagon in 1987? Is it the standard Hi/Lo 3.9? Will it have the 4WD shifting lever like in the other non-turbo wagons of that era? Or,is it a push button single range 4WD? Thanks.
  23. Yeah. A wood burning stove raised up about 4 feet off the deck so you dont have to break your back to load it up. Weld on some angle or pipe. Whatever it takes.
  24. Engine exhaust port and hose so you can run your car inside. Cinder block structure Outside and up against the bldg. for the air compressor. Less noise inside. One bay with tall roll up doors on both ends so you can pull in and pull out with your boat. You'll never have to back out.
