  1. Hello All. I have been in Wash DC for the last week, what a deal, job just keeps getting better. I am back now. r/PK
  2. John, Can I Paypal you or another source to get money into Jason's fund? Thanks, Patrick.
  3. Sorry to hear. This is a common problem I am learning. My 2.2 did same. To fix, I removed the pulley, timing belt (radiator, etc) to see the worn key and very large slot it is supposed to be in. The crank gear wobbled too - argh. Removed it, then I put a new key in the slot and held it in its correct position with vise grips. I then used a MIG welder to fill the area around the key. Regular torch would be too hot I think, so the MIG was the ticket. I then filed away the excess to re-create the ideal slot. (took quite a good time to file though) I had to buy a new pulley since the old was too damaged. Put everything back on with new timing belt, and she runs perfect... over 2000 miles since. Not an easy fix, especially if you dont have the welder, but it is done right. Good luck.
  4. ...nothing a good set of 14" Peugeot alloys and 195x70s couldn't cure. I think they are the perfect size for stock. I have them on my 82 Brat now, and it purrs beautifully at 75mph. (boy, I miss the Loyale too). I found a set at the Oceanside Ecology yard, just a skip from Encinitas for $170. I might sell these with caps, lugs, and tires (50%) for $200. Let me know if interested. r/PK
  5. Well the Legacy runs like the shiznit, I love it. Been to triple digits already, smooth as silk. I guess I can drive her for awhile with the noise until I find another trans to swap as that WILL be easier than both pulling it out then apart then back in, so thanks. 5 speed DOES rock. I believe mine is 3.90 ratio, are most of the Legacy 5 speeds the same, or did they get some 3.70 too? (I know the newer even have 4.110 and 4.44)
  6. Hello All. So I've read a bit about the 1st year Legacys and the main bearing failures in the manual transmission. Has anyone just changed the bearing? ... or is finding and relacing the trans best? All gears are great, no grinding or whining... I mean except the obvious main. I have changed the main bearing on a Borg-Warner 4 speed - real fun. Cheap, but labor intensive. thanx, PK
  7. ...anyone ever just replace the main bearings in the trans vs replacing whole trans?
  8. Hey Zap, can I get mine in the 16 x 9 wide screen format? {pre-release ordering } ... formerly pkdavis300
  9. No lynching. I lived in Cool (you'll go thru it to get to Georgetown) for years. Back in 1986, when I had a new 86 Trooper (people didnt know what it was, thought it was a Land Rover then, cause I completely de-badged it.) I was told not to leave it alone, lest it will be shot up. I said is that a threat? He said just advice. Gofigure, rednecks in California. But times have changed. We are in the era of 50-year-old CEOs riding Harleys. The Hatch Patrol will be just fine. I am soooooo pissed I am not there. Best of luck and skill. Make us all proud. r/ PK.
