  1. hmm... I can make it, but the kids wanted to come , and it would be the first 3-4 days of school missed. What moron superintendent denotes school start on a Thursday (26th). Dumb a$$, then Labor Day holiday follows? When I was growing up (still), school ALWAYS started AFTER Labor Day. ... still pondering
  2. To quote Fez: "Son of a b!@#$" School IS back in. I dunno, I'll have to re-group . r/ PK
  3. Need to plan vacation. Got any "best guess" choices yet for date? Not as concerned with location right now, but try not to push it into Canada, eh? I would like to vote for the O'Regon venue. Save me some travel time. my $0.02 thanks, PK
  4. Hi there, sorry to name names (ref Seinfeld? ha) Anyway, I am sure you can help. I am replacing my 2.2 NA in my 1990 AWD 5 spd Legacy. I am going with a JDM, and the EJ22 is $800, and the EJ20 (SOHC NA) is $450. I am told they are dimensionally identical and I can use my intake, exhaust, ECU, etc for smog compliance and it should run just fine. Here's where I would like another expert opinion. The EJ20 is a JDM not offered in USA. This is supposedly the SOHC non-turbo, run-of-the-mill engine that they have high quantities of, hence the much lower price. Can I get your opinion, please? thanks, PK p.s. others feel free to chime in too
  5. Okay, best price and reliability seems best to replace my EJ22 with a JDM EJ20 non-turbo. (supposedly the EJ20 and EJ22 NAs are same SOHC motors and interchangable). I am going to swap motors and keep all my original wiring, intake and exhaust. I understand the transmission fit is fine. 1. Will original wiring work? 2. Will my EJ22 intake and exhaust manifolds BOLT RIGHT UP? 3. Will ECU be fine? Thank you all. r/PK p.s. $425 for longblock with 25-40k miles. p.p.s HP is 122 for the EJ20 and 135 for the EJ22 - hmmm, $350 for 13 hp? still maybe worth it, huh?
  6. My Brat is too nice to lift and beat. Its 95% restored, so someone else can finish, treasure and enjoy it. Okay, cant hold back, here's the Legacy deal: 4-inch lift (3" body, 1" susp), 28" M&S, AWD 5 speed. Although no low range, I have the 3.90 gears and 135 hp EJ22 - should do okay in the dessert - eventually get the LSD too. It'll be something I'm not afraid to rock and roll with.
  7. Tom, got you covered. Hey Jared. February may be too soon for me, sorry. Going to sell the Brat next week anyway, and finish lifting the Legacy. Will try to get together soon. r/PK
  8. I think I've got everyone covered. Will do emails tonight (workin in a coal mine ) r/PK
  9. Replaced mine- it is in the lower radiator hose flange on motor. I think 3 bolts - very easy. r/PK
  10. Hello All. My 1990 Legacy AWD 5spd needs a new motor. A local JDM importer has crate engines with the ej20t (including turbo) for $300 less than the ej22na. I know the wiring harness and computer? are diffferent. Is it a workable transplant? Also, will the ej20t bolt to my 5 spd? ... or should I try to find an ej22t? (rather not spend the $$$ though PK:argue: ) thanks,
  11. ... just spoke with him at 12:30pm. He is east of El Centro now, through the mountains but in and out of cell phone coverage. Should be easy into Yuma now, as he's past all the hills and just cruising through desert slowly. We have Santa Ana conditions now, and its warm 70-80 degrees. I met with him last night midnight in Orange County. He has the rear diff making terrible noise. Seems it may have cleared up, but still tking it slow. He said he'l call when in Yuma.

    lift discounts?

Tex/Chris. You da man. Can you confirm that the the three mounting holes were also perfectly correct for the EA82? That was my main concern, as my 90 Loyale EA82 did not have a plate, and I haven't been to a junkyard in many, many months. Yes, I 'll take the steering shafts, and reward your efforts. thanks, PK

    lift discounts?

Yes, most of the EA82 kit buyers do not have skidplates. Most of the EA81 kits do, and I have been making it standard there. I will make it an option for the EA82 from here forward, and include it when asked, for $10. If Jonathon still requires one in the spring, I will throw an extra one in or him at that time. cheers, PK
  14. Hey John, I searched the members board for 40 mins. Best I could find was "zooma37" whose profile says Southern California. Noting above - HardcoreSooub is at Vandenberg- west of Bakersfield that's about it, sorry. (Note - I'm not volunteering anyone) r/PK
  15. Hey Brian, put me down for one, and I'll drop a check in the mail this week. thanks, PK **09Jan04 - I put 22 rubles in the mail this morning

    lift discounts?

Skidplate spacers come with the EA81 kit, but not the EA82 because of demand. Jon, I know you have asked for the spacer about 5 times, and I said I was going to get it done. It is just an 18 inch long piece of .120 wall 2x3 box tubing. I cut them like a trapezoid for appearance, and drill the holes to match. I thought you and others could wing it and do it yourselves. ___________________ \__________________/ I haven’t had time (in the last 6 months, I know LOL). I will try to include them with new kits, and offer them for a small fee to others without. As far as the price goes, there is no sizable profit in building these. After you price raw steel (new, not scrap), graded metric bolts ($), zinc plating, printing, packaging and shipping costs, royalties to BYB, and about 10-12 hours labor each – I get to enjoy making minimum wage. Oh yeah, I forgot investments in the MIG, drill press, grinder, saws, expendable weld rod, drill bits, cutoff wheels and grinding disks, electricity and shop costs… all in my free time after working my normal 40 hour week. If I didn’t enjoy this, I would be a Greeter at Wal-Mart and make more money. Respectfully, Patrick ‘PK’ Davis.

    Body Lift Kit

Yep. I will finish the Legacy lift now since I blew up mine and its in the garage for a bit. I will lift it before replacing motor. The BYB lift works now, but doesn't allow for larger tires without changing the struts. ( the stock coils are over the tire and prevent from using tires that are more than 1/2 inch taller than stock.) Same for the Scorpion. I am working that solution again and will create a dune-worthy Legacy after the new year. Old Legacys have tires 185x70-14 (about 24.2"). I will use 27-28" tires after the lift. New Legacys have tires 205x65-16 (about 26.5") Hopefully, they should be able to run 28" +/=. Unfortunately, after the new year. Meantime, Happy Holidays
  22. Hey John, I still get an undeliverable receipt for your indra.com addy. We had this prob before. Email me an alternate please. Take care, have a good Turkey day. r/PK
  23. I am back. Contact me at pkdavis@ozified.com Sorry for being a stranger, work is killing me, but son and I are hard at working the lifts now. r/PK
  24. Hello All. Need some feedback on the WRX with automatic - sounds blasphemous, but I have an SVT w/5 speed, and I am TIRED of the city commute driving/shifting. SOOooo, I want an auto trans, and I want the wagon for usability. 1. How's the power in the hills - does the trans hunt back and forth betweens gears? 2. How's the back seat for passengers on long trips? 3. How's the Sube stereo w/subwoofer - good enough or pass and get aftermarket? 4. Add a trans cooler (every auto trans could benefit I'm sure)? thanks, PK
  25. :madder: :madder: :madder: :madder: :madder: :madder: :madder: madder: :madder: madder: :madder: 'Tis a sad state of affairs - No rain for > 180 days and 90 degrees all summer = firestorm. I got to watch flames all night, scary, waiting packed in case of evac... but myself and family/friends were blessed. Many others were not as fortunate. My Marine base was on fire too, right to the tarmac. Smoke now is causing terrible air quality. Hopefullly, worst is done, though we lost a firefighter I think they are saying $2 Billion damage. Boy, Ahnold has his hands full now. Thanks Qman for the phonecall. All is okay in my camp. I'll call you this weekend.
