  1. How many miles on the brake pads?
  2. I had mine done by someone who knew how, took a couple of hours if I remember correctly. It was done by a member I connected with here but he hasn't shown up on the forum in years.
  3. I had an enormous backfire once that blew the exhaust out. I had just come from picking the car up after detailing and engine steam cleaning. Something got wet under the hood that shouldn't have, I wish I could remember what. Had to have been something electrical tho'. I think it might have been the distributor.
  4. I bought a rebuilt Hitachi several years ago and it was still crap. Switched to a Weber and never regretted it, or the money spent. Think of a Weber this way: it's a one-time cost and lasts for as long as you want to drive the vehicle. Check with this company for a Weber: http://www.carburetion.com/index.htm
  5. A huge Thank You to board member wclarkson for supplying me with a replacement.
  6. I bought my '86 wagon in Englewood but I live in the northwest now. We'll be there in spirit.
  7. I often wonder just how many intact, un-altered 1980s Subes are still left. Ones that haven't been turned into FrankenSubes. Whether they are in running condition or not. Left pretty much alone. No matter what make & model a car is I would never leave it to rot.
  8. When I changed over to the Weber I kept all the parts that came off related to the Hitachi, including the carb, which was working at the time. It would be all the components as I don't want to get rid of them piecemeal.
  9. Very sad to see a Subaru in that condition.
  10. Thanks. I already have a source and one is almost on its way to me, thanks to another board member.
  11. When I have to replace a bulb in a light that comes in pairs (left & right) I replace both sides at the same time. That way both bulbs are the same "age". And if you're right there doing one, might as well do both sides. Bulbs are cheap.
  12. You mean the whole assembly and not just the bulb, is that correct?
  13. That would be great. I know there are a few out there, it's just finding them. I stopped at the local Subaru dealer just to see if they listed them. I knew they wouldn't be able to locate one but I did get a part #: 84201GA860
  14. Hard to imagine my little owie wiped out the guy's quarter panel and headlamp assembly. But then, it was a Nissan Versa.
  15. On closer inspection all I really need are the plastic lenses but I don't suppose those are separate parts. Miraculously the bulbs are untouched and functioning as usual.
  16. Here is what I need, but for the left side. The newer the better. Ebay has a used one but it's kind of a mess. My right looks pretty pristine so I'd like one that matches. If a new one can be sourced that would be ideal.
  17. The traffic was taking off from a light and there were several cars ahead of me but the left lane was open. The Nissan Versa behind made a sudden decision to hop over into the left lane and didn't allow enough clearance and clipped my driver side tail light. It sounded so much worse than it was. It was a high school kid, with his mom. He probably only has a learner's permit. A real nice kid - I thought he was going to cry. He legs were shaking. He kept saying how sorry he was and I felt so bad for him . They had insurance but my damage is so minimal (surprisingly) that I don't want insurance involved or to mess him up in any way.
  18. Or the part number. Or a source. Subie girl got hit in her left rear today, first contact she's ever had with another car. Poor fella' was driving a Nissan Versa and Subie girl wiped out his front quarter panel and headlight. Subie girl's damage"? Broken tail-light. That's the difference between a solid steel bumper and newer cars that are made out of tinfoil.
  19. Check with this company. They offer pick up as well as shipping and they're in Auburn WA, http://www.carburetion.com/index.htm
  20. The gray metal rims in the 2nd picture down look like hubcaps that could be on any ol' car.
  21. The gray metal ones are borrrrring.
