Car Alarms For Old Subes?
For sure.

Car Alarms For Old Subes?
Oh yeah, there. Criminal organizations steal luxury cars & desirable vintage cars ship them to buyers overseas. They are very sophisticated. So are the thieves who steal cars for chop shops. Maybe it's an American thing.

Car Alarms For Old Subes?
It's damage to the outside I was concerned with, not theft of the car. I think the local dopers are too stoned to drive a manual-shift car. If they ever knew how in the first place.

Car Alarms For Old Subes?
Plenty for everyone then.

Hitachi Carburetor alternatives
No doubt just anything can be kluged together to make an old Subaru run. I picture someone the car has been sold on to trying to work on it and after getting under the hood going "What the......?? Just one more Frankensube.

Car Alarms For Old Subes?
The meth tweakers here looking to break into cars to steal whatever they get their hands on ride around on bicycles so they are much more agile at getting than any police vehicle. Like most U.S. cities and towns we have a meth problem. Sophisticated car thieves are pretty well non-existent here.

Car Alarms For Old Subes?
I have no worries now, the one I thought I might buy to save it from being scrapped or cannibalized sold to someone so I don't need to rescue it. My Subie-girl is always parked in a secure garage unless being driven.

Sold.

Hitachi Carburetor alternatives
If you're going to drive your Sube for a long time, spread the cost of a Weber over the years. For instance, say a Weber is $350 and you can and do drive the car for 7 years (an example). $350 divided by 7 years is $50 a year. Pretty cheap for the power & reliability you get from the Weber.

Hitachi Carburetor alternatives
I think all the Hitachi carbs in vintage Subes have a flat spot. I got the Weber and never looked back. What a difference!

Junkyard GLs
A working AC compressor would be nice. Not that you'd know if one worked or not. I wonder, if they have automatic windows, if the window controls are any good.
-
Car Alarms For Old Subes?
I have a dawn-to-dusk automatic light ( what is called a barn light in the U.S.) mounted on the peak of my garage. Unfortunately that wouldn't stop anyone who's high on meth looking to break into cars. When they can't break in or they do break in and don't find anything they take out their frustration my causing damage. Vandalizing cars is a cottage industry here.

Car Alarms For Old Subes?
There wouldn't be anything in it to steal. It's exterior, malicious damage I'd worry about, like smashing a window. Oh well, it was just a thought I had, that maybe something was already available that I wasn't aware of.

Car Alarms For Old Subes?
It's not stealing the vehicle I would worry about, it's vandalizing. People destroying something just because it's vulnerable and because they could. Like some a-hole walking by a car and keying it, for no reason at all.

Save This Subaru!
It would have to be on what is probably the biggest, busiest interstate in the U.S., I-5 (goes north-south from British Columbia to Mexico). Pushing would not be an option.

Save This Subaru!
I would take it if I had a way to get it from it's location in Kalama WA to my house in WA, which would be a distance of about 15 miles.
-
Car Alarms For Old Subes?
My intention would be to have it activated on my car if it was sitting parked behind my garage immediately adjacent to an alley that was used by all manner of foot and vehicle traffic. Just want to keep anyone away from it who had plans of trying to get near it with intentions of vandalizing. Which is the point of any car alarm, I suppose. Like I said, an untapped market for a potential industry.
-
Car Alarms For Old Subes?
I want one that would scream if anyone touched it while it was parked, unless they had my permission. Seems like this would be an untapped market since there are so many vintage/classic car owners.

Car Alarms For Old Subes?
Does anyone have a car alarm on their vintage Subaru? If so, do you like it? Is it hard to install? Is there even such a thing?

Save This Subaru!
It's an '83.

Goodbye Hatchback
That is correct, they won't pony up to repair if the vehicle isn't deemed worth the money, or is valueless. I think that's all car insurance companies.
-
Save This Subaru!
Yes, and they are advertising to scrap it. I told them no, no, no. It's not a Justy but a Loyale hatchback?

In Kalama, WA : 1983 Justy (I think it's a Justy, I'm no good with models other than sw's). Red, manual trans. Body looks to be in good shape. Blown head gasket. Owner has title. Wants to sell for scarp but it's too nice looking for that. It's on this Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/longviewkelsoeverythingbutclothes/ The seller is Danielle Anderson Degryse See if this link works:
