  1. That's cool, I plan to make new lower controll arms any way:D
  2. Are the front brakes on an EA82 any bigger or better than on an EA81? Can U use EA82 front steering knuckles on an EA81? When U do the rear disk conversion on an EA81, what all do U need to do? (ie: master cyl. , lines, proporshining valve, ect.) EA81 brakes.....I don't like 'em! I miss my 4 wheel discs!
  3. Was it better than the Hicrapy? I ask becaus I'm getting a re-built Solex for free from a guy @ work;)
  4. Bek, if U see this, I have the green wagon. It runs GREAT, but with all this rain I don't think it has enough cluch to get down the road. It has no tags, and no Ins. on it right now either. Sorry:(
  5. Yup! Don't remember the size, but they are "Unubtaniom" now. Hows that side draft workin' for ya?
  6. So no one has tried a solex off of a bug?
  7. 1) What carberator are U using? 2) How well dose it work off road?
  8. So how did it go??? I haven't seen the car yet. Is all well?
  9. Do U have to do any thing special to the engine to use hyd. lifter heads on a solid lifter engine?
  10. Any one know how much bigger? Could U just have the older heads cut to take the bigger valves?
  11. I don't know the cost, but a compleat SPIF sys. from an EA82 car would bolt on, just need the computer&harness with it;)
  12. Yeah, I'm using the knuckel from the 2WD. It should be fine now (I deal with alot of this type of stuff @ work) just thought it was a stupid fix for a siple problem:rolleyes: That's good to know on the bearing $$ @ Napa, I thought they would be alot more for the fronts.
  13. Out of all the stock EA81 heads, what are the best ones? As far as flow and valve size that is.
  14. Found somthing strange when I did the pass. side wheel bearings. The one on the inside would slip right in after I pounded out the old one. Looks like the old one spun in the housing and @ some point somone tride to fix it by beating on the out side of the housing(trashed the grease seal too). So I heated it up and let it cool, that helped to make a tighter fit. I put it (new bearing) in with some red loc-tight. New bearings, new grease, new seals:D I will put the knuckle on the car today and see how it sounds after that;)
  15. OK, I jacked it up and tested. Driver side= NO PLAY at all Pass. side=just a little bit of movement. So I'm gessing that if I feel any movement at all that it's bad?
  16. Nice work! That's a lot of bending to keep it all strait! U gona do a lift on that one too?
  17. Can front wheel bearings sound like a bad CV? If they are REAL bad?
  18. I didn't know that the big valve heads didn't start till '85, I thought that they started in '84. Thank U;) If I do it, I know that it will need a big scoop to cover it, but I was thinking of just having a hole with the air cleaner sticking out:-p
  19. Cluches and CV shafts are allwase needed, and the mark up on cluch kits is OUTRAGUS in my area:eek: And we all need cluches, alot:D
  20. OK guys, I'm kicking around the "turboed carb EA81" idea (and I know that FI is "better", but NOT for me) and I was just wondrin' if any one out there is running a draw through sys. and could tell me what size carb they are using. I'm thinking of a webber IDA 44mm, or a 40mm. If I do it it will be a stock EA82 turbo, custom pluming, and stock comp. (8.5 I think) on an EA81 with '84 heads and an SPIF intake.
  21. I know of some good places:brow: I may not have ANY bumpers on my car @ that time:eek: so I will have to take it eazy:-p (I got more body panells) Sounds like GD is gona try to come down to pick up his stuff& go wheelin' with us:clap:
  22. Is the windsheeld on my '86 wagon glued in? Or will it pop out of the seal?
