  1. Toyota, Chevy, Jeep, Datsun/Nissan, Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Mazda, all the same 6 lug patern and will work. It's the center holes that difer a little frome one brand/wheel style to the next. but some grinder work can fix that too(but that's a little "butch" for me:eek: )
  2. Ifin' it's smokin' from under de bonnit 2 then it could be a cracked/bad turbo:eek: Mine has the same problem if I let the down pipe sit on a rock or stump for more than a second or 2, but it will go away after drivin' it around for 15-20min. I would still try the PVC 1st, cheep and eazy.
  3. Well, now that we are all seteled into our new board, how about some new shirts to go along with it? I'm not sure who all was responsable for the last run, but I know I LOVE mine and wear them all the time. P.S. Are there any of the old shirts left in XXL?
  4. Iv'e seen it now, and the Q I have is: are thoes the adjustable 4WD shocks U have in the back, and if so what notch do U have the adjuster on in that pic?
  5. That's what I thought it was for:-) , damn I'm good:-p
  6. STAY AWAY FROM TURBOS! not as user frendly, lots more mant., not as good milage, and chances are it would have a cracked head any way. That's not to say they are a bad product, and they are a KICK to drive, but for your needs I wouldn't touch one.
  7. I asked about this a few months back and no one knew, I talked with Adam NDJ adout it and this is his sys. for geting rid of them: Start pulling lines while the engine is warm and runin', if U pull it and it changes the way it runs cap it, if that dose not make it run better it needs it, if caping it makes it run smooth agen then move on to the next. Wored for me, hope this helps.
  8. In Oregon, are U talkin' about "Trail Tuff Suzuki Stuff" or "Hawk Enginearing"? I can throw a rock and hit Trail Tuff from my house, and Hawk isn't to far from me either. I have wheeled with the owners of each place.
  9. Gotta give a BIG THANK YOU! to U guys about that coolant sen. The plug for it was coroded as some of U gessed, so I cleaned it up, put some dielectric grease on it and put it back on. I did all this @ work, and I just drove it home with NO INSIDENT:clap: 1st drive Iv'e had like that all week! In a week of trouble shooting I wouldn't have EVER thought to check that:rolleyes:
  10. OK, the knock controll unit, I'm gessing that is what runs the ign. sys? Can I put a dizy from an EA82 NA carbed car in and let it run stand alone to see if the problem is in the ign. sys.?
  11. Where is the knock sensor? What will it look like?
  12. The tach stays with the engine, same RPM as the engine is turning. But it's also the digi tach, so if it was "bounceing" it wouldn't read quick enough to show it I don't think anyway. I don't see how it could be a fule problem, it has presure @ the rail, it smells rich when I floor it and it's not runing right. And if i dies and I have to hold it to the floor to get it to start agen it pufs out a little black smoke:rolleyes: The ECS light is on and off all the time.
  13. What and where is the controll box for the ignition sys. on an '85 turbo? I think mine is going out. Iv'e got good fule presure @ the rail, but it's cuting out while I'm going down the road, and some times it will just die on me. It's getting worse EVERY time I drive it. I wasen't sure it would get me to work today:eek:
  14. I make front bumpers with a class III 2" recever in them for mounting a winch and such;)
  15. Any one know, are the bodys the same (2WD-vs-4WD) with just solid mounts insted of shocks? In other words, can I use my 2WD body as a patern for a 4WD front bumper, and just make mounts that bolt up to the shock mounting points.
  16. It's an '84, no rear coil springs. I would go with some off road shocks that are longer than your stock units, as much longer as your lift kit. Then U will have heavy dutiy units and U will not have to use the shock extentions that came with the kit. As for the front, as far as I know stock units is the only option.
  17. Good lether gloves, 2 pully blocks, tree-saver, an extra 30'-60' of line or straps, 2 or 3 shakels, and somthing to throw over the winch line while pulling is what I carry. Your Optima is a top of the line winching batt. and should serve U well. If U go for the smaller winch(4000#-6000#) U shouldn't have a problem with just one batt.
  18. Ahhhhh......but will the ATV tires hold up to the weight?:eh:
  19. I make off-road bumpers for Subarus(and anything for that mater;) ). I could make it with a winch mount built in, or a recever. Just shoot me an E-mail if U are interested. As for the winch it's self, I am with Q-man on this one, all U need is a 4000# to 6000# at the BIGEST. And then U aren't halling around a bunch of extra weight for no reason;)
  20. Oh no, don't get me wrong. I wouldn't drive 1 mile on this thing! It is VERY scarry:eek: It's not even strait. And I don't know about welding on the axles after this little project, when I tacked it together, I pushed on it a little to true it up before fully welding it and the tack welds just snaped right out of the shaft its self. Seems VERY britell:eek:
  21. I don't see any way that an air bag COULD fit, there is like -0- gap between the spring and shock. As for the springs, U got it right. As to the 4WD struts/spring, they souldn't be to spendy @ the yard. Round here they are $20 for a compleat set for the rear.
  22. '88 Honda Accord hatch back FRONT springs, if U ask @ the front desk of the W.Y. they can tell U what all years/mods had that same spring. Or U can get the rear struts&springs from an EA82 4WD, they have 3 hight adjustments on them, and on the top seting I would think that they should do the job.
  23. What's that? "I dont have an EA81 front axle and I need one" Well... U do have an old no boot EA82 axle don't U, sure U do! Just take that EA82 unit, cut the shaft in half, cut out 1", weld it back together with a pice of steel tube over the weld, and weld each end of the tube to the shaft, and WALA!! 1 EA81 front axle shaft:D I don't know if I'm a smart guy, or just hate pushing cars around the yard THAT much:-p But hey, the EA81 wagon is now off the jack-stands and infront of the garage now:D
  24. That's OK man, I just found that long part out 1st hand:-p , she don't FIT. I don't care how hard far out U pull the spindel/ strut rump roast. it an't gona fit:eek: I gess I will just put my stub in there so I can put the wheel back on and push it around;)
