  1. I will check on the ignition tips you gave me. When i say clamping i meant like hose clamps that ensure that no air is leaking in. Dunno if im making my self clear. Not to completely clamp off a hose but to secure it. I will try the carb cleaner idea too sounds like i have some experimenting to do!
  2. I have just about had it with vacuum leaks. my motor shakes, my 4wd wont work, i replaced most all of the hoses but the Loyale is just pissing me off more. I throw money at it and nothing got better. I decided the next step will be clamping the hoses or something. Or selling the car. Anyone in Utah want it? I tried to use the clamps that you tighten with a screw driver, but that actually made my 4wd go out completely. Is there better clamps out there that wont crush/ ovalize when tightened smaller?
  3. I have the same problem on the same model and year! But its just passenger so i dont mind is so much anyways if anyone has any ideas please share!
  4. Ah this is great! I'm getting a good laugh especially ^ one! My Subaru would have a hard time doing a canyon here in Utah when i filled her all the way up. She is so gutless. :-\
  5. Ok you guys have helped out a lot. I have had the TOD for about a year and just checking my options to fix it. Last i checked the oil pump is upwards of 200 bucks plus labor. I bought the car for 200 bucks and only need it to last another 2.5 months. So i will do the seafoam then maybe the ATF trick. If it presists then i will turn my ipod up louder. And im going to try and just make my cat ststem work, i will pull it out and do a new gasket tomorrow and see if the internals really are rattling like the local muff shop says. Thanks again!
  6. Ya im not a fan of additives but everyone swears by it so i thought i would give it a try, just dont wanna mess up my motor trying a cheap fix. Stupid sniffer tests.
  7. I figured it will, the car wont be re registered and i know it needs two cats to pass a sniffer test, but for the sake of going cheap i figured its a good fix. It will potentially become just a throw around and play with car. Oh and the TOD is the Tick Of Death. Its the noise your motor will make when oil is not getting to the lifters so they tick badly. Kind of a joke i have about some Subarus. And i love the environment as much as the next guy.
  8. #1 so in an effort to get my car running better, I thought i might replace my ignition coil in my 92 loyale SPFI wagon. I have been told it would help my car start better and send better "signal" to the Disty. I figured one of the "performance" $40 dollar ones from a local parts store would do the trick and maybe be better than stock. #2 Second one, i have horrible TOD going on and lose oil about a half a quart weekly depending on how often i drive. I was told to try the cheap fixes like sea foam, which i bought but i am unsure on how to use it. Should i dump it in with my oil and just leave it? Or does it have to be right before an oil change? #3 Number 3 my catalytic converter's innards decided to start rattling around and my gasket is missing ( the middle Cat under drivers seat). The loud is just annoying now, so im debating just doing away with that cat and putting in a straight pipe to replace that foot of pipe. Pros? Cons? Thanks for your input!
  9. Anyone in or around Orem Utah? Figures this is the place to ask!
  10. Mine just rolled over to 247,ooo (92 loyale) Congrats on the mileage!
  11. HAHA that subaru is Fin sick! Nice dude
  12. Alright sounds good, I will keep you guys posted with how it went!
  13. I found a 5sp DR from an 85 gl wagon for sale for 170 bucks at a pick n pull, is it going to fit without any modifications to my 1992 Loyale 4x4 wagon? And more technical would that transmission year be a 3.7 or a 3.9 gearing? Hopefully that made sense Please help soon!
  14. Alright i have some pennies put away for a tranny and found the 5 speed today! The place already has it pulled and wants 175 no core charge. Sounds kinda high to me but i dont want to wait any more. So just to verify it will fit in bolt and play style? I wont have to get different tranny mounts Etc? And the shift linkage should fit through my current floor plan without cutting? Thanks
  15. haha so true thanks just exploring my resources.
  16. Alright i will leave it alone sounds like. Dang vacuum systems. I hate em!
  17. oh ok mine is a 92 loyale FI with quite a bit going on around the throttle body. Looks like a lotta emissions equipment but i wont be registering this beater again. Any suggestions or should i leave it alone?
  18. Ok so I have been searching local junk yards for a DR and i realized there is a 4 and 5 speed. I obviously want a 5 speed but cant find one. In the event that a 4 speed turns up, i will possibly grab it. The big question is gearing in the final gear i guess. This wagon i drive is my Daily Driver, (i go on freeway often) and i want to keep the high end speeds. (75 at least) I will be upgrading tire sizes a bit to around a 195 70 R14 or so..... So will this all work together to give me about the same stock gear range? Sorry for the long question! and thanks for any help!
  19. So i read here and there that people are plugging their vacuum lines and it helps their power? My wagon is just my beater so any extra power here and there would be awesome. I'm not sure if im mistaken or not though. What in particular should i plug? Thanks for any help and sorry for the vague question.
  20. Haha thats the problem i need an answer to though to "bevel" the rim. I have no idea how you do that. :-\
  21. When you say it like that im assuming they are free? but back to reality:rolleyes: depends on what you want for them and link me to a pic of them if you got one! Thanks
  22. Bump does anyone know how to make the groove for my lug nut to sit in when i drill out the rims?
  23. So the time has come to start thinking about repainting my wagon. I spray painted it last summer and now it needs a new look. This time i will sand it somewhat and intend to use an actual spray gun if its not too expensive to paint with. Anyways Im kinda looking for good looking cheap paint job, but spraypaint isn't holding up, so its the gun or rhino liner. But i know both can get expensive fast. Let me know what your preference is!
  24. Haha yup thats me in good old happy valley! There aren't too many old soob's out here and im probably the only proud wagon owner in the whole city. :-\ Need some more representation out here. Anyways i have been doing my research into the tires for the 16's and the tires will cost more than i payed for my car. And wont give me many off road tread patterns either. So I will be going to the Junk yard Thursday again. i saw some potential 6 bolt options out there yesterday. So, the big debate becomes just drilling 2 holes in the rim or 4 new ones per hub.? Any preferences? im leaning toward the drilling the rim set up but i don't know how to bevel or div it the rim for the lug nut to sit in. Any help/ opinions would be great!
