1. So i researched, and took a picture. When i take a hard left turn my car smokes like a 2 ton diesel whitish blue smoke. But only in that direction. Attached is the photo, and my questions is do i have the updated hose routing or not? I think not? Doesn't smoke any other time visibly through the rear mirror. Thanks Sorry for the bad pic. Nighttime mode sucks on my camera
2. YES! im awesome! But not at math
3. Maybe im an idiot, and probably not far from the truth, but if i put in 11 bucks in gas, and can drive 130 miles, im only getting 11 mpg? Wtf
4. Oh and here is the new Subaru. Just towed her home! I have some alloys but planning on pugs.
5. Today i picked up my new subaru to transfer the motor out of my current one into. The current loyale is rusted out and not worth fixing the rust, so i got a non running 94 loyale to put the motor in! $150 bucks! With CD player, and Rack and 3 alloys. Anyone locally want these wheels? Come with tires. I will post in the classifieds too.
6. So i know i have brought this up a couple times, but my Subaru Loyale 90 is totally rotted out. So i have been keeping my eyes open for a donor car. My motor is in good shape. 1.8 EFI and i would like to transfer it to another non running loyale. I found one locally. Its a 94 Loyale, the only differences i see are power windows. No cruise control. I guess my question is this essentially the same Subaru i have just carried through the years? Would this be a direct bolt in scenario for my motor. Both are manual push button transmissions. Thanks for your time
7. I think im good, only wheel upgrade i might need is some Peugeot's so i can fit bigger tires. One day we will have to organize a small off road adventure or meet.
8. No ideas? I have searched a bit and come up with general hints to adjusting the clutch and hill holder, just wondering if anyone else has a detailed link or experience with their clutch acting up like this. Thanks
9. Sweet another Utah subaru guy! We might get a big enough following soon around here that we could do a meet up and wheel someplace soon. Congrats on the find!
10. So my clutch sometimes will engage at the bottom of the pedal stroke, slip then engage at the top of the stroke in the first and second gear. It it just out of adjustment on the cable? It releases pretty high otherwise. Is there a way to have it engage in the middle of the stroke? Does someone have a link to proper adjustment including the Hill holder? Thank you!
11. Dang i never look in the rally section till today just to see this was yesterday.
12. Ok Thank you for the input. before i pull the trigger on this project, would anyone else give supporting feedback to the swapping blocks? I mean will taking a FI'd block and putting it in a Carb'd car work? Bolt in and go right? Thanks Oh and on the power issue, would removing the AC and removing the belt driven fan and installing a second eletric fan bring the power up? I would probably strip all the EFI stuff for a later date when im feeling comfortable with wiring it up.
13. Ok been thinking again, what about swapping just my block and using its existing carb system? would that work and there would be no wiring involved?
14. dang i was hoping that wasn't the case. If i have to splice harnessed might as well grab a Ej22. Thanks!
15. And just for fun or reference heres a pic of both cars. Mine is the wagon.
16. So i found a parts car locally for cheap. Its an 96 EA82 carb'd sedan with the DR i was going to take for my loyale. Thing is its in better shape body wise than my rust buckett. I searched a bit, and help me if im wrong, but if you were to transplant my SPFI EA82 into his Carb'd EA82 you would have to do wiring harness fun. Am i right? If not is it a pretty straight forward drop in and drive swap? Thank you
17. Ok here is the thing i have been dancing around a bit. One of the plugs was so seized to the threads in the head, that what looks like a heli coil came out with the plug itself and left no threads in the head. So its not just the normal sized striped hole, its even bigger than normal striped hole if you know what i mean. Is there an even bigger tap and coil you can use for this or am i in a real predicament?
18. I was just considering my options. I didnt know if the thread inserts would be a weak link in the motor for the future. But sounds like they are stronger so i will try that route first. I did try chasing the threads but they were gone. on a couple holes. Thanks for the detailed reply!
19. Update, Read my last post on the page for details. Thanks! Dang i feel like i post here a lot but i have learned tons so here's the next question. Still have stripped spark plug holes on my 90 Loyale EA82, been trying to squeeze money lately by riding the motorcycle for the last 2 months. I have heard about the heila coil fix, and im not completely sold on it and am wondering the level of difficulty of just replacing the heads themselves with some down at the pick n pull? Is there different heads within the EA82 model years? Would possible an EA81 head fit? Im assuming with my limited knowledge you just drain motor and radiator, unbolt the heads and bolt up the new ones? is there tuning for the lifters involved? Am i totally on the wrong path here? Thanks
20. so are you thinking in regards to doing the 6 lug swap, then using this to adapt even further down to a precision 5 lug Subaru bolt pattern? Just curious if we are thinking alike.
21. Wow im really excited now. This is an at home lift kit i feel comfortable making! No welding required! Im a little fuzzy on the drilling the offset right. Anynoe care to explain a bit?
22. I would like to make my own 2" lift, after seeing pics like these makes me wonder what is so hard about it? I know camber comes into question, but all the blocks on the front strut look like the same size square piping. And of course the lengthening of the steering shaft and alignment need to be done too. Am i missing something? I know i snaked these pics, if the original pic owner doesn't want them on my post let me know.
23. haha i like that! Thats my level of body work!
24. I stayed up late researching rust repaair using bondo and fiberglass and am really stoked now to try it out myself! It looks like it would be cheaper to to than the foam kit anyways so i will give it a try. Hey Caramanos (face hands? haha in spanish anyways) is it safe and or will it be structurally sound to use the aluminum tape for a base layer? Thanks!
25. I would do fiberglass but i have no experience there and dont know if it would cover that big of a hole. Would it? i looked into the fiberglass repair a bit and wonder if it would contour around a small ledge to hold the whole patch in place, because i havealready messed up and not left enough surface area for it to bond to.
