  1. I know of a couple people that have figured out how to do it but I'm not giving any names since its their discovery and not mine...
  2. I'm ordering up a set with my taxes!
  3. really nothing is a direct bolt in. I have '05 STi seats in my '87 RX and I used stock EA82 seat rails, made custom tabs that are welded straight up on them and bolted my STi seats to those. I have also seen guys basically modify the stock seat rails alone to get them to work but I chose the other route for simplicity and just in case I decide to sell the seats, I can take my seat rails off and bolt them to another set.
  4. Noah, best way to get motivated is have a couple people over and kinda dive into a couple small problems and fix those small problems. Once you get a couple issues resolved, then your motivation starts to come back to get more done. Trust me, I lost most of my motivation awhile ago on getting my EJ swap done but now that I've gotten almost all te parts to finish it AND the funds are becoming more and more to help support the finish of it, I have motivation.
  5. Ha, I wish:-\ Working two jobs kinda takes its toll though on spare time. I'm finally getting money to finish it though! Subaruguru, no DL lights for me. I'm going with a different set but its kind of a secret on what I wanna use;)
  6. I'm not too sure about the pre '77 models but the post '77 models can accept the rear disc brakes but part of the trailing arm needs to be ground down a bit for one of the bolts to fit in there for the caliper. I know for a fact that the EA81 vented rotors and calipers will bolt to a post '77 as I had done it. I then upgraded to the EA81 lower control arms as well but I had to make my own strut rods from round stock. If you can get pics of the way the 1400 is set up, I might be able to help a bit;)
  7. The one I had a few years ago definetly was more pwerful then the stock EA71 I pulled from my '78 Brat. Had much more get up and go and would make the truck leave a stoplight totally sideways. Seat of pants dyno said it had mucho more power. I did a compression test but I can't remember the numbers for the life of me but it was higher then the compression numbers on the stock EA71 from the Brat.
  8. SO I might not be there. I have to work until 7ish so I don't know if I'll work on it then. If you still wanna roll by though, I work just a couple buildings away and can see about making sure there's access to the tranny...
  9. I'd reclock them a couple notches so it sits a hair lower then the front, then crank them back up with the adjustment to get your ride height:)
  10. I don't see why the EA81 vented rotors and calipers won't bolt up. I know they do on the '77-'79 cars.
  11. I pushed a '75 F-100 4wd about 10 miles with a '84 Brat that had a pushbar on it... Yes I said pushed... Did it in 2wd and 3rd gear all the way, except for starting out. Got some weird looks from people passing me and my buddy said all he could see were the KCs that were mounted on the rollbar:lol:
  12. Looks good Brian, I'm impressed! Best EA81 I think I've seen you own since I joined like a million years ago:lol: Oh and crank the rear torsions down a little, make it look somewhat level:grin:
  13. ACK! Thats not how I remember that wagon:lol: Oh out of curiousity, why'd you pull the engine out of it anyways?
  14. I'll probably be there next Wednseday gettin the EJ tranny in and pulling the rear diff so I can make my swap.
  15. Well I'm not sure they have very many gen 1 parts but there is a Pull-A-Part with a 2wd auto '79 wagon in the yard.... I bet if you posted on here what you're looking for or just PM them, they'll let you know what they have. I just went into one part of the yard for my crossmembers:banana:
  16. So I'm bumpin this up for good news! Today I went to Aaron's Auto Wrecking in Seattle and got the needed parts to hopefully finish my swap. I got the XT6 manual AWD crossmembers for the tranny, EJ22T MAF and the 90* that comes off of it and the piping that goes from the turbo to the TB. So now I can finish putting this stupid thing together when I get time. I'm also swapping the 3.7LSD for a 3.9VLSD for a perfect gearing match for the car. Now I just need to get the driveline shortened (which will be reaaaaal soon) and get everything put together!
  17. I wanna thank the guys (more specifically Shean) at Aaron's Auto Wrecking in Seattle for being f***in awesome. They are a Subaru only junkyard and typically they have a lot of parts for older gen stuff. So today, I drove out there to get a couple parts for my EJ22T swap and just out of curiousity, I asked to see if they had a manual XT6 tranny crossmember, the ONE piece I've been needing to put my EJ tranny into my car. Well, they so happened to have a manual AWD XT6 sitting in the yard. Shean was board enough to pick it up with the forklift so I could pull it. Anyways, this is one of those plugs for them. If you need something, ask!
  18. I'm betting on the front main. I had one go out on an EA81 a few years ago and in literally a half a mile, I had a huge smoke show coming from under the hood and oil squirtin out onto the windshield. Towed it home, found the oil had soaked the alternator so I ripped the engine out, stuff the original hydro engine back in with some new parts, and had it running in a total or 2 1/2 hours. 45 minutes of that was doing a rear disc conversion on it too:grin:
  19. Injectors from a EJ20G should fit as they are 440ccs and a side feed (I believe but I could be wrong) setup like whats in there.
  20. Heh, well I need the crossmembers to finish my EJ swap in my RX soooo. My main concern is getting those, the rear 5-lug though is just a bonus for me really....
  21. Lazy, that looks pretty bad. Maybe find a shortblock from someone off the board? What about carfreak's EA82T he has for sale? I'm always weary about getting a used engine unless its a JDM one. I've had issues running used engines in the past and well, I don't think I'd really go that route myself. I've seen the JDM engines got for way cheaper on ebay so maybe look there? Only way I'd buy a used engine is if it was in a car running or I knew it was runnin just prior to be buying it. There is this guy on CL right now for $500 http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/995836759.html Just a thought.... I'd get that and reseal it and throw it in there with your heads and intake:)
  22. If you're serious about picking parts for people, I have a couple requests. First off, is the XT6 AWD and a 5-speed? If it is, snag me the rear rotors and hubs along with the tranny crossmember (should be a 3 piece). If its not a manual, still snag me the rear rotors/hubs and I'll make it worth your while...
  23. Even if the thread pitch isn't the same, you might want to go down to Napa and see if they can find something for you thats longer but will press into the drum and hubs. They might even let you dig around and try and find something and even if you pay a couple bucks for one and it doesn't work, you're still trying to discover how to make it work and everything counts, even if it doesn't work. Just something I'd try to do.
  24. They are the same if you're using the electrical pickup stuff in the '87 and later EA82s. MPFI, turbo and SPFI use the same disty but the electrical 4-pin connector might be different depending on years.
