  1. Where is a good place to find info on a SVX. I am thinking of adding one to the stable.
  2. Thanks, that is what I thought but wanted to make sure. I talked him out of phase I 2.5 outback, so he is looking older now.
  3. What year did the 2.2 become an interference motor? My brother is looking at a 95 Legacy & 96 outback with 2.2. Thanks
  4. Better to be silent and let people think you might be dumb, then speak and prove you are.
  5. You cannot go wrong with a 90-94 Legacy, great motors, built proof drive line. Stick with a 5 speed, AWD and try to get one with Anti Lock Brakes.
  6. IMO go for the GL, if you only have 4k this gives you some padding for the unknowns that always come from a used car. So even if you have to put in a few hundred more you still will have around 2k that you can keep in the bank or invest and not throw away on a deprecating item. . Plus the GL is already at the bottom of the depreciation curve. So you can buy this car drive it for 2 year and sell is for probably what you bought it for. Also if the buyer is asking $1600 go there with Cash in hand and offer him $1200, he will probably counter but you will get the car for a couple hundred less I would guess.
  7. You didn't tell us price, mileage, etc. Remember the 98 will have HG issues and since it is limited probably an auto. As far as reliability hands down on the GL.
  8. So I was wondering what size tires anyone is running with their lifted legacy. I have on some worn 205/70 15 now but getting ready buy some new ones and wondering how big I can go?
  9. Or even better put on some outback struts and lift up your legacy! But rears do not need an alignment.
  10. Thanks! I just found on craigs with over 200k, but want one in the 100k but nice to know they can go over 200k like all other roos
  11. Thanks for the info Gary. I too do all my own car work so I like the chain idea also. But I have replaced chains on Toyota's before what a pia. I like the power just wish the car had a manual tranny option, might have to swap one in??
  12. Great thanks for the info. Is there any way to add a manual shift to the autos of these years? Even paddle shifters maybe?
  13. I am looking at getting into a 2nd generation outback with the h6 motor. I like the timing chain, and lack of HG issues. Any areas to look out for or reasons to steer away from the 3.0 motor?
  14. I am sure about 91 being unique, mine is a 91 and nothing special from the lift I did.
  15. 90-99 will work. And if you want a nice lift go with outbacks look at rides great!
  16. This was more of an GL early Legacy thing. GLs & Loyale oil pumps would leak even after a new oil seal. Legacies oil pump screws would back out & leak but these were easy to fix for good with some lock tight. You won't have this problem with newer roos, but even if you go old a little oil leak is nothing to worry about on a car that will go 300,000 + even with a leak.
  17. I think Forester/Outback Struts are the same height. You can add these to a non-outback legacy to get a lift but I don't think you would get any lift at all. I put outback struts on my non-outback Legacy to lift it. I sit higher than outback now.
  18. This car is begging for a lift! And you can cover up the dent with a bra for sure !
  19. Well at least you didn't spend time testing the wiring or worse. I had an old co-worker who spend $400 at a shop getting this problem trouble shoot until I showed him the button.
  20. I am working on it. 91 LS wagon outback lift 205/70 15 Looking at dual range tranny as next mod.
  21. My 91 just turned 185,000 (still baby) Brother's 92 turned 192,000 We are in a race to 200k
  22. Nice does he sell them?
  23. Did you make that front bumper? or where did you buy it?

Anyone know a way to change the bump stop on a roo? I too have lifted mine with outback struts, love it btw. With outback struts & legacy springs I sit higher then outbacks now.
