  1. Well, if we can't will you still try to come? Or maybe we could make you one? I know, home made isn't the same as OEM, but could we still use it to entice you to come over? I'm looking into having one made for Fenix747, do you want me to get you a price quote? It'd be awesome to have a midwesterner come over. Twitch
  2. Well, not new, but a different body style... The new Sedan STi And that shade of blue is just amazing. Twitch
  3. Glad to hear you got it going. Too bad we didn't nail it down for you :-\ And thanks for posting up what was the solution, maybe this will help somebody in the future Twitch
  4. Swapped hubs on Xandra's drivers side, rear. No more bearing rumble while driving down the road! I was actually able hear the person next to me while driving. Had to swap the studs between the hubs because the other ones were stretched and some of them were snapped off My dad showed me a good way to get my studs to sink into the hub. A nice thick nut with built in washer, a well greased stud and a lugnut, and I got my studs to sink into the hub without issue Twitch
  5. He's just being modest. He is considered the go-to guy for EA advice. (Yes, other people are allowed to inflate your ego GD) It happens all the time around here. You have stumbled upon one of the greatest information stores on Subarus, anywhere, and I mean ANYWHERE. Twitch
  6. Sweet, too bad you didn't yank the tires when you shot him :-\ But it looks good, in spite of the skull :-p Oh, and nice sketches, they almost look like you got them out of a coloring book. Twitch
  7. Hold on, if you were able to lock one diff stub in place, you either don't have an LSD, or its completely shot. And if you accidentally counted every 1/2 turn rather than every full turn, it sounds like you have a 3.9. Twitch
  8. Ehhh, it looks like its trying to copy the mustang cobra's nose. I've kinda liked the Mini's for a while, I just couldn't get over the Fail Wheel Drive. But now, I think I want one! Just change the nose and I will be rocketing down the streets like a madman! (like I don't already :-p) Now I just need to come up with $30K Twitch
  9. I believe you will run into multiple problems with the fact that the Forester is Impreza based, not Legacy based. So some of your bolts, if not all of them, may not line up. You also have to take into consideration the floor shape, the shape of the tanks the location of your hoses (as was mentioned by Fairtax), and all the little things that were already mentioned by Fairtax. And as for the rear end fitting, I'm not too sure, I think the wheel base is different. You may have an issue getting your mounts to line up for the crossmember. I know the struts will fit, with minor modification. But as for anything else, I'm not sure. Twitch
  10. Heh, I'm just a lowly rock hopper, no safety gear, just my balance and good sense. I might join you guys on the smaller stuff. Twitch PS: Just looked it up on Yahoo Maps, 4 hours, not bad, a little farther than going to E-burg.
  11. Your EJ22 is pretty good as it sits, but a hotter plug will help your power a bit. I use Bosch Platinum+2's As for good wires, I currently use Napa "Beldon" wires, they suck. And upgrading your coil most likely won't do much for you. You can run a turbo on your engine, but it requires a bit of fabbing, a new ECU, a turbo (obviously), an intercooler if you want it to run reliably for a decent amount of time, and a few other things I'm forgetting. Somebody with more turbo experience should chime in. Twitch
  12. I would be trying to rebuild that wagon, its a rather rare car. Like, I've only seen 0 in person, and a few on the internet. Or part it out, as there are a fair number of people looking for parts for that engine. Twitch
  13. OK, the quotes I've been getting from shops have been a good chunk more, as in $400-$500 just for them to get the plates And as for replacing the plates, yeah, I could do it with the car just on blocks and in a few hours, I've seen how easy it is to pull the rear housing. And the plates just slide out, so even easier. And if the torque bind is just caused by gunk in the plates, would trans-tune by seafoam work for cleaning it out? I've never used it before, so I just want to know if somebody has used it and if it is a cleaner, or just a conditioner like the rest of them. Twitch
  14. Yeah, there is a LOT of space out there needs to be filled... WITH SUBARUS!!!!! Lol, anyway, back on topic, how far are you from your destination? I'm sure you can't be too far considering you're halfway through Montana. Twitch
  15. Ok, I'll try having her take the fuse out and drive it like that for a while. We just put in cheapo walmart tranny fluid until we can get the problems worked out. If it makes the torque bind go away then awesome, if not, then I guess I'm just going to have to find her a new tranny. Now for the vibration, I'm still hunting that problem down. I'm going to check out the axles hopefully tomorrow. But, I'm almost positive that its not the axles, but being an intermittent problem, it may point even more towards the axles since the problems with them tend to be under specific conditions. Twitch
  16. I've tried that stuff in the past, and it has only really helped hard shifting and the occasional gear stall (not going when you want it to) Well, with the new fluid, the torque bind diminished somewhat. And if it is the clutch packs, I'm just going to swap in a new transmission, its not worth it to pay a few hundred dollars for new clutch packs, when I could get a decent used tranny that's warranteed for 6 months for almost half price. And I'm pretty sure its the torque converter not slipping smoothly, but I need to do more testing with the car, when I get the time. Twitch PS: And there is NO torque bind with the fuse installed, we cannot get the back tires to tear up gravel with the FWD fuse in.
  17. He actually borrowed his mom's caravan :-\ But they made it into missoula around 8 or so, or 9 mountain time. Twitch
  18. Just got a text from Markus56, and he's only a few miles from Spokane Soon to be in Spokane Twitch
  19. I'm getting by with a cheap craftsman set right now, the 156(?) piece set. It came with 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 inch drives. And it has metric and standard from 5mm up to 19mm, and 1/4" to 3/4". It came with a few extras such as a bit driver and allen wrenches that I quickly replaced. But otherwise it has been a pretty good set for the various mechanicing I've been doing. I ditto all the advice everybody has been giving, buy the best you can afford. If you can afford a $1000 set of Snap On wrenches and ratchets, go for it. I have yet to hear of a Snap On tool failing unless being severely abused. So if you can only afford the $20 set from harbor freight right now, go for it, its better than no tools at all. Twitch
  20. Welcome Roger! Believe it or not, but you've got quite a few sube nuts around you. Monstaru, Baccaruda and Mugs are the ones in spokane that I can think of right now, but I know there are more. I'm over in ID, right next to Silverwood Theme Park. We have a few others around here too And, wow, you had a 360 wagon? I didn't even know they made those Feel free to ask questions, but please use the search function first, it makes the veterans around here a little less crabby. Twitch
  21. OK, well the torque bind goes away when the FWD fuse is put in, as far as I know, I have yet to drive the car extensively since putting the fuse in. But the vibration remains. I personally have only been able to get it to vibrate while turning once, all the other times it was my sister referring information to me. So it seems to be intermittent. I'm going to be inspecting it in a little more detail when I can get the car. I fear I may need to install a new tranny. Twitch PS: All of the testing I have been doing has been with the FWD Fuse in.
  22. So, my sister just bought a 91 Legacy LS Wagon with a 4EAT and it has torque bind, but we currently have the FWD fuse in place to allow her to run her errands without squeaking the tires around corners. A little history, the tranny fluid was burnt to the point of being turned dark brown when she bought the car, so we changed the fluid and it fixed the hard shifting. The engine runs great, decent power, the tranny shifts nicely, but it vibrates when turning. But only at slow speeds, and at all angles of the wheel. If you power out of it, it goes away. Any ideas? I'm thinking the torque converter could be hanging up and not slipping smoothly or a front diff issue. The CV axles don't click, but I haven't gotten a chance to crawl under the car and fiddle with them to see if there is any play. Twitch
  23. It should be fine for power transfer. I just think you should probably change your tranny fluid rather often and do as the above post mentioned. The torque converter should do just fine for allowing enough slip while still pushing enough power. Twitch
  24. Thanks Rob Twitch PS: Yeah, you posted in the old thread, my bad
  25. Also, I don't wish to pee in the pineapple, but could you guys keep something in mind for me? I'm allergic to many heavy scents (aka soaps, perfumes, lotions, etc), and certain compounds in foods. So I just make a mild request to check for any sulfur compounds in your items before slathering them on, or making sure your food items are sulfate/sulfite free before offering? Since we will be outside I should be ok, and I'm very diligent about it, but I'm severely allergic and a trip to a hospital for an asthma attack will kinda kill the atmosphere... Thanks for your consideration... Twitch
