Something Unusual (1958 Goliath)
Hey, that's a real piece of our automotive history. The Goliath/Lloyd H-4 was the model Subaru used when they went for horizontally opposed engines, not the Volkswagen as some think! Good luck with it--hope you can get it reasonably restored some day.

trans drain and fill with hd is good!
Olnick replied to subaruplatt's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSorry ron, but only you can decide which is the best way to go--flush or drain-and-fill, how much to pay for fluids. But you might be interested in the numbers shown here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showpost.php?p=621866 Good luck!

Changing cam and crank seals 96 Legacy 2.2
Olnick replied to Redhat's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXFor the oil pump I would stick with what's recommended--Permatex Ultra Grey or an anaerobic sealant (is that the $20 red stuff?)

Dash lights
Olnick replied to Arty's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXA very satisfying fix! Suggestions (from somewhat faded memory): Get the bulbs from Radio Shack--much cheaper than dealer. And disconnect the cable from the bottom--much easier than trying to un-attach from the top. Good luck & have fun.

Hi guys Oil Separator help part 2
Olnick replied to GordoMillones's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIt's Permatex Ultra Grey, not 3M. And it is not anaerobic but it is what most people seem to use on the separator plate. Good luck.

Doing the EJ25 to EJ22
Olnick replied to PAJ's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSounds like a good plan, just be aware that the '97 EJ22 is an interference engine. We used a kit from The Import Experts--belt, idlers and water pump--on my son's '92 Legacy. Everything appeared to be good quality and it saved significant coin. But some things "must be" OEM: water pump gasket, thermostat, cam & crank seals, oil pump o-ring, cam o-rings (left front & right rear.) It's worth the little bit more cost. Good luck PAJ, and do keep us up on your progress.

1996 Outback?
Olnick replied to jazzmandolin's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI think the owner is trying to put one over on you. The very first Outback (1995) was little more than a Legacy Wagon with two-tone paint. You're right about the engines.
