  1. What color would you guys say might be better? Safety Red, Yellow or Lime green
  2. OK the back story is: Im 18 and in my first year of college. This is what I bought with my leftover scholarship money No rust at all anywhere. Still needs a few mech parts but not much, and its only an automatic till next weekend  Got it with 79k on the odometer interior is good except for the upper door panels which are badly worn. The hood and roof are herculiner, the edges still need some touching up. Havnt decided on red or yellow for the bottom half.
  3. Id say if you dont want speed maybe look for an EA82 in better shape that way you can drop her in. If you know your engine is ok just needs work, then go for it. EJ swaps arnt hard from what ive seen but its not something for the faint of heart lol. I mean tools, parts, wiring, fitting etc.
  4. Forgot to say I also replaced power steering fluid, brake fluid, pads and shoes. When I hit the switch on the steering column the lights in the bumper light up. How about mounting them on the hood or roof any tips on that or roof racks? Would one of those High perf. coils from partstrain for $40 be a good idea? Would a new radiator be a good idea or should I stick to this one till it leaks or corrodes? WHAT THERMOSTAT DO I NEED? lol looked online and they have all sorts of degrees and I am a newb
  5. I dont have any roof racks. I forgot to mention I already did the belts and tensioners. Junkyards here havnt even heard of a Subaru GL lol Tranny will be installed by a pro and he is going to machine the flywheel and do a nice job for me with a new clutch kit. I have some Fresh oil in it, flushed radiator and filled with some good quality coolant. The radiator looks to be ok, no leaking or rust but the fins are very fragile, a single touch and they turn to dust so maybe a new dual core radiator for me? Would a fuel filter be in order? Radiator hoses and TB coolant hoses are also new. What should I check with respects to the dif.? Were can I pick up a nice PCV and thermostat?
  6. So I have my little 87' Gl Wagon with 81k miles on it, bought it about 2 months ago. Its getting a tranny swap next weekend to a 5 speed. Has already been seafoamed, new plugs, wires, dist. cap and rotor, Front CVs, exhaust repair and cherry bomb, fuel pump, air filter. Want to now what else I should get: Planning on window tinting, seat covers, floor mats. My question is regarding an air horn and lights. First of all any suggestions on a decent air horn for this? Brand etc.. I would also like to know if I can replace the parking lights with fog lights. I would also LOVE to have some roof mounted rally lights like ive seen on here but how are they attached to the vehicle? Any other suggestions on things to do would be great. Looking to end up with a nice looking, reliable and high mpg vehicle
  7. Im screwed with my brakes, the guy that was going to fixem keeps postponing on me this is my daily driver folks need to get to school Do I TRY to find a rebuild kit? or order new calipers? Pep boys wants around $100 including tax for them but only special order What can I do? its nearly impossible to find parts locally
  8. You can bang on your tank with a hammer and listen for a splash or use a broom handle Nah make sure you do have power, if you do try sanding and cleaning the terminals a little then replace wires.
  9. Yeah guys around here say its a common issue. Whatever it is hes gonna fix it.
  10. Tires do need to be balanced. They are not frozen as its 90 degrees lol. It happened while driving. I have that overheated brake rust color thing on the rotors. Is $60 for a rebuild on both sides ok including labor?
  11. While driving got some nasty brake smell. Pulled over and I couldnt see nothing. Got on the highway and got mad vibrations at 45-55mph so I pulled off checked my brake fluid and it was at a good level, filthy for being a week old though. Then the emergency brake has to be pulled really hard to engage or else it just bounces down . It still works just has to be pulled hard or it dont stay up. Im assuming the vibrations happen on the highway from the heat of friction at higher speeds warping the rotors? Are they stuck? What else could it be?
  12. You are supposed to install the drivers belt first with the whole(marK) pointing up and the first slot on the flywheel. Then you rotate it so the drivers side whole is pointing down and the passengers is pointing up then attach the passenger belt. If the engine is timed this way it should be ok. I heard rumors the Haynes was wrong. Anyways my hunch is: If you did do it this way and it runs, just runs crappy pull the conector of the front sensor on the throttle body. Have to find a pic of what Im talking about. If its corroded slightly scrape it with a small screwdriver and apply some conector/socket protector from Autozone($1 packets) then connect and disconnect the conector several times quickly so all the corrosion on the conector gets worn off. Be gentle but this should help allot. I though I had a timing problem after instaling both belt with a friend. It ran but acted like it was going to stall or off a tooth. Called a local guru he came over did this with some WD-40 in and out motion blew out the excess and it was like night and day
  13. If that still results in bad running let us know I might have a hunch.
  14. Ok went to see a 89 GL wagon Turbo. It has a Fair interior, all the electrics work. Very little rust on one fender. Engine has 125k miles and the heads and oil pan are leaky. It starts of but when you press the gas pedal it gurgles and acts like its gonna stall. Its FWD and has a Manual in it. He wants $300 for it, what do you guys think? You think $1,000 for mechanical repairs alone would be enough. I also think it needs an airflow sensor.
  15. Took a trip to Autozone turns out its this coating they have http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0004083520174a&navCount=0&podId=0004083&parentId=&masterpathid=&navAction=push&cmCat=&catalogCode=IJ&rid=&parentType=&indexId=&cmCat=netcon&cm_ven=netcon&cm_cat=Google&cm_pla=Duplicolor%20Bed%20coating&cm_ite=netcon&rid=0180101070502
  16. I have some 15" 6 lug rims, if I post up a pic can you guys tell me if Im better of drilling the rims or the hubs? http://images.craigslist.org/11114b1383n73o03p18bid9753b52390d188a.jpg
  17. Thanks guys. The roof and hood of the car is already herculined I love the stuff. I can only get Herculiner and the Autozone one (think its 3m) that comes in a 1gallon tin for like $50. The 3m in a can is around $7.99 and I think I need like 3 of them. You guys think lining the wheels would affect the balance? Would that 3m stuff stick to the plastic bumpers. BTW that paint you talked about with glass in it isnt available here in Puerto Rico. On a side note what vehicle do these wheels come from? http://www.sjrlift.com/images/stories/IMG_0645.JPG
  18. Sorry should have included that in the OP. 1987 GL Wagon FWD. Maybe a coat of Rustoleum High performance black would work ok in the wheel wells?
  19. Is taking off the top part of the door panels easy enough or do I need a guide or summin? Gonna re-upholster them myself. What should I use on the fender walls? Herculiner, rubberized undercoating in a can... etc? I need to paint the fender wells, bumpers and the stock steelies. The the fenders debating between: Rustoleum, Herculiner, or generic truck liner from autozone. For Bumpers: Herculiner would probably be best. For Steelies: High heat spray paint? Or herculiner also?
  20. it looks almost exactly like subi3366 does. I am so happy it doesnt sound like a cannon woohoo. Will intake help anyone?:-p
  21. Took it to the shop this morning. Had them patch up the wholes from the previous owners cat deletion. Installed the cherry about 1.5 feet from the rear of tha car and continued it with 2" pipe. Sounds freakin great! Cant tell at idle but when you lay into the throttle it comes alive. Would a cone filter on the MAF make it sound better also? I have done this on other cars I ask because its subaru lol not because im retarded
  22. As not to keep making new threads: Is anyone recently selling some 6 lug adapters? I have some nice 15x7 rims id like to use for autoxing
  23. Sweet thanks for the help guys. BTW would anyone be interested in seeing my baby? Has Herculined hood and roof
  24. Can you post a video or summin? Does it need a small tip like it is in those pics or can the end of the cherry bomb itself be the tip? How does it sound, does it crackle allot?
  25. I just picked up the 26" long cherry bomb after a video on youtube convinced me of it lol. Anyways how should I have it mounted (my cat is gone) should it be the last part of the exhaust or somewhere in between and then continue running the system to the rear of the car? I want a deep tone and I def want it to crackle when I let off the gas
