  1. Anyone just end up taking a sawzall or air cutting wheel the shields and be done with them!
  2. Tried, just got a response, said $96 plus have to ship old axle back for core. Wonder how long would take from Mt. West also.
  3. Ok I have been trying to contact the Colorado based Subaru axle rebuilder for months with no luck. Trying anouth route found a NEWcompltte axle at O'Rilley's Autoparts Storefor $69! LIFETIME WARRENTY, company is OE Direct out of MO. Anyone tried there products?
  4. There is a set of Volkswagen 5X100 bolt pttern 16" steel wheels for cheap localy. Want to put my winter tires on them for 'my '03 Legacy GT sedan. Will they fit, I know I need16" wheels to clear the GT's brakes.
  5. So I wanted to get a FEW rebuilt Subaru axle out of Colorado. I tried contacting RetroRoo in Denver Colorado that Marshal Wolf and FEW went though. They said they have not gotten anything from him in awhile? Anyone know if he is still doing axles and how to contact him? The inner pass. side boot on my '03 GT sedan has been wide open all winter!!
  6. I need a rattle can for spray touch-up howevere no dice at local autoparts stores? Anyone know if Duplicolor carries it in spray cans?
  7. Nope stock 205/55R16 Nokian WR with stock 16's to fit over the big brake of the GT.
  8. Ok, any one with a '03 GT wagon or sedan notice that there spedometer was consistantly around 5 mph slower reading than what the GPS says you are going?
  9. I just noticed while closing the moonroof on my '03 GT sedan with 100k on the clock that the front corners of the underside of the moonroof it self are rusting. Is this a common issue. anything I should watch for now??
  10. OK so went to another autoparts store and only Napa had the correct PCV for my '03 but wanted $13 it was a Eshich brand?? All others has the style that screws into the intake up untill 2005 Model year?? Why are the style that screw into the block so much more expensive than the ones that screw into the intake.
  11. There was so much crud in the nipple fitting and PCV. Also I got a Fram PCV and the nipple is to big for the hose. Is this a dealer only part?
  12. Ok weather warmed up. Got hose off, however the part screwed into the intake is just a stright though fiting. The PCV must be screwed into the block end.
  13. Well just pulled the cracked boot back and the greese is white and milky. So thinking moisture got in there, guessing that likly comprimised the joint. Also noticed the seals where the axle goes into the front diff are weeping. Guessing it would be easy to replace that while i have the axle out. Guess i shoudl return the stuff I bought to repack and re boot the axle thats in there.
  14. OK, when changing the coolant in my '03 GT sedan after 35,000 miles. I wanted to open the block plugs to get it ALL out. However even with a 1/2 breaker bar they will not budge any ideas? Also the coolant "green stuff" looked alright but therewas a grity sludge in the bottom of the rez tank! I was alarmed but remembered I did add the magical SOA additive last chnage. Could it be the result of that? My plan was just to flush with maybe six gallons of distilled then, refill with 50/50 distilled and Prestone Silicate and Phasphate free? Head gasket slightly weeping so though a flush might be pushing it.
  15. so in my '03Leg GT with EJ253 regular old Prestone "yellow now" that is Phosphate and silicate free will work. Or should I use the Zerex HOAT Asian vehicle stuff for my Toyota?
  16. Well here in Northern New England we always have few - degree days sprinkled in each winter.
  17. OK, my '03 Legacy GT has had a steady diet of 5W-30 conventional. However during the teens and - degrees days we are having in Northern New England was wondering is a lighter wait would allowfor faster cranking and better flow.
  18. "Just an old New Hampshire Yankee lost in the flatlands of Michigan" I feel ya I went to school at Purdue, in Indameana, and most autopart storesdid not even know what winter wiper blades were!! Back here in New Hampshire I usualy get a set of steelies off a base model shod them with the narrowest tallest snows that fit. Then use the nice alloys with all seasons reats of the year.
