So the dealer said I can replace with a factory remanufactured axle. for $213 is that the going rate for a remaned one? Any online sources?

This has always been an issue for Suabru had to reoplace the inner boot on my '99 Legacy L wagon with EJ22 casue the cat cooked it to death at 60k. Now my '03 Legacy GT seadn with EJ25 did the same thing at 90k.

We I was hoping I would not have to post on this again. Here is the situation my Mom is the orginal owner of a 2003 Legacy GT sedan from Cherry Hill, NJ Subaru was a exec. car. she had both head gaskets replaced at 70,000 by SOA under warrenty, however at 95,000 the dealer that is near where she lives now in Michigan said the head gaskets needs to be replaced again? This should be under the EJ252 warrenty correct!

Ok first timing belt replacment for a '03 Legacy GT sedan 95k on it now. Should I bother with the water pump replace at the same time on the EJ251? Also in my old EJ22 days we use to replace the oil pump during a T-belt chnage? Same issue with teh EJ25??

I am in Southern New Hampshire and would like to find a good independant Subaru repair shop. My '03 Legacy GT sedan has 95k on the clock and I will need to get the timing belt done at 105k P.S. found one called Farr Auto in Hempstead, NH he owns a '03 Outback with 280k on the clock, his wife drives a '07 Forester. Any mechanic that bought and sold Roos for two years is Ok in my book.

It's a sedan, I have two small utility trailer I do dump runs with. Have towed trailers with my '99 Honda Accord Ex 4 cyl. 5-speed for thousands of miles, so experince is not a issue.

What is the max trailer towing capability of a '03 Legacy GT sedan in automatic. Also is there a plug and play set-up for the trailer wiring?

So 5X100 bolt pattern wheels fit my '03 Legacy GT. Will a 15" wheel fit as well for snow tires, the 205/55R16 are too wide, and too low profile to really do well in deep snow. Thinking about some 195/65R15 stock steel wheels for the car, will 15" rims clear the calipers on a GT?

Transmmison is running great no binding shifting where it always has. However, she did say that this happened after a long crank, where the car would not start. Then she tried it again and it started??

My Mom's '03 GT sedan just did this. Cold out of the garage A/T temp flashed for a Three mile trip to the Mall. Restarted after got there light came on for test and went right out??? A fluke, or worse???

This is what I did with my Toyota Highlander with 16" wheeels. Use the 16" alloys for summer tires. and 16" steelies off a base model for dedicated snows. Works well for Northern New England set-up!

I am in New Hampshire and I had my grand fathers '99 Legacy L wagon with teh EJ22. Greta car but when the rust cancer starts there is no way to stop it. eventualy the safty of the car in a wreck is comprimised. I would find a EJ22 powered Subaru furthere down south for her.

A failing brake hose can do this with pressure build in a particular calpier it serves.

High temp paint, on the center hub area on outboard side, and inside inm hub area. Mask off the braking surface and to the lip and inside as well. Keeps them nice here in New England allot longer!!

Allot of boost yes, but handle it MUCH better than the earlier open deck N/A EJ25's

EJ22 is a bullet proof motor had one in a my '97 Legacy L wagon that I got from my grandfather in Woodstock, Vermont best Subaru I have owned. He could not see well drove it down a 15 foot imbankment. Tow truck brought it out too the branches out from under it and drove it for another 60k!!

Vermont plates make it go through the snow that well you know.

The reasons this will likely be our last Subaru are more to do with the head gasket issues and A/C system issues. I think this Subaru just had too many GM influenced parts. Alternator issues, says Delco on it, etc. Hopefully Toyotas share has helped FHI with quality. This '03 is not anywhere near what the '97 Legacy EJ22 powered "tank" we had before was, even with three times the amount of miles on it. The older legacy never gave us any issues.

Nipper, they could not have been that worn down I replaced the rotors and pads front AND rear 10,000 miles ago!
