You guys are freaking me out. This car is not abused driven at 55 max by my 65 year old mother. Oil changes done every 4,000 miles or 3 months by myself. 1. Are bad bearing common in EJ25's? 2. Are tensioners more common to fail? 3. Guess I could take a belts off for a few minutes and rev the engine. (But she is headed down to NY today!)

OK, my Mom came-up this long weekend with her '03 legacy GT sedan automatic with 68k on the clock. It is not heavy but under half throdle going up hills it seems to be slightly knocking. Took it for a drive three times with the windows down each time it did it. Seems to be fine at high rpm above 4,500?? I put 4 oz. of Marvel Mystery oil in the gas tank to see if it is carbon deposits. Changed the plugs to NGK platnium just 10,000 miles ago and replace the air filter this weekend? It also seems to have developed a belt squeal above 5,000 rpms?? Tried the alt. tensioner on the belt that runs the alt. and the p/s pump. Still there, maybe will try the A/C belt tensioner next?

Well did what you said took off the stock shims that were in OK shape. Some rust affecting them. Will only last this last pad change. Car stops pretty much like it did before. Fluid flush but it was in pretty good shape anyways. Pads were down to 1/4 material left. Thanks for all the help, rear pads were prtty stuck and no track of lube from when the stealship did the job. Hopefully this wll keep the rears from wearing out so fast!

OK, well will semi-metalics do it. Ceramics I see are $40 for a set! I always use silicone greese or anti-seize on teh rub spots when I replace the pads. I thought Raysbestos were a good brand are you talking high performance like EBC Green Stuff etc?? My Mom does not ride the brakes just a lot of around town and very hilly here in the Northeast.

OK, my Mom just got her '03 Subaru GT sedan inspected in NY and shop stated front and rear pads could use replaing. Still stoping good and no fade or warped rotors. It has 62,000 miles on it and is on it's second set of front and rear pads. Is teher any pads I should avoid for the car. My Mom is 65 and drives the speed limit only if weather is good. Most of the time she is traviling 2 MPH under posted speed limit. I was just going to get a set of Raysbestos organic pads rough up the rotors with sand paper. Bleed teh system and call it a day.

Well about a month ago I replace the plugs with platnium NGK's and replace dthe ATF and spin on filter in my Mom's '03 GT sedan. All was well when I test drove it and she took it for a 2.5 hour drive back to Brewster, NY. Well after having it home for two weeks she said it had starting hesitation merging into traffic and geting on the highway? Now a week latter she says it will barly pull out of te drive way. She presses the accelerator but the engine does not rev? Said it rolled backwards a bit at the crest of our driveway. Now I have to wreck a weekend driving 2.5 hours down to see what is wrong with it? Any ideas anyone?? I brough a fuel filter and gas treatment with me if it is bad gas. I will check the ATF fluid level, and the plugs again?? Air filter was in great shape when I looked at it?
