  1. First time I have seen Seafoam was about ten years ago in the Mid-west. Used for off-seasoning outboard boat motors. Along with MMO I use both and have had results.
  2. Stealership useless as usual! Told the service dept about the '03 GT and the slight P/S whine it has. They said No TSB and wanted to LOOK at it at $120 a hour!! (NO THANKS!!) Is the Lucas P/S fluid stuff ATF compatable?? Is this the stuff for regular P/S fluid? http://www.lucasoil.com/products/display_products.sd?iid=28&catid=2&loc=show Or should we use this stuff for our Dextron III ATF based systems?? http://www.lucasoil.com/products/display_products.sd?iid=29&catid=2&loc=show
  3. I replaced with Dextron III ATF and still whines. Any other fluids That are compatable I can try??
  4. Where "IN" Russia and how are the roads in the area?? Can you get Subaru parts in that part of RUSSIA??
  5. Most here say the OEM unit is much better and in ALL of My roos I have just stuck with it.
  6. Anyone elses Subaru P/S pump whine. My Mom's '03 GT 4EAT ALWAYS whines. I have tires replacing the ATF in the P/S system with no luck. Any way to quite it down??
  7. I give the finger to anyone I see in a Hummer or 4 X 4 truck if it does not have mud on it. I always will, in France they slash the tires of SUV's in any urban area.
  8. K&N's CAN damage your Mass Air flow sensor if you are a idiot and put to much oil on the filter. I have run then in most of my vehicles including a '93 Toyota Corolla with 325k. Good compresion across all cyl. and a VERY clean TB. They can't be that bad if properly maintained!
  9. That Roo is to young to die!! I have keep many Subaru's in NEW ENGLAND rust FREE with three things! Wash under body AND WHEEL WELLS during the winter EVERY TIME IT GETS ABOVE 32 DEGREES!!! Touch-up and nicks and scratches as soon as they apear! GET SOME RUSTCHECK AND COAT & PROTECT FROM OUR CANADIAN FREINDS AND coat the under body GOOD!!! Pull the body plugs and get inside the subframe memebers and voids!!
  10. I switched my '98 Legacy L wagon to the Dex-Cool stuff Orange and had one of the ONLY leaking heatercores early in these cars. Dex-a-Cool SUCKSSSSS!! Switch to green or new yellow stuff that goes in ANY make or model.
  11. Forester are great cute utes they are based off the Impreza platform and handle VERY WELL for a small SUV! They have the 2.5 engine and the same trannies as the Legacy and Impreza. You will want to find as new as you can to avoid the phase I EJ25. I have seen less issues with torque bind in there 4EAT's and Less clutch issues in there 5-speeds. BUt, that could be just who posts here. Someone here should be able to tell you the last year for the Forester with the phase I EJ25.
  12. I noticed when I drove my Mom's '03 GT sedan that she had engaged the mirror heaters AWHILE ago and had not noticed. What is the easiest way to disable even if just for the summer?:-\
  13. Ya, my '98 L wagon with EJ22 did the same after a Seafoam treatment. Autozone checked it as misfire and cleared never came back.
  14. Last year for the 2.2 in a Legacy was '98. I had a '98 Legacy L wagon with 4EAT it HAD tourque bind. but that engine was flawless at 150k. EJ22s stayed in Impreza's longer. Some 5-speeds had clutch chatter issues.
  15. Just looked at the Suzuki Aerio SX wagon in AWD and it is $16,700. Where have all the cheap NEW AWD's gone?
  16. Just tell them you don't want a BAND_AID fix you want it fixed right!! What ever they have to do.
  17. Well come to think about it I have smelled a weird smell whne it idles for awhile?? I will look at the drivers side cyl. bank above the CV. Hope I DON"T see anything!!:-\
  18. I use to work for Enterprise Rent-A-Car so I know. DO NOT BUY A USED RENTAL VEHICLE. Body work is done AS CHEAP and QUICKLY as posible. They run 7,300 mile oil change intervals. In Montana most likly that ATF leak is from OFF-ROADING and hiting hard objects! !! With the Montana climate you could find a older Roo with no signs of rust that would serve you for MANY years!!
  19. They are nice cars for AWD at a fair price. That is why my family has had them since the 70's. However, we always skied, and lived on non-plowed road in New York and had family in the moutains of Vermont. But there are A LOT of nice cars on the market now. And if you don't need the added tractionh of AWD you most likey don't want it's gas mialage reduction in a daily driver. Just my 2 cents, from MANY Roos.
  20. I will pull the belly pan off the '03 GT and check it out. Do you know if that would be covered by the power train warrenty if there IS a external headgasket leak??
  21. My Mom's '03 GT sedan is starting to do a intermitant bump at highway speed when gas is applied very softly. Seems to happen if you are coasting at say 65 mph and then very softly aplly more pressure to the gas petal with teh car in Drive. The tranny will kind of hick-up as it comes under load?? Only does it once in awhile:confused: Any one else experince this in a GT with the 4EAT with the autostick option?? :-\
