  1. OK, this is my Mom's '03 GT sedan with 4EAT, 40k on the clock. I flushed and refilled the coolant at 30k with a 50/50 mix of yellow stuff and distilled water. I only get to check under the hood ever month or so, BUT. Over the winter seemed fine. Now that spring is around last month the overflow tank was low so I filledit to hot with distilled and same coolant 50/50 mix. Then this month I checked it again and same thing down to the bottom of the tank and refilled with 50/50. Seems to stabilized for the two days I drove it. No external leaks no white smoke, no water in oil, no oil in coolant?? What is the deal here guys?:-\ Is the warm weather finaly geting the cooling system to start pulling for the rez. to presurize the system??
  2. So you are in Nor-Cal. Do you drive in bad conditions often?? (AWD) Do you go into the moutains often? (Turbo) If you answer yes to either or both the GT would be a good choice. If you don't see bad driving conditions and moutain climbs often, then other cars might be better suited for your needs.
  3. Most of the systems I have had fail are not from baffles blowing out, but rustng and cracking at welds.
  4. I was talking to a guy at one of the trusty online part houses. He stated to me that spraying my exhuast system down with high temp Silicone would keep it from rusting out from the exterior so fast? True or False, I have never heard of this, trick??:-\ Coulc help us with the stock mild steel exhuast that Subaru still fails to upgrade to SS.
  5. My Mom's '03 GT sedan has it in the rear I don't think it helps that much!!:-\ Our L wagon without was just about the same.
  6. Just called my local NAPA he lists it also says it's part # 18128 but he wants $25 for it!! That is only $10 short of the stealership price?? I will have to call the NAPA two towns over, see what they want for it.
  7. WOW, sounds like the find I have been looking for!! I would like to replace the spin on tranny filter on my Mom's '03 GT soon. If it is quality and fits it is about a 1/3 of the stealership price for this NON-maintinace iteam!! Do you have a NAPA part # by chance??
  8. Seafoam REALLY thins out the oil. You would not want to casue any metal to metal contact while it was in there and the enegine was under real heavy load!
  9. If you can't use the AWD I would sugest a rear wheel drive car. More fun than any others if you don't need foul weather go.
  10. Ah, no rust in the Southwest, must be nice to have a leg-up on Subaru cancer!!
  11. Also Subaru produced turbos back in the early 90's that I would consider a MODERN turbo, but would be a NEW gen. Roo??
  12. For warm up you can also just drive like a grany till you hit operating temps. That is what i do with my '95 SAAB 9000 Aero and that has a oil and water cooled Mitsu. TD-04 turning out 16 psi STOCK!!
  13. Read it front to back one of the BEST auto articles I have ever read!! Thanks ferret!
  14. SWEET what will they pump if you intercool and what kind of boost can they take in stock form??
  15. Could have been "GM'ed"! My SAAB parts are geting that way as well. Lets hope for some "Toyotaing" of our parts.
  16. What kind of turbo did the EJ22T have and what years were the Legacy Turbos available in the US? I LOVE my 300 hp / 325 flbs., 2.3 L Turbo, intercooled, inline, four SAAB 9000 Aero 5-speed! Mitsu. TD-04 baby, and 3" cat and exhaust!
  17. You can check with the guys at www.vanagon.com but I think Canada got desiels and some on the left coast had some desiels.
  18. The '01 OBW of my Aunts has 105k on it. And had the brakes services 6 months ago.
  19. OK my previous '98 Legcay L wagon had some what spongy brakes but my aunts '01 is BAD! If you push the petal as hard as you can at 45 mph it just gets spongy will not lok the wheels or engage ABS?? If you Press the petal hard and fast at 25 mph you can get the ABS to kick in but VERY little locking even on sandy roads!!! Is this a brake problem or how the '01 Roo's are?? My Mom's '03 GT sedan can lock nicely and modulate ABS with 1/3 petal travel!
  20. OK, so it is a 4EAT being lazy. Now I know why I got rid of the '98 Legacy L wagon my Grandpa gave me. That 4EAT did do weird things even after puting full Syn. in it!
