  1. I saw the same model, same color, also an '86 branded on the back and sides as a Subaru "RS" in Maryland about 4 years ago...but congrats on your purchase.
  2. Had same issue on my 98 Legacy 5-speed station wagon...changed plugs with high quality ones, changed wires too...funny thing was that I changed ignition coil(coilpack?) first since I had a brand new spare one laying around and car drove just fine to Autozone (no sputtering or anything), but just to be safe, changed the other stuff too.
  3. Sorry to hear about your loss...I have learnt that only way to deal with death is to accept it.If your buddy had kids/a family(and they need any kind of help),do not hesitate to let me know...and am sure there are many other board members even more willing to assist.
  4. Nice BRAT...makes me wanna just start looking for one.
  5. Following this thread with keen interest...while learning a lot at the same time.
  6. Believe me,the other board members who have posted in this thread before me know their stuff! I used to think the same as you about those EA82Ts(though your post also mentions EA82?),even posted something a couple of years back(see below)...until I experienced real problems, followed by total consecutive failures in my RX Coupe. My cousin(board member name Soobydoo had similar issues...he is now chasing an EJ22T swap!)...so after a while I decided to pursue an EJ22 swap...cant seem to find time due to hectic business and travelling schedule, may just find someone here on the board to do it and just pay them(if they dont feel insulted by getting paid to do it:grin:). Anyways, when well maintained...EA82T will give you decent performance but when the problems start, they truly start! BTW,I personally know Mike Kirkland of the Safari Rally Subaru fame(very decent man...worked for him briefly years ago when starting out in the safari business, and I also know several other guys who worked as Subaru Service Crew(equivalent of the PitCrew in Daytona/Indycar stuff). From what I have been told, those engines that they ran back then are not basic stock like what me and you may have had in our EA82Ts...they have different mods and also use different fuel altogether to withstand that kind of beating and abuse.See part of my post below from 2 years ago: "....Definitely true that the 1.8 liter turbo engines are problematic/less reliable than their successors. But lets not forget that they were fully tested to the maxx when Subaru entered the Kenya Safari Rally,to counter the Audi Quattro and the Toyota Celica. For those not familiar with this rally,it has been the proving/testing ground for mainly Japanese and European auto makers for many decades(since the '50's)....at one time called the East African Safari Rally. If I remember correctly,Dodge entered the RamCharger in either '81 or '82...."
  7. Welcome aboard...you will find some truly and amazingly knowledgable people. I am pretty sure(will attach my disclaimer here)that the main SUBARU guys at headquarters often check here for ideas:grin:.
  8. Just came across this while browsing the web, link below: http://www.rs25.com/forums/f8/t99075-4eat-diff-lock-switch-handbrake-mod-torquemada-lite.html
  9. Still up in the air...due to many reasons...distance,global stuff...etc...so far only you, soobydoo and one more person have expressed interest...hope to see you there!
  10. I recently read somewhere that there is a junkyard full of older Subarus from the 80's...somewhere near Frederick,Maryland. Can anyone provide some info?I cannot seem to find that thread,or perhaps it may have been on a different website.Thanks.
  11. Was just reading on this swap from a few years ago...how did it go?Will be back in ''the place of cold waters"...yes Nairobi very soon, and am thinking of snatching up a dual range Leone and going the EJ way.Hopefully you are still around...lets talk...cheers! Sent you a PM too!
  12. Mine did the same thing a few months back...had just done a tune up...new wires, plugs but for some odd reason forgot to change the ignition coilpack...started chugging and actually bucking...changed it and took care of the problem...in the process noticed that one of the spark plugs wires had come loose..hope this helps.
  13. @ WRXZZZ...am currently working on 2 RX's...recently got a crucial engine part from TURBONE here...now,about the cars...one is a 1988 4-door...the other an '87 coupe...might be unloading either one or both pretty soon...PM me for details and will keep you posted if you are still searching.Travelling abroad for the next 10 days or so...good luck...hope you find one.If not, dont hesitate.

May sound like a no brainer...here's the story....recently acquired two 1996 2.2 engines. Both are from Automamtic transmission vehicles. One of the engines,I am doing a swap into one of my RX's...I know there's a whole lot of info on that. ***My concern here is for the other engine...with which I would like to replace the high mileage engine in my '98 5-speed AWD Legacy wagon. Someone suggested that I would need a flex plate of some sort inorder to hook up onto the manual tranny...kindly advise on what other parts are needed,or is it just a straightforward plug and play deal? Thanks.
  16. Is it possible to put a 89-90 turbo loyale engine into an '87 RX coupe? Both are 5-speeds.What are the compatibility issues if any? Thanks.

  18. Almost similar to the post about Brats below. Was thinking of changing manual windows to power windows on a 5-speed AWD 98 Legacy Wagon, mine has manual windows.I see a lot of vehicles at the local junkyards that are of same year and color but power windows. Is it easier just to get the whole doors, and does it apply to back doors too? What else do I need? Thanks.
  19. PM sent to Myxalplyx regarding RX Turbo...two on Boise Craigslist and another one by a private seller.
  20. 1987 Subaru RX Coupe....looking for the bracket which places between the Alternator and the Power Steering Pump...to hold up the AC.Thanks.
  21. Positive...when I turn that switch off and leave the fuse in,the lights still stay on...maybe I have an electric malfunction somewhere.
  22. My side and rear lights stay on even after turning everything else off. I have to remove the 20A fuse inorder for them not to drain my battery.Any help/advice highly appreciated.
