  1. wait wait.. What bosh plugs are you using?? i hope its not the platinum plugs.
  2. I must be the only one who thinks still $1,000 is still too much? I'm trying to figure out the pricing for these cars.. here the sweet spot seems to be around $2700 with around 165K
  3. Reminds me when i went from a 1.8L impreza FWD to my 2.2 Legacy I was like wow finally more power! Now I'm thinking about going to a 2.5L
  4. was the 2000 model the only year with the 16.9 gal fuel tank? i don't understand what this guy is saying the steering column is leaking.. I think he means steering rack? also I've wanted to know on the 2000 models what is that cutout on the dash next to the HVAC controls?
  5. I have a question.. maybe I need to look at a video again but if you don't care about saving much from the block can't you just pull the block apart with the pistons still in?
  6. I think Im going to check out this 1999 Outback wagon only issue is the seller says it stalls out at stop lights and may need exhaust work.. I'm guessing timing is set wrong or the MAF is bad or a very bad vac leak.. he's selling for I think $1,895 obo maybe I can take it down to $1300
  7. its nothing wrong with the car towed with a dolly as long as the rear is not on the ground and the front in the air and no wheels turning it as if it was on a flatbed. unless you mean one that is a hitch mount.. but still same rules apply the rear still needs a dolly of it's a hitch mount dolly
  8. hmm from that link they say the cams block the headbolts I can't say for sure since i've never seen the cams up close on a DOHC motor.
  9. with the Ej25 it's impossible to change the gaskets with the motor still in the car right?
  10. I had a dumb rump roast tow truck try to tow my car after I told him many of times the car wheels will lock up.. So dumb rump roast proceeded anyways to tow (about 2 miles to my house) and we hardly got 50Ft before he heard the rear tires skidding on the road (front end raised) SO I had to wait another 1 hr and a half for him to get the flatbed because he was the only one in town.. My thing is why not just get a flatbed out no matter if its FWD or AWD or RWD? it makes it failsafe.. And yes as soon as I replaced the fuel pump I did check the center diff and it was ok. having said that Ive never seen anyone use a dolly before..
  11. I have a question bubbling in the overflow tank happens when the car is both cold and warm right?
  12. maybe because mine lasted 48 hours before it crapped out on me.. and it was not like I had any heavy loads on it.. I took it and got an interstate and that was the end of it.. it was the walmart maxxstart battery it's a maint free battery
  13. if the car starts with a jump it's not the wire or the starter or anything else.. you just have to face it you got a bum battery :-\ When you did jump it did you test the alternator output? It should be putting out anything above 12V rev the car to 1500 rpms and test the voltage output.
  14. I dunno I'm looking at this one car only thing is in the pictures it's an 2000 outback but someone painted the car one color in the picture the paint looks a bit rough looking.. having said that it says it needs headgaskets so I'm not sure had bad it is..
  15. wow man you tore it down good! I would of LOVED to pull my engine so I wont have to spend rip off prices for a used ej22.. I have plans for a build but just incase something blows up I don't want that to be my only motor.
  16. I only ask because I should of listened to everyone not to get a battery from walmart.. started fine but the next day no start and click click.. traded a brand new battery for an interstate.. well more like I had to spend out another almost $80....
  17. not a walmart battery I hope
  18. just that the oil level would be off? unless the pan is going to rust out I don't think I need a new pan just laying around.
  19. I can't remember for sure but does the Ej25 hold more oil in the pan over the EJ22?
  20. sorry long night and a little sleepy but your problem is just the level in the overflow tank? My past legacy had that same issue.. it would always suck from the overflow tank but not any missing under the cap which btw was a brand new cap I replaced.. car never overheated I never could figure it out.. and letting the overflow run dry had no ill effects as well.
  21. I wished I could of pulled mine just so I wont have to buy another and not really know the history. Good luck next month I start looking again myself sad but at the same time I can't wait to get back into another subaru.
  22. thats a nice site I've always wondered how the oil was pumped.. but I have a question.. if the oil all drains back to the pan how can the motor crank so slow with thick oil? Does the oil move that quick up the pickup tube?
  23. why is that?
