  1. yeah I might be able to swing something. The Brat is ALMOST going again, but I don't think its a fuel issue any more.
  2. Jibs posted a topic in Off Road
Anyone else (besides SubaruBrat) running a fuel cell? I was just wondering as to how to run lines and the such. Anyone have pics of installed cell? Also, how about Pro's/Cons on running a cell?
  3. It depends on what you want to do. If you want a lifted rig, you'd probably be better off getting an 82+ newer bodystyle Brat as it IS easier to lift. That's not to say it's impossible to lift an 81, but it's a bit more complicated. You MAY be able to find a cheap gen 2 brat, then you'd be able to keep both. (If room permits) Working on these cars isn't too bad, fabricating is a little tougher.
  4. We were gonna try this year. I've already talked to a few people about it. We'll start a thread a little later, but yeah out by Loyalton California is nice for trees, fun wheelin in the snow too. Who else would be up for it? Like said in the other post, no tree is NEEDED to come out and have fun.
  5. Ozified on the board. Or ozified.com;)
  6. I believe it does. If not, shocks from a 74 chevelle are what work. Just need to drill out the top holes a bit to get them to fit. You may want to get the best shocks available, from what I've heard from people running the chevelle shocks, it makes the rear end real soft, which bottoms out a bit.
  7. The whole thing? I have an 81 Brat thats been sitting for a few years now, it'll have the harness, can't guarantee its condition, but if you want it, I MAY be talked into pulling it for you.:-\
  8. An ea82T has been transplanted into a 79 by Garner I believe, try a search for his posts. Other than that an ea81T would bolt right in. It depends on how much work you want to do.
  9. And you had to pull the engine to fix it? What kind of line did you use? Aluminum hardline?
  10. Check here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=24980
  11. Check the Ball Joints, swap the axles of bad, and any other maintanence you can think of.
  12. So I'm thinking of: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=RCI%2D1160S&N=700+0&autoview=sku + http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=EDL%2D1791&N=700+0&autoview=sku + http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM%2DPUMPKIT3&N=700+0&autoview=sku and http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=HLY%2D12%2D803&N=700+0&autoview=sku What do you guys think? See any problems or anything? I've never looked into anything like this before, and am unaware of any unforseen obstacles.
  13. Its hard working under a car in a bark driveway with wcss8 dirt falling in your eyes while holding a tape measure, pen, and paper.
  14. That works, thanks a lot GD!
  15. Anyone have the dimensions of a Brat's gas tank? LxWxH would be sweet. Anyone know what an empty tank weighs by chance? Thanks.
  16. Did ya get footage of me goin through? I haven't looked at the everyone thread yet maybe there?
  17. I think it is to a point. You always see people running those paddle tires in the sand, its more about width though. You want as much surface area as possible so you don't get bogged down.
  18. Jibs replied to spider's topic in Off Road
ozified.com and sjrlift.com are two I can think of.
  19. So would it be safe to run a 3/8" line form the tank to the carb? Instead of through the hard lines? And would it be possible to run a bigger fuel pump with a seperate fuel pressure regulator in between?
  20. How much fuel pressure can the weber handle? Anyone try getting a little more fuel to their weber?
  21. We could have the show at the moonrocks out here in Reno! Lots of rocks for offroaders and dirt trails for the rallycross guys.
  22. The way you and your pops seem to drive, you'd be hard pressed to make it to a show in Seattle..... Just playin dude, We'd get you there if we had to tow you with our subes.
  23. So the lifted Brat broke down again todaY. ANOTHER fuel issue. So I am DONE with the stock setup. I tried a search, but couldn't find a lot of info on upgrading the ea81 fuel pump and fuel related mods. What I want to do is relocate the fuel pump into the engine compartment for easier access, as well as upgrading it to handle being further away from the tank. Is anyone running a bigger better flowing pump? I am also thinking of doing away with the hardlines that run before the pump and through the cab, if I run a 3/8" rubber line from the tank to the pump, would it work? I'm sure I'd have to adjust the carb a bit, but would that be too much gas/pressure etc..? Also, the 2wd hatch gas tank DOES work in lifted rigs right? I have a 4/3" lift kit. I'm tired of having fuel related issues in the Brat an want them fixed. Thanks for the help and sorry for the long post.
  24. Thats good to hear guys. I'm glad you made it back. Stayed away from Beatty did ya? We'll definitely hook up next year.
