  1. Hey Brian, we need to make time to stop by Punch Bowl Falls in Hood River on thursday or friday, there's some GREAT swimming there.
  2. Here's a pic: This is a weber, but I *think* they should be close, some older hitachi's I've seen have the fuel lines on the passenger side, it seems to be pre-1982 though. Right above my finger there. Another shot: Right above my finger again. On SOME hitachi's I've seen, the fuel line will come around the front (bottom of pic) and wrap around to the passenger side. You can see where the fuel line kinda goes too. Hope this helps.
  3. What kind of carb is it? If its other than a weber the should be 1 main barb, and a second real close to it. if its a weber, then it only has 1 and ther is no return.
  4. Is the carb on or off the car? If its on, just find the fuel filter on the driver's side rear corner under the hood and follow it to the carb. If the carb is off, just look for a barb on one of the sides, kinda hard to explain.
  5. I got a replacement fuel line today to just bypass the whole thing. I'll follow how it is for now and maybe flush the line as well, I just don't like the idea of it dying on me in traffic in the meantime. We'll see how it goes.
  6. I need to replace the fuel rails in the lifted Brat and was wondering how much of a chore it is. I spent 4 hours yesterday on the side of the road trying to fix a fuel issue I had. The Brat would run fine, but would seem to run out of fuel in certain places. Fuel is getting to the pump fine. the pump works. there is no fuel getting to the filter before the carb. I took the line off the filter and tried again to see if the filter was clogged. Nothing. So somewhere between the pump and the carb is a clog. Which is way weird cause I had all the lines blown out with compressed air yesterday and it still had a problem. I may end up grabbing a length of braided steel hose and just bypassing the whole hard line. Any thoughts?
  7. I've heard that there's a rubber distributor boot from a toyota 22re (I think) that fits perfectly over the soob boot with only needing to cut a hole for the vent. Thesubarujunkie; who told me this has a small piece of hose attached to the vent as well, with a fuel filter on the end of it, with some of the top cut out. It seems to work well.
  8. So move it. I would have but I'm no moderator. Us your super powers and get it done.

    Dual Batteries?

I'm thinkin of running another battery to run my winch, lights, and other stuff, but am unsure as how I would wire it. I know a couple of you have done it, so any help is appreciated.
  13. So how much longer does the ea81 driveline need to be? I'm tired of waiting for a guy to weld in the plate for the 2 piece driveline.
  14. Do I use the 4speed speedo-cable, or 5 speed cable? I was having trouble fitting the 4speed into the 5speed, but didn't spend a LOT of time on it, so was wondering. Thanks.
  15. replaced the one under the hood, along with the air filter, have one ready to go in before the pump.
  16. I got my 83 brat runnin again, had a bad axle, but it now makes a really bad knocking noise on the driver's side when accelerating. Also it seems that the carb or soemthing may have gotten water in it, it seems like it doesn't get fuel and does this whooop whoop thing. The same thing happened to my other Brat and I sprayed carb cleaner in it and it fixed that one, tried it with this one, and it still does the same thing. I let this one sit for a while before I drove it though so maybe that has something to do with it? Any ideas? Could the engine have hydro-locked? Problems started after driving through lots of water.
  17. Bump. It doesn't look like this write-up made it to the USRM, and I wanted to give it a try.
  18. So where's your Roo trying it out?

    soob buggies

It just depends on what you get and where you get it. Also, check into things first and get a real good idea of what you want. I made mistakes building the brat with just buying stuff, then having to get other stuff done like a dominoe.
  21. Ok I have a couple of questions. 1) How do we fit the clutch cable in with the 5 speed swap? Its too short using the ea82 Clutch cable bracket. Should I use the ea81 Bracket, or get an ea82 cable? 2) How do you mount the shifter plate underneath the boot to the body? There's a threaded part that bolts to the ea82, but not too much on the ea81. How have you done it? Thanks.
  22. What year Brat? Garner did it to his 79. An 82+ should be easier as well.
  23. What have other's done with Jerry's 5 speed kit as per the clutch? I know I need an ea82 clutch disc, but are there any other ea82 clutch stuff I need to get the Brat rollin? Any tricks or anything? Jerry told me to use 2 lock washers on the bolts for the starter cause the ea82 starter needs to stick out 90 thousandths more, but anything else? OH - I use the ea81 4wd shifter right? BTW - Jerry's kit is AWESOME!
