Highly modifed 1982 Hatch up for grabs!
Jibs replied to Sweet82's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
WTF??? Why would you do that and leave it sitting there? How much? -
So you guys still wanna try it?

So I changed the oil in the transmission today and YUCK!! The stuff that came out was just nasty. It was a icky grey color and there was some gunk built up on the drain plug. Is there a way to clean the inside of the tranny better than just changing the oil? Additives? Thanks.

I think its supposed to rain sunday.
-
Wow. I haven't seen those either, I don't remember seeing them on the wheels page either. Cool.
-
Um yeah thats the one. "Scary"?? I like it there with the park and everything. But yeah we could do dinner or something.

Here's a pic of an 8" lifted hatch, now owned by Turbone: It's got 8" blocks all around, thats about as much as I know. I say go for it, it'll look awesome. Do you have a t-case set up yet? I'd look into doing that while you've got everything else out. Have fun and keep us updated.

Thanks Guys!

Who has 15" wheels, pros/cons?
Jibs replied to ausubaru92's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Here's a pic of my 82 Brat with 195-60-15's (I believe its that size, may be real close) mounted on 15x7 6 lug rims. I DO have a 4" lift, so I can't tell ya how they fit without. Looked way goofy though. -
How would I go about flushing the radiator myself? I've been informed of some totally ghetto ways to do it, but I'd rather ask the "experts" first. Thanks. I also need to replace the gear oil and I was wondering what size socket I need, it seems like its a 22mm?? Thanks.

SWEET! Good deal, I'm glad its all right.

Gen 1 Brats are hard to lift as the rear suspension is different from a Gen 2 brat. What you can do with some fab work is put Gen 2 suspension on a gen 1 for an instant lift. It is harder than it seems, you have to make a custom suspension mount, then figure how to mount the rest of the gen 2 parts on there. It's been done.

Nice, you just need to go back and drive through it in reverse! get that other side dirty!

Nice pics. But why take a yota on a subaru run? Thats like bringing a gun to a knife fight.

Hey, can we move the day to APRIL 2ND? THAT SUNDAY? I may end up having my work schedule changed and I'll have sunday and mondays off. It could change, but I doubt it. Is this cool?

bump for more discussion/ideas.

Thanks for the help guys.

Has anyone ever thought of having a custom oil pan made so it sits higher up in the body? How would you figure how much oil the car would hold? (I'm no good at math.... at all.) I'd also think you'd have to move the oil sending unit as well, is this possible? I have also heard about people using lift blocks to get the engine back up to the original position in the car? Is it easy to do and does it affect anything? Was also looking into a custom radiator or a smaller one? Anybody try it? Thanks.

Yeah. Wagons didn't come in 2wd. (correct me if I'm wrong.) But the 4wd tanks have a "bump" in them to clear the rear diff. If you had a lift kit, then the 2wd tank would clear it.

Everyone still makin it? I'll be bringing the stock silver Brat it looks like. Lets say we meet at the bordertown exxon gas station? 10 AM?
-
can you sleep in the back of brat?
Jibs replied to Jack in Norfolk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I slept in the back of the brat at wcss7. At an angle without the seats of course. I'm 5-6" and I fit fine without the tailgate being there. -
free 82 GL come and get it!
Jibs replied to SakoTGrimes's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
DANG! Do you think it'll make the trip to Reno? I've been looking for a sedan for a bit now! -
You may wanna just take a look around at them. Ozified.com, alliedarmament.com and sjrlift.com all sell lift kits for subies. It depends on the size and body style of your car as well. Check the offroad sticky at the top of the page for more info.

I've seen a few on late 80's Full Time 4WD Turbo wagons and sedans.

Would the dual e-brake wear out the brakes faster though? Good ideas. Getting the exhaust done is another priority, after lifting the Brat, it hangs down painfully low.
