Nevada/Cali Guys ---> Moonrocks Round 2
Jibs replied to Jibs's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Yeah I was just lookin through those pics Bigblue - AWESOME! Thanks. Hopefully I'll have the brat goin before then, and we can wheel a bit out there. -
Definitely, in a garage no less.!
-
Bump. If everything goes well, does anyone wanna help me install my transmission next weekend of the 17-18th? I should have my parts by then.
-
So how are things coming? Just wonderin.
-
It definitely has room behind the throttle linkage, where the cable screws into the linkage is where the room is nulled. Could I cut some of the plastic housing away from the cable to back the tightener up towards te firewall any? I may have to take a picture trying to explain this one.

You just gotta go one up, get a couple of mangoes and a watermelon or somethin. or maybe a fruitbar under the hood. -
I have a question again. I have installed my weber and went to get the throttle cable on, but it seems to be like an inch too short. I may have to buy a new one, is it gonna fit? Is there a cable I can get thats a little longer than the stock one? Thanks.

Hey Brad, I see your pineapple in that pic! I voted your rx over Brians because of it! -
Yeah I like my TSL's. What are they runnin a piece now, like 81, 82$? I got mine for like 78 last year. I haven't had any problems with them yet. They stuck real good to the rocks when we went out, I have yet to get them into deep mud, but we'll see at wcss8!! I'll get a pic of them on an ea81 soon here. EDIT: I have been running 25 psi on street and like 9-11 on dirt and rocks and stuff.

I wasn't thinkin of anything hardcore or difficult, more of a sightseeing/ get together sort of run. Name it the Ultimate Subaru Trailride or something. And I remember that Napa too, cause my front axle was torn on the way up to Hood river and I wanted to make sure I could get home after the mudpit. -

Are there any good trails close to Hood River? I think it'd be WAY cool to get a mass trail ride for us offroad guys. -
Lookin good! Get us some action shots now!!

Hey I was gonna head out to the moonrocks on February 25th. It could be an all day thing, there's gonna be a competition out there. I'm gonna try to have the brat ready by then, so we'll see, but lets get out there and watch nonetheless. What do ya guys think? EDIT: Here's the link to pics of the area: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=47241&highlight=moonrocks

When you spin one rear wheel in the air the other one stays put? It shouldn't, it should either move in the same direction (LSD) or in opposite direction (Open). Otherwise, look on the rear diff for the sticker. It should say if its an LSD or not. It depends on what you are doing with the car as well, as far as upgrades go. If you use it for offroading, then weld it up, if not swap in the LSD. I believe the xt6's were 3.9 right? If so you'll have to swap in the LSD parts from an lsd diff into the open diff case thats in your xt6. Its not hard to do the swap, look into the USRM for the info on that.

Yeah buddy, new bling for the locals.

I'd loke a sticker as well, but its doubtfull that I'd stop by for one as well. Does Ozified have the old stickers as well like the ones Qman has on his Brat? I liked those too. -
ONLY IN A SUBARU:) Or a toyota from what I've been told of in another thread. Thats crazy dude, yeah it helps to check the area for new obstacles. A few trails around here have changed as well. Whats the detailed version?

I have a few questions. The whole carbon cannister just comes out and gets thrown away? And if I put the barb from the hitachi on the weber, will I have to cap the barb to keep fuel from spurting out? Right? And does the weber manifold cover the small antifreeze hole in the manifold? It looks to me like there is a sliver that doesn't get covered. Thanks.

Now THAT'S what we need the mugs to look like this year!!! -
The third eye is a passing lamp. Your brat shouldn't have one unless someone was very creative before you bought it. I believe They were offered only in 81 and 82 model years. The third eye only operates with the high beams on. Look at carfreak85's post you can see it in the grille there. Is the hood motor the big round thing lower on the third eye?
-
I got my third eye working on the Brat, but the motor that moves the light cover seems to be worn or broken. The light will come on, but the hood stays shut. It DOES seem to hit my grill a little, but it still does not open when the grille is off. What can be done to fix it? Does anyone have pics of where the motor is and how to replace it? I have not looked into it too deeply yet, but it is something to tackle soon.
-
Cause its more fun that way! Yeah you'd HAVE to beef up the suspension. It might cost a little somethin somethin to have a tank made, I haven't seen any like you describe (wide and flat). Go for it and let us know how it goes, as I was looking into fuel cells as well.
-
A big tank like that would really weigh you down as well. Can you imagine the weight of 30-50 gallons of gas in the soob? That's a lot. I'd just replace it with a little bigger tank and carry one or two gas cans around myself. Check Summitracing.com for different fuel cells.

Nice vids! Good job, though the second one went black for me too.

Well, It WAS Brian (Thesubarujunkie's) idea from the start and we had a site set up for a bit, but it kinda fizzled out when only 4 or 5 of us joined. I'm just passing the ideas along. Its cool Darksti that you're into it, I'm totally up for it! Good job!
