What's wrong with the Carter/Weber stock 1bbl?
Jibs replied to markjs's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Want another one? I can go out and find the one I threw in the bushes after tearing it out of my Brat! Seriously though, I don't like them, mine gave me so much trouble on the way back from wcss7. I limped the Brat home like 200 miles with one of the bolts out of the carb. (Who seriously thought that having one of the bolts mount from underneath was a good idea?) We hyad the whole thing glued to the manifold with rtv sealant, it was horrible. -
I am having the same problem with my 81 EA81 Brat, anyone know the spline count on those hubs? What will work for them?

Yeah Good Job! I want a ride at this year's show though. Anyway, Keep it up and here's to it runnin well for a long while. -
Want new or used? For new, I got mine from carbsunlimited.com, if you want a used or rebuilt one, check the marketplace.

It varies from place to place, the first whole set or 4 cost 175$ then I got a set of rear discs done (2) and he only charged me 75$.

Coming To Oregon Jan. 14-15th
Jibs replied to Jibs's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Sorry but this trip is a no go for right now. Mudrat has promised to bring my stuff down next weekend so I have to postpone. I WILL have to get up that way shortly to Medford to pick up a Brat though, so i may be up shortly. EDIT: I WILL BE COMING TO OREGON THIS WEEK. I WILL LEAVE FOR SACRAMENTO TOMORROW, THEN FOR EUGENE ON MONDAY. IF YOU SEE A GOLD COLERED BRAT WITH A CAMPER HEADING UP I-5 - HONK. SEE YA GUYS SOON! -
Good Deal. I would make one suggestion though. If you're doing them yourself, it won't be as bad, but I would get a set of rear discs and do the 6lug conversion on those. It'll save you time and money in the long run. I paid to have a set of 6lug drums drilled then, a few months later had a set of 6lug discs drilled and would have preferred to save my time and money and do it right the first time.

This is my 1001'st!! I missed my 1000th post replying to the MWE axle Post. I can only say that I am very grateful to have been around for so long and I look forward for what the next 1000 posts bring!

Check the offroad sticky at the top of the page, I have posted pics of the drilled hubs. They might be of help to ya.

replaced CV, still have clicking noise??
Jibs replied to switt's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Did ya tighten the castle nut good? I've heard that if loose even a little it can cause clicking. Could it be the bearings? This is the case in my Brat right now. -
Yeah thanks. Sorry If I confused anyone, but yeah I was wondering if I could use a passenger strut on the driver's side. That's good to know, I'll try it tomorrow. Thanks for the help, its good to know about the hubs though.
-
Are struts side specific for Gen 2 Brats and wagons? I ask because I replaced the driver's side axle recently and found that it was actually the front wheel bearings that was causing problems. I have a donor 82 wagon, but the driver's side hub boot is torn. The passenger one is fine though and was wondering if I could just flip it around. Would it work? Thanks.

No worries dude I was playin. It seemed like you had a lot to do that weekend so it's understandable not to drop by. This project of yours sounds way cool, I'm routing for both you guys. Have fun with the build up, lets see some pics! Keep up the good work.
-
Hey I've always wondered how much clearance you have under that Brat of yours! what is it? Can you also post up some closer pics of those flares ya got, I've got a set sittin here that I wanna maybe get on my Brat. Thanks.
-
Wait Wait wait. You're trying to get from where to where? AND you're trying to fit an er27 into a 78 Brat? Hows that gonna work? AND you didn't stop in reno to say Hi? By the way I'm all for the Brat.
-
Yeah I think what you are looking at there is the single weber INTAKE. I bought my weber new for 384 at carbsunlimited.com, though you can find rebuilt ones for cheaper. There's a board member ScottInBellinham that will be making dual carb intakes sometime soon, contact him if you are interested as the more demand there is for them the more will be made.

I'm gonna be heading up to Eugene to pick my stuff up from Mudrat79 this next weekend (Hopefully its all done:lol: ) so if you see a wagon and a Brat somewhere on I-5, please honk. It'll be me, Thesubarujunkie, and Subieman, we're gonna stop in medford to pick up another Brat, then on to Eugene.
-
Yeah so far I have had to take the castle nut off, and unbolted the inner control arm guy, and I SHOULD have enough room if I get this tierod off. Its in there good though.
-
I'm trying to swap a driver's side front axle today, and I am having trouble getting the steering rack ball joint out from the control arm. I don't want to wail on it with the hammer and ruin the threads. I've been using a larger bolt to act as a cushion, is this the right thing to do? Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks.
-
I think it'd be a great idea to get it all into 1 thread, then maybe sticky it. I'd say: Delta Cam Weber Carb.
-
I watched the lifted Brat rollover to 200,000 while coming back from WCSS7. Started Honking and waving and the soob guys behind me thought I was broken down. I also watched my 85 rollover to 100,000, it was kinda sad cause I wanted to keep it under that mark. Oh well.

Well said. I believe that we just need to keep working on modifying our subaru's and maybe sooner or later we will get support and or better ways of keeping everything running smoothly.

That's SWEET!

Sweet deal! We tried to get to Sierra-At-Tahoe today and didn't make it. We left Reno at 8:30 AM and turned back at Meyers at 2:00 PM. There was the BIGGEST pile-up going up Highway 50. The only fun part of being in a Car for 7 and a half hours and not getting anywhere was that on the way back down, we threw snowballs at everyone still waiting. I clocked 3 or 4 people on the way back down.
