  1. So I am gonna replace the fuel filters on the Brat tomorow and was wondering if I should get a stock fuel filter from the dealership or if I should get an aftermarket one. I got one from summitracing and put it right at the tank, and was wondering if another would work in place of the stock one before the fuel pump. It's a 40 micron filter that flows 5gpm. I also want to replace the vapor seperator so is there a good one for that as well? Thanks.
  2. You can tell older soobs easy if its 2wd or 4wd, just look under the rear, if it has a rear diff its 4wd, if not then 2wd. I'm also not sure about the newer cars.
  3. looks good, might have to take ya up on that.
  4. yeah thats kinda how the dealership is here in Reno. There IS one cool guy though that knows his older soobs and is GREAT about helping me get the right parts. I needed a radiator drain plug a while ago and everyone there couldn't get me the right one and finally the third time I went in there I got the good guy and he took 10 minutes and went into the back and found the right one.
  5. Thanks guys. I'll try these ideas. I don't know If I'm gonna drop the whole tank, I might as well I guess. I may try to replace the filters and lines first, then drain the tank and see if it IS all nasty inside.
  6. Cool. What year forrester, or does it matter? And do you think it would be the same for ea81's?
  7. That'd be cool too. But then it wouldn't be all subaru. That might not be a bad idea though as well. has anyone done anything like that as well?
  8. I am now going to have to drain my gas tank I believe, because I was out wheeling today and the Brat "ran out of gas" after syphoning some out of a buddies car, and getting the Brat to a station, I "filled" the car only to put 4.7 gallons in. The car had been sitting for a while so maybe the lines all gunked up. What is the best way to drain the tank, and what should I use to catch the gas? Thanks.
  9. As I have these same fender flares, I would LOVE some closer shots of the flares where they meet at the doors. I would also like a closer image of the rears where they meet at the sidestep. I'm not too worried at the rears though as I had a friend weld out the steps and weld them back in closer to the doors. Can you also get pics of how you cut the flare around the gas door? I'd appreciate it a lot.
  10. A buddy of mine is building a lift kit for his Brat and I was wondering who has done the outback steering extension with their lifts, and what size it works with. Any info would be appreciated.
  11. Yeah it might look good if you could find one of those Brat wings for sale! I know that the metal wings for Gen II wagons would fit PERFECT on the topper of a Brat though, I might have to try that.
  12. Has anyone incoporated their topper into their wheeler on their Brats? I got thinking today that it might be cool to have a roof rack or something built onto the topper so that you wouldn't clutter the bed with spare parts and stuff. Anyone got pics of anything like this? Any ideas on what could be done with it?
  13. Lumpycam did it to his 79 Brat. Contact him with any info about the swap. If you think its too hard for you THEN try the ej22 swap, but its up to you.
  14. yeah I've said my share too. No hard feelins. Yeah welcome to the board! Sorry to get all off topic up in here!
  15. well that's all well and good, but he didn't ask how to swap an ej22 into it. If he wants to try to put a v-6 into his soob, the guy to talk to would be lumpycam. If he talks to lumpycam and then figures it's too hard or is too much trouble, maybe THEN he'll ask about an ej22 swap. It just irks me a little when people ask for one thing and get a whole bunch of replys about another. I mean ABSOULUTELY NO offense 75subie, just giving my .02 cents.
  16. Dang. Maybe he doesn't WANT an ej22. Try contacting Lumpycam, I believe he had a v-6 in his lifted 79 Brat. He'd be the one to talk to.
  17. That was great! Seeing that soob just drop into nowhere was funny stuff.
  18. Well that sucks. Oh well, maybe it'll snow when you next get up here. Oh, by the way, we HAD SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!! sorry, I HAD to rub it in there! It wasn't actually all that great, I ran the Brat out of gas AGAIN, I though I had more, but guess not.
  19. Thanks Ken. Sounds like you had fun. Yeah I wouldn't THINK about it alone.
  20. Darn guys, you missed out. Here's a few pics of the Brat, J has some pics of his wagon.
  21. Ok here's some REAL flex of the brat:
  22. Yeah, GREAT video! What kind of spare parts did you guys bring with? I've been reading up on what you did, and it seems you bent a couple of struts and 3 or 4 axles. What else would you suggest someone brings with? It's cool I might have to try it sometime, as I live about an hour and a half from the trailhead.
  23. yeah but its gone now. Too nice of a day today for any to be left. I'll be there at PnP at 10, but might have to go to Carson as well, I was informed of a Brat being there and could maybe use some parts from that as well. I'll check back later, but 10 it is.
  24. Lookin good! What size tires?
