  1. Hey, yeah mudrat, how's my stuff doing? Did you get my message about having my bumpers and rollbar powdercoated white? Thanks for response.
  2. Yeah at the end of August I'm going back to school. Might be able to squeeze some wheelin in though. Most likely be a tuesday or thursday for me.
  3. I am making this for TheSubaruJunkie's Wagon's last offroad outing. We'll take it out some Tuesday Afternoon for a few hours or until we kill something (Let's keep our fingers crossed) This will mainly to be getting some shots and having some fun. this is a post WAY in advance, we all are having some car issues right now, so lets get them going first. Only thing for sure is a Tuesday afternoon, maybe around 4 or 5, even later depending on the heat. What do you guys say?
  4. I hear ya, I tried for half an hour to get it out and then got frustrated, grabbed the biggest screwdriver I had and a hammer and hit it out. I was TRYING to destroy the thing, but it ended up just poppin out. I got it installed great after that, though I DID find that its easier to install the cable to the pedal before getting in onto the carb. Thanks for the help.
  5. That's right, sorry. But he still has them for sale right?
  6. ok yeah I felt that little square guy and was actually gonna try to pull it through into the cab, but will try to get it the other way. That thing IS a pain, I can't seem to get 2 fingers on it good, but will try again. thanks for the help.
  7. Thanks guys!! That did the trick! I disconnected the negative battery and put a new longer one on and attached it to one of the top engine mount bolts, then made sure everything was good to go. I tried it 3 times, each time it was like it was before. Except for one thing - It didn't smoke anywhere. Then the fourth time, the engine started! And ran! So that was it, I think the car had been sitting for so long out in the desert heat that the ground was a little worn. But thanks again, I just gotta get the throttle cable back on and I'm good to go.
  8. You could have a set of hubs drilled to 6 lug too, it cost me 150 US$ for a set down here. Then you could use ANY 6 lug rim. Edit: TheshadyIrishman at Alliedarmament.com is also making 15x6 wheels with the stock 4x140mm pattern as well.
  9. I am replacing the throttle cable in the Brat and I am wondering how you get the clip out where the cable goes through the firewall. I broke the one in the Brat, and I don't REALLY want to break the one in the wagon I'm taking it from, but I might end up doing it anyway. How do you get it out? Thanks.
  10. So I can just use the rotors and calipers and hubs? I wouldn't HAVE to change the control arms or the steering knuckles? Thanks. Edit: and would I be using axles from the later gens or the regular 81 axles? Thanks.
  11. I'm off tomorrow so I'll try what everyone has posted. Thanks guys and I'll let you know how it goes.
  12. It's not the battery cable. It's a ground wire that connects from the end of the spare tire mount to the transmission. I replaced it the first time after it got burned pretty bad with another one from another car, and it did the same thing. It didn't get AS hot, but still real warm to the touch.
  13. How about: BECAUSE I CAN!! I love subarus and they make for real good offraod machines How many Lifted Soobs do you see around? Lifted Jeeps? Exactly. Because it looks cool.
  14. That's cool man! Good Job, I like that pic as well, makes us soob guys look good!
  15. All right I went back up ans checked today. I didn't get a good look to see if the battery cables were pinched, But I DID notice that some wiring that goes from the passenger side (EA81) and connects to the oil pump, a connect to the carb and a ground to the engine, so I hooked up everything there and tried to start the engine. The starter tried to turn over, but didn't seem like it was getting enough juice or that something was holdin the engine back (See new Post by SubaruJunkie) but it was closer than yesterday, so I don't know. Any suggestions?
  16. Yeah, I didn't spend a lot of time figuring out what was wrong, but I'll check the next time I'm around there
  17. This past wednesday a few of us swapped engines into the Brat and I finally got everything hooked back up and bolted together today, but when I tried to start the Brat I completely FRIED the ground wire that is located at the end of the spare tire holder. The starter clicked once and then there was nothing. I saw smoke and turned it off, what could it be? any ideas? Thanks
  18. Here's me at WCSS7 In the Lifted Brat:
  19. If I can get the Brat done soon I'd be in. But yeah its hard getting people together around here, but we should keep trying.
  20. Sorry dave, we weren't near a computer at all since yesterday, so didn't even think to call. We were real busy anyway and probably wouldn't have been much fun. In other news THANKS JEREMY AND BRIAN! I couldn't have done it without you.
  21. I'm running 14" rims for my swampers and 15" rims for my street tires, so everyone is right! 14" with Swampers: 15" With street tires:
  22. Its so sad to see something like this happen. Unless of course it's going to a good home. Oh well, it had a good life and will be remembered. Too bad I couldn't ever get out with you to wheel in this thing.
