  1. I called the troopers, po-po's, and fish and game... They're on their way. I hope you guys are satisfied. :temper:
  2. Well, i went back to the scene..... i found the moose, i counted 5 bends in the leg that i hit. He is still lying in the same spot where i hit it..... it is now suffering like i am... when it dies, i will have me a set of antlers.
  3. originally posted by: mtsmiths yeh, I hate my job. I been working 7 days a week at 3am since april 27, 2002 ... I think this mishap might change my life for the time being. If I do decide to get it back and part it out Ill definately be the "hook up" But... windows, doors, moonroof, wing, taillights, etc all the external stuff is destroyed.
  4. nononono, read above... the moose ran into me. I had .00043 seconds to react... i reacted, but not good enough.
  5. They never found the moose, all we found was a crapload of hair and half a leg... That moose is suffering like I am thats for sure. BTW: my other subarus are my toys... i dont consider them "road worthy" they jus get to play. I dunno if i wanna buy another subaru, but damn, for hitting a moose, it held up pretty damn good. It was the rolling that jacked it all up.
  6. citybrikr -- I never had much problems in older subarus too... The minute i purchased my '00 Impreza 2.5 RS i had about the same problems... just a bunch of problems that i didnt know where there... i poured thousands into it as well. Well, my car died today... I hit a moose and rolled a couple times @ relatively high speed. The car was a backfiring, loud, breaking peice of crap for the ENTIRE time I owned it.... I NEVER figured out my "mystery backfire" that had me soo mad. But now that its gone i miss it (and its only been 3 hours :boohoo: ) ... Dont take it too personally, but those problems are what make your car YOUR car. I'm sure if you wrecked it, you'd be bummed.

  8. Ever been hit by a moose @ 60 mph + ? @ 4:30AM!!?? I got the pleasure (not really) of doing it this morning. I was driving back from my motor route (paper route), when I came over a hill to see INSTANTLY a moose running out of the woods ( i think my exhaust scared it ).. It hit my front right headlight, my car hit the moose behind its front legs.. all moose! (yes, it hit me, it ran square into me!) and the force of the impact sent me rolling 1 1/2 times (umm, i think...)into a ditch.. dont forget the 60 mph part. I also wasnt wearing my seatbelt... If i were, I would be dead because the roof was smooshing the drivers side seat down (well, technically up since my car was upside-down) ..... I ENDED UP SITTING SHOTGUN IN MY OWN CAR WHEN THE ROLLING STOPPED! , aint that messed up!!!! I walked away from the crash with nothing more than busted knuckles, glass shards in my head, and a rugburn on my hip..... Ru2 ended up "tires up" ... which, in Alaska, "tires up" subaru means "dead" Oh! before I forget, NONE OF MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND MY AIRBAG SYSTEM WAS OPERATING FULLY! :madder: i dun get it I will have pictures to post A.S.A.P. I will need to goto the wreckers in a day or two. Ru2, you were a great car. You'll be missed.
  9. Its so easy, and its worth the time/effort as opposed to shop work. It would probably take them an hour or two for the rear bearings. If you do take it to the shop, its a good idea have them replace the brake pads and turn the drums/rotors since they are already coming off anyway.
  10. Sorry to ambush a post but... anyone know if my adjustables (struts) in my '85 BRAT will fit into my '90 Loyale?
  11. Well, all that technical stuff is cool... but.. EVERYONE KNOWS SIX STARS ARE BETTER THAN FIVE!
  12. '93 Loyale eh... AA100 MAF you will need to look @ the electronic part hooked up to the MAF. There are some numbers and letters, the top right set is what your looking for. The unit comes out (running on SPFI knowledge here) with 1 phillips screw that attaches the ari inlet hose to the MAF, and (4) four 12mm? or 14mm? bolts that attach the MAF to the Airbox. Very simple. The stock MAF for my '90 Loyale (SPFI) was AA100 . DO NOT let a Junkyard give you a XT6 MAF. My car accepted it, then ran a higher idle afterwards of 1100 RPMS or so...I didnt like it at first so I tried to swap back with the correct (AA100) and my car wouldnt accept it. The car would die INSTANTLY anytime I tried anything other than running without MAF or the XT6 i got from the junkyard. I know for a fact it wasnt the MAF's problem, because I even went as far as 600$ to buy a new one. The car still refused it, but the whole time I could run with/without a MAF, or run the XT6 MAF. So now im stuck with an 1100 RPM idle (which ive grown to love) and an XT6 MAF.... a bit of a HP gain was noticed too. Sorry to get off track, but I had to share a weird MAF story. I still havent figured out why my Loyale wont accept the stock MAF anymore :cornfuzz:
  13. if its like my EJ251 its the "o" ring in the valve cover gasket set. It keeps oil from going down in the spark plug holes. BEWARE! not fixing this will cause oil to touch the plug wires and plugs, making them foul out. (If this is the problem) Ive been quoted $250 a side for parts/labor for the valve cover gaskets. They come in a ste of like 4 or something? BTW, if both valve cover gaskets are blown, yes, all 4 spark plug holes will get oil. Chances are tho, yours is just one side.
  14. yeh, my 1990 Loyale got a "screw loose" one time, the screw that holds the rotor on properly fell out. Caused the timing to go out of whack, or somethin? took me like 5 months to find Screw loose, broken tooth, anyway, I feel ya LorryB. Good job.
  15. Oh you'll know if its bearings. Do what Tolerance says: Drive @ about 35-45 mph, make the sudden movement, probably an inch or two, as if you were dodging an object. If you turn your wheel to the right side and it gets quieter for a second, then the noise returns when you go straight again, its the right side. What its doing is when you make your sudden movement, the weight of the car (on the right side) is off the bearing long enough to temporarily relieve the noise. Once the weight is returned, the relief is taken away, thus making the noise return. Same test for left side Whats your bearing milage? Does your steering wheel shake at all (from left to right) ? Can you hear "whirring" or grinding?
  16. Just so you know. 4.25 quarts. 17mm drain plug wrench (EJ251) (K&N) HP 1004 oil filter (for EJ251) (up to you) 2,500 Miles or 3 months. (1,000 miles for me ) 10W-30 Summer 5W-30 Winter. Just dont use pennzoil with their wax based oil. Mobil 1 is a great synthetic, when compared to castrol synthetic oil. Oh, and that lil MMO (marvel mystery oil) experiment is a crock of crap, the difference people are feeling is only their oil being changed. Yes, your car will feel alot better after an oil change. I miss anything???
  17. Ugh... people really need to learn what oil does for a car. Some people are far more dumb than they need to be when it comes to oil. :madder:
  18. Well, this was kind of rare, but I pressure washed my engine bay one time and got water in my alarm siren and didnt notice anything except for i had no chirping. The alarm siren, it was half full, like a half full cup of water. I dumped it out, chirping returned. :-\ *edit* the water probably acted as a silencer *edit*
