  1. man...i looked at the cusco plates again...these things are SO freaking simple, and I STILL have not found a bearing or way to get this freaking breaing seated...this is annoying really.
  2. Thanks guys! baccaruda: So far I dont really have anything in them...I got the 4 plates for free, and the bolts cost almost nothing...its the whole bearing thingy that is the big deal. I hope that if I can get these in production, they will cost $50 or less, shipped. The stock bearing in the stock strut tower tops measure as this: OD is 25MM and the shft size is 15MM...yet I measure the hole to me 14.5MM...? Its about 8MM thick.
  3. About the vibration, go under and give all the axles and the driveshaft a good strong wiggle/turn, and see if anything is unusually loose...thats where I'd start on that. Also, try CD2 Oil Detergent additive in the yellow bottle at NAPA. It works great if the lifters are dirty. BTW: The proper name for them is Hydraulic Valve Lash Adjusters (HVLA's). By the second or third oil change using 10w-30 with the CD2, the ticking should be gone...otherwise, Oil pump stuff! Oh, and change the oil reguarly! 2k-3k miles!
  4. Yeah...how much is one of those DP's running now? I was thinking 3 inch...or 2.5 at least, with a separator and separate pipe for the wastegate, and join it downstream at the bend maybe...if I were to make one.
  5. I have jsut the two cats on ym GL-10, its kinda quiet to me...others say it loud. The exhaust end about 12 inches from the 2nd cat. The RX has the DP, no cat, and ends right after it comes down and bends back. Its LOUD.
  6. Ok guys, the ID of the bearing is 14.5MM. Common...i need this thing......
  7. Ok, the last thing stopping me from these simple camber plates is this stupid bearing. It needs to be something similar to a clutch release bearing really, shaft size near 9/16. Just any kind of bearing that can be put inbetween 2 solid plates to allow the plates to rotate against each other will do. I'll get measurements later tonight. Any ideas? edit: bump...oh, it morning and i still dont ahve measurements! Ok, 14.5 MM is the shaft size for the strut....
  8. i'll prolly do that later, when the $ permits once again! and after i get the RX road legal.
  9. baccaruda: No boost increase for me! This is my daily driver. Myxalplyx: Me thinks that if you run 100 octane competition fuel, you could run 12 psi with 26deg of timing or better and not have any detonation. I detonate ocasionally, and my timing is set below the factory 25 deg BTDC...and I run 93 'premium' all of the time. I've noticed that Shell fuels are the best, and Amaco and Gate stations are good as well. I think that this would be a good reliable power setup with the right fuel, or with a really good front mount IC, or a waterspray top mount...and I was thinking about a really complexly mapped out DIS system. I think I am going banannas!
  10. NO. think: JDM vs USDM The JDM stuff you are getting is STi, the USDM is WRX stuff. Nope. BUT: you could find a donor WRX and use it easy'r than getting an STi me thinks.........just get the whole package, its much easy'r. The things i did, ive always had the whole package nearby, so it got done easily.
  11. Ive got some Nissan rear calipers that with a small mod with bolt right on...and these are the ones with the rear handbrake...all id need to do is run the cable setup to a lever in the cockpit...
  12. http://www.carolinamotorsportspark.com/ Hey..........mee too!!!!!!!!!
  13. Myxalplyx: sorry, Ive been on vacation. 700 miles interstate trip. NO problems at all. HOT HOT weather, and 80+ MPH crusing. No IC, and 7~8 PSI of boost...it's the stock wastegate setup.
  14. ...for a while. Its time for a much needed vacation...the only thing is, its been planned for months, and already reseved, but with a recent job change, not much $ to relax with! Oh well, me, the girl, and the sube will still have a great ole time. I should not be returning until the 29th, so anyone emailing or posting for my attention, please remember I am not gonna around for a while! See ya'll in about 2 weeks!
  15. check your timing. I dont know what the timing is supposed to be for sure, but i think its somewhere between 8 ans 12 deg btdc on the N/A subarus. Also try running a higher octane fuel and see what happens.
  16. absolute coolness. THese prices are ROCK bottom compared even to my NAPA discount.
  17. Ok, the move has thrown me off a tad...so Here i come! These are N/A pistons from an N/A shortblock. the whole thing was thrown in there. I dont know if it was carbed or SPFI. I know that the part numbers are supposed to be the same. All are EA82 parts. I get full boost at 2600, and depending on timing settings...I get lots of low end. I can cruise around town in 5th gear. Ive got decent power at 1500. I have no clue what HP i have. I think its around 160...but the RX's high end is better, it low end sucks, the mid ranges between the two are about the same. Corky: I dont know that they do it everywhere. I do know that the local 76 here in my town does it, the 87, 89 and 93 all perform the same. AND the 76 closest to charlotte motor speedway-its 93 felt and performed the same as the 87. But the competition pump DOES pump 100 octane unleaded.
